The safety syringe also comprises a handle portion secured to the barrel and a syringe plunger slidably engaged with the handle portion and moveable within the barrel on an inward stroke to drive the bung forwards within the barrel to cause a substance within the volume to be expelled from the opening. The safety syringe further comprises a rotation mechanism configured to rotate the syringe plunger within the barrel at a point during the inward stroke when the syringe plunger is in contact with the bung, such that a rotational force is applied to the barrel and a brake connected to the handle portion and configured to provide a frictional force to resist the rotational force applied to the barrel.

Disclosed is an injection device for delivering a medicament from a syringe contained within a housing, the device being configured to move the syringe through the housing to cause insertion of a needle of the syringe into a user's skin and move a syringe bung through a syringe body, delivering medicament through the needle. The device includes: a plunger engaging the bung; a sleeve around the plunger; an insertion spring biasing the sleeve to the housing; and a delivery spring biasing the plunger to the sleeve. A release mechanism releases the sleeve from the housing to commence insertion and release the plunger from the sleeve, following insertion, delivering medicament. A velocity regulator regulates the plunger upon release and disengages during delivery, and includes a screw thread associated with the sleeve or plunger and one or more thread engaging members formed on the other of the sleeve and the plunger.

AUTO INJECTOR WITH VARIABLE PLUNGER FORCE

Disclosed is a method and an auto-injector for administering a medicament. The auto injector comprising: a housing; a cartridge receiver configured to receive a cartridge comprising a first stopper; a drive module coupled to move a plunger rod between a retracted plunger rod position and an extended plunger rod position, the plunger rod being configured to move the first stopper; a resistance sensor configured to provide a resistance signal indicative of resistance against movement of the plunger rod; and a processing unit coupled to the drive module and to the resistance sensor. The processing unit being configured to: control the drive module to move the plunger rod towards the extended plunger rod position with a plunger rod speed; determine plunger rod position; receive the resistance signal; and control the drive module to adjust movement of the plunger rod if the resistance signal is indicative of resistance against movement of the plunger rod above a high resistance threshold, wherein the high resistance threshold is based on the plunger rod position.

A medical delivery device for advancing a piston in a medicament container to expel a medicament. A support structure supports the container and a drive assembly that advances the piston. The drive assembly includes a drive ribbon that can be retracted and extended. The retracted ribbon defines a spiral and the extended ribbon defines a helix. The drive ribbon is incrementally moveable between the retracted spiral configuration and extended helical configuration. A mechanical drive rotates the drive ribbon to selectively extend and retract the ribbon. A thrust member having a helical ramp engages a proximal edge of the drive ribbon where it transitions between a spiral and helix. A bearing member at the distal end of the drive ribbon exerts an axial force on the piston when the ribbon is extended.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MULTIPLE SITE INJECTION

A system for injecting includes a syringe body having proximal and distal ends, a syringe interior, and a syringe flange at the proximal end thereof.
