A method for implanting a medical device for lubricating a joint in a human body, said method comprising the steps of creating an opening reaching from outside of the human body into the joint, providing an artificial contacting surface to said joint, fixating the artificial contacting surface to the joint, implanting a reservoir in the human body, and lubricating said artificial contacting surface by pressurizing a lubricating fluid contained in said reservoir.

Needle insertion mechanism for drug delivery device

An insertion mechanism for a wearable drug delivery device includes a needle hub, a needle coupled to the needle hub, a flexible boot removably coupled to the needle hub, and a cannula coupled to the flexible boot. The needle hub, the needle, the flexible boot, and the cannula are movable between a first position and a second position. Upon moving the needle hub, the needle, the flexible boot, and the cannula from the first position to the second position, the cannula engages a floor member to restrict movement of the cannula and the flexible movement towards the first position.

MINIATURIZED INTRA-BODY CONTROLLABLE MEDICAL DEVICE EMPLOYING MACHINE LEARNING AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

A medical system includes one or more medical devices for intra-body conveyance which include a host structure that defines an interior area, one or more data gathering system, one or more means for communication, for transmitting data from the data gathering systems. The medical device is configurable into a peripheral boundary of a size adapted to fit in a lumen of a living organism. The medical system includes an external processing device configured to receive the transmitted data from the means for communication. The external processing system is configured to perform data analysis on the data received from the medical device.

CLOUD BIG DATA-BASED SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INSULIN PUMP INDIVIDUALIZED CONFIGURATION OPTIMIZATION

A cloud big data-based system and method for insulin pump individualized configuration optimization are provided. The system includes an insulin pump, a real-time continuous glucose monitoring system, a smart phone, a glucose monitoring application software installed in the smart phone and a cloud big data server. By means of personal blood glucose measurement historical data of users stored in the cloud, the insulin pump individualized configuration optimization system provides effective calculation of an individualized optimal insulin injection volume and injection rate for each user, thus aiding physicians and patients to formulate diabetes treatment plans with increased effectiveness.

INFUSION OF DRUGS

The present invention relates to a method of replenishing a system for injecting a substance into the patient's body, when the system is implanted in the patient's body. The method involves replenishing the implanted reservoir by a replenishing needle penetrating the patient's skin and injecting infusion liquid comprising the substance through the replenishing needle directly or indirectly into the reservoir.

Swallowable drug delivery device and method of delivery

Embodiments of the invention provide swallowable devices, preparations and methods for delivering drugs and other therapeutic agents within the GI tract. Some embodiments provide a swallowable device such as a capsule for delivering drugs into the intestinal wall or other GI lumen. The device comprises a capsule sized to be swallowed and pass through the intestinal tract. The capsule can include at least one guide tube, one or more tissue penetrating members positioned in the guide tube, a delivery member, an actuating mechanism and a release element. The release element degrades upon exposure to various conditions in the intestine so as to release and actuate the actuating mechanism. Embodiments of the invention are particularly useful for the delivery of drugs which are poorly absorbed, tolerated and/or degraded within the GI tract.

SELF-RIGHTING ARTICLES

Self-righting articles, such as self-righting capsules for administration to a subject, are generally provided. In some embodiments, the self-righting article may be configured such that the article may orient itself relative to a surface (e.g., a surface of a tissue of a subject). The self-righting articles described herein may comprise one or more tissue engaging surfaces configured to engage (e.g., interface with, inject into, anchor) with a surface (e.g., a surface of a tissue of a subject). In some embodiments, the self-righting article may have a particular shape and/or distribution of density (or mass) which, for example, enables the self-righting behavior of the article. In some embodiments, the self-righting article may comprise a tissue interfacing component and/or a pharmaceutical agent (e.g., for delivery of the active pharmaceutical agent to a location internal of the subject). In some cases, upon contact of the tissue with the tissue engaging surface of the article, the self-righting article may be configured to release one or more tissue interfacing components. In some cases, the tissue interfacing component is associated with a self-actuating component. For example, the self-righting article may comprise a self-actuating component configured, upon exposure to a fluid, to release the tissue interfacing component from the self-righting article. In some cases, the tissue interfacing component may comprise and/or be associated with the pharmaceutical agent (e.g., for delivery to a location internal to a subject).

An implantable medical device for implantation in a mammal joint having at least two contacting surfaces is provided. The medical device comprises; an artificial contacting surface adapted to replace at least the surface of at least one of the mammal's joint contacting surfaces, wherein the artificial contacting surface is adapted to be lubricated, when implanted in said joint. Furthermore the medical device comprises at least one inlet adapted to receive a lubricating fluid from a reservoir, at least one channel at least partly integrated in the artificial contacting surface in connection with the at least one inlet for distributing the lubricating fluid to the surface of the artificial contacting surface. The medical device could be adapted to be operable by an operation device to receive the distributed lubricated fluid from a reservoir.

KIT AND METHOD OF REDUCING HUMAN ERROR DURING IMPLANTED INFUSION PUMP REFILLING

Method of safely refilling an implanted infusion pump. The method includes contacting a withdrawn fluid with a protein-detecting composition, detecting whether the protein-detecting composition experiences a reaction, and performing a refilling procedure if no reaction is detected.
