Some embodiments of an infusion pump system may be configured to wirelessly communicate with other devices using near field communication (NFC). In particular embodiments, by incorporating near field communication capabilities into the infusion pump system, user communications with the infusion pump system can be enhanced and simplified.

System and method for syringe engagement with injector

A fluid injector including an injector housing with at least one syringe port for receiving a syringe, and a locking mechanism associated with the at least one syringe port for securing the syringe within the at least one syringe port. The locking mechanism is configured for engaging at least one syringe retaining member of the syringe to releasably lock the syringe within the at least one syringe port. The at least one syringe retaining member rotationally guides the syringe into self-orienting alignment with the locking mechanism and is rotated by the locking mechanism into fully locked position after axial installation of the syringe into the at least one syringe port. The locking mechanism also axially ejects the syringe from the locking mechanism upon rotation of the syringe during removal.

System For Syringe Engagement To An Injector

An injector system for injecting fluid includes a syringe and an injector. The syringe includes a body and a plunger movably disposed within the body. The plunger has at least one flexible leg extending toward the rearward end of the body. The injector has a housing with a front plate, a drive member at least partially disposed within the housing and operable to engage the plunger, and a syringe release assembly operable to release the syringe. The syringe assembly includes a syringe release gear that forms an enclosure for receiving the syringe when the syringe is fully seated within the housing and a plunger release tube surrounding at least a portion of the drive member. The plunger release tube has a first end rotationally engaged with the syringe release gear. Rotation of the syringe release assembly releases the at least one flexible leg from the drive member.

A connector retains a medicine reservoir in a housing. The connector snaps onto the reservoir, the connector and reservoir are inserted into an aperture in the housing, and the connector snaps into the aperture in the housing. The connector may have a tubing and needle fixed in it to insert into the reservoir. The connector does not require a particular orientation when snapped into the housing and some embodiments may rotate freely. When snapped into the housing, the connector provides an auditory cue. For removal of the connector and reservoir, the exposed portion of the connector is compressed from the side. The configuration of the connector solves several problems associated with threaded connectors or other similar connectors.

Adult Liver Progenitor Cells for Treating Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

The invention relates to the use of a composition comprising adult human liver- derived progenitor cells, such as heterologous human adult liver-derived progenitor cells (HALPC), for the treatment of a patient having non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), such as non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) or non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), or wherein the patient is at risk of developing NASH. The treatment comprises a step of administering to said patient an amount of said composition which comprises a dose of 0.25 to 2.5 million said progenitor cells per kg body weight; wherein the composition is substantially free of an effective amount of an anticoagulant, and wherein the patient does not receive any co-treatment with an anticoagulant.
