APPARATUS FOR INFUSING FLUID

A pump for pumping fluid includes a tube platen, a plunger, a bias member, inlet and outlet valves, an actuator mechanism, a position sensor, and a processor. The plunger is configured for actuation toward and away from the infusion-tube when the tube platen is disposed opposite to the plunger. The tube platen can hold an intravenous infusion tube. The bias member is configured to urge the plunger toward the tube platen.

SYSTEMS, APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR OCCLUSION DETECTION USING PUMP OPERATION MEASUREMENT

A technical solution for monitoring operation of a medical delivery device such as an infusion pump for occlusion is provided that employs sensing pump motor current and monitoring average motor current difference as between dispense and aspirate strokes in a pump cycle. The solution can be implemented alone or in combination with other occlusion sensing methods that use one or more of pump measurement data such as pump stroke duration (e.g., duration of aspirate stroke or dispense stroke in a rotational metering-type pump or a reciprocating-type pump), end-stop or limit switch activation, and duration difference between aspirate and dispense strokes to detect occlusion.

SYSTEMS, APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR OCCLUSION DETECTION USING PUMP OPERATION MEASUREMENT

A technical solution for monitoring operation of a medical delivery device such as an infusion pump for occlusion is provided that obviates the need for any hardware changes or additions. A pump measurement such as pump duration (e.g., duration of aspirate stroke or dispense stroke in a rotational metering-type pump or a reciprocating-type pump) that is already provided for in a pump is analyzed to determine the differences in the pump measurement during normal operating conditions and occluded conditions, and a threshold or metric is set. When a detected pump measurement fails to meet a threshold, the pump can either indicate to the user to shutdown operation of the pump or to automatically disable the pump. The pump measurement can be a single one, or a subset, or a N combination of stroke duration, end-stop or limit switch activation, and duration difference between aspirate and dispense strokes.

Multi-sensor infusion system for detecting air or an occlusion in the infusion system

An infusion system for being operatively connected to a fluid delivery line and to an infusion container includes a pump, a plurality of different types of sensors connected to the pump or the fluid delivery line, at least one processor, and a memory. The plurality of different types of sensors are configured to indicate whether air is in the fluid delivery line. The memory includes programming code for execution by the at least one processor. The programming code is configured to, based on measurements taken by the plurality of different types of sensors, determine: whether there is air in the fluid delivery line; whether there is a partial occlusion or a total occlusion in the fluid delivery line; or a percentage of the air present in the fluid delivery line or the probability of the air being in the fluid delivery line.

OCCLUSION DETECTION FOR INFUSION PUMPS

A system including a tube and a force sensor coupled to a wall of the tube via a restraining element and configured to obtain a value of a tubing force when the tube is deformed by the restraining element. The system includes a processor to determine parameters for fitting a curve including the value of the tubing force, to determine a fluid pressure value for a fluid in the tube based on the parameters for fitting the curve, and to activate an alarm responsive to the fluid pressure value and to the parameters for fitting the curve when an occlusion condition is identified in the tube. The parameters for fitting the curve comprise at least one time-decaying parameter(s) associated to the tubing force. A method for using the system and a non-transitory computer readable medium including instructions to perform the above method are also provided.

An infusion device (3) comprises a housing element (30) having a receptacle (301) for receiving a pump module (1), and a pump actuation mechanism (2) having a wobbling device (20) arranged on the housing element (30) and a drive shaft (21) being rotatable about a rotational axis (A). The wobbling device (20) is actuatable, by rotating the drive shaft (21) about the rotational axis (A), to perform a tumbling motion with respect to the receptacle (300) for acting onto the pump module (1) received in the receptacle (300) in order to pump a fluid through the pump module (1). Herein, the wobbling device (20) is displaceable along at least one direction (X, Y) transverse to the rotational axis (A) with respect to the receptacle (300). In this way an infusion device is provided which in an easy and cost-efficient manner allows for improving the positional accuracy of the pump module with respect to the wobbling device of the pump actuation mechanism upon arranging the pump module on the receptacle of the housing element.
