DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE WITH INDICATOR

Systems and methods for monitoring an operational state and/or a fill status of a drug container of a drug delivery device are provided. The drug container can hold a liquid drug. A plunger can be positioned within the drug container. A drive system can advance the plunger to expel the liquid drug from the container. A monitoring system can detect a movement and/or a position of the plunger and/or any component coupled to the plunger. The detection can enable determination of an amount of liquid drug that has been expelled and/or an amount of liquid drug remaining in the drug container. Dosing rates, flow rates, and dosage completion can also be determined.

SYRINGE PUMP WITH SYRINGE POSITION GUIDING FEATURES AND OCCLUSION DETECTION

A syringe pump includes a housing with a syringe accepting region, a syringe holding system configured to hold a syringe in the syringe accepting region, a drive mechanism, and a drive head operatively coupled to the drive mechanism. The drive head is configured to engage a piston of a syringe held by the syringe holding system.

VARIABLE FILL DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE
20190344020 · 2019-11-14 ·

Variable fill drug delivery devices for delivering a therapeutic agent to a patient are provided. A variable fill drug delivery device includes a drug container to store a variable amount (or user-selectable amount) of a therapeutic agent. A plunger of the variable fill drug delivery device is positioned in the drug container. An infusion engine of the variable fill device is coupled to the plunger. The infusion engine retains the plunger prior to activation of the variable fill drug delivery device and releases the plunger after activation of the variable fill drug delivery device. After activation, the infusion engine drives the plunger from a first position within the drug container to a second position within the drug container to expel the variable amount of the therapeutic agent from the drug container for delivery to a patient.

TRANSDERMAL DRUG DELIVERY DEVICES AND METHODS

A transdermal drug delivery device includes a reservoir, a transdermal membrane, a piston, a control rod, a spring, and a rotational cam. The reservoir is configured to hold a formulation. The transdermal membrane is configured to allow the formulation from the reservoir to pass therethrough. The piston is configured to move into the reservoir. The control rod is attached to the piston and includes a plurality of teeth thereon. The spring is configured to apply force to the control rod in the direction of the reservoir. The rotational cam has a first camming surface and a second camming surface that are configured to engage with the plurality of teeth. The rotational cam, when rotated, is configured to disengage the first camming surface from a first tooth of the plurality of teeth, thereby allowing the spring to advance the piston into the reservoir to expel the formulation onto the transdermal membrane.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DELIVERING MICRODOSES OF MEDICATION

Devices, systems, and methods are provided herein for delivering medication (e.g., insulin) via a wearable pump having a patch-style form factor for adhesion to a user's body. The reusable pump may be coupled to a disposable cap housing a microdosing system for delivering precise, repeatable doses of medication to a cannula configured to deliver medication to a target infusion area beneath the user's outer skin layer. The system further may include an applicator for inserting the cannula into the user's skin and/or applying an adhesive pad to the skin.

Ophthalmic device

An ophthalmic device including a cannula having a cannula distal end, a lumen, and one or more orifices coupled to the lumen is provided. The cannula is configured to deliver a fluid. A sleeve is disposed around the cannula and has a sleeve distal end. A handle is coupled to the sleeve and the cannula, the handle having an actuator. An internal mechanism is coupled to the actuator and is configured to pump the fluid. The internal mechanism includes an inlet port disposed on a handle proximal end, a drive member coupled to the actuator and a plunger coupled to the drive member. The ophthalmic device is configured to retain a volume of fluid and to be prevented from being re-primed after a predetermined number of actuator presses, wherein the retained volume of fluid is dispensed over an additional number of actuator pushes.

Apparatus is described for administering a substance to a subject. A vial contains the substance and a stopper is disposed within the vial and is slidably coupled to the vial. A first threaded element is (a) rotatable with respect to the vial and (b) substantially immobile proximally with respect to the vial during rotation of the first threaded element. A second threaded element is threadedly coupled to the first threaded element. At least a distal end of the second threaded element is substantially non-rotatable with respect to the vial, and the distal end of the second threaded element defines a coupling portion that couples the second threaded element to the stopper. The first threaded element, by rotating, linearly advances the stopper and at least the distal end of the second threaded element toward a distal end of the vial. Other embodiments are also described.
