Pen-Type Injector
The present invention relates to injectors, such as pen-type injectors, that provide for administration of medicinal products from a multidose cartridge and permit a user to set the delivery dose. The injector may include a housing, a cartridge containing medicinal product, the cartridge being retained within the housing, means for selecting a dose of medicinal product to be expelled, and means for expelling the selected dose of medicinal product. The housing may be a unitary housing within which the means for selecting a dose and the means for expelling the selected dose are moveably retained. Alternatively, the injector may include a housing, a piston rod, an insert located in the housing and through which the piston may rotate, ratchet means, a dose dial sleeve, a drive sleeve, a button located on the drive sleeve and rotatable with respect to the drive sleeve, and clutch means which upon depression of the button prevents rotation between the dose dial sleeve and the drive sleeve.
Syringe with clicking mechanism
A syringe includes a monolithic barrel (12) being divided into two bore portions, a first bore portion (22) extending from the needle adapter partially towards the second axial end and a second bore portion (24) extending from the first bore portion to the second axial end, wherein the first bore portion is circular in cross section and the second bore portion has a cross sectional shape that at least partially extends beyond the radius of the first bore portion. The syringe includes a plunger (14) sized to fit within and move along the longitudinal axis of the first bore portion. A plunger rod (16) extends along the longitudinal axis of the monolithic barrel, the plunger rod including a first array of notches and/or protuberances (30) along at least a portion of its length. The syringe includes an insert (18) sized to fit wholly within the second bore portion, the insert defining a bore through which the plunger rod extends and including a first finger (36) extending into the bore defined by the insert for, in use, engaging the first array of notches and/or protuberances on the plunger.
Drive mechanisms suitable for use in drug delivery devices
The present disclosure is directed to a dose setting mechanism that may be used with a drug delivery device. The dose setting mechanism may include an inner body having a helical thread along an outer cylindrical surface of the inner body, and a drive sleeve for driving a piston rod in an axial direction, the drive sleeve positioned within at least a portion of the inner body. The dose setting mechanism may further include a dose dial sleeve rotatably engaged with the helical thread of the inner body and a dial grip connected to the dose dial sleeve and releasably connected to the drive sleeve. Further when a dose is set, the dial grip is rotated so that both the dose dial sleeve and the drive sleeve rotate with respect to the inner body.
A TORSION SPRING DRIVEN INJECTION DEVICE
The invention relates to a torsion spring driven injection device for ejecting set doses of a liquid drug. In a first aspect the torsion spring driven injection device is provided with a blocking structure which is operated by the rotatable display element such that the set dose can only be expelled when a certain minimum dose size has been set. In a second aspect the torsion spring driven injection device is provided with a release mechanism which secures that the set dose can only be expelled as one single full dose in one stroke. The two aspects can easily be combined such that the predetermined minimum dose size most be expelled as one single dose.
INJECTION DEVICE WITH DOSE SIZE ADJUSTER
The present disclosure relates to an injection device configured to expel a dose of a medicament, the injection device comprising: an elongated housing extending in a longitudinal direction, a piston rod movable relative to the housing in a longitudinal distal direction to exert a dispensing pressure onto a bung of a cartridge at least partially filled with an injectable medicament, a rod extension movably arranged on or in a distal end of the piston rod, a driver operably engaged with the piston rod and movable relative to the housing in a longitudinal proximal direction for setting of the dose and movable relative to the housing in the longitudinal distal direction for dispensing of the dose, and an adjuster arranged on or in the driver and operably engaged with the rod extension to move the rod extension in longitudinal direction relative to the piston rod.
INSULIN DELIVERY ARRANGEMENT AND METHOD FOR INSULIN DOSING
The disclosure concerns an insulin delivery arrangement including a hand-operable insulin delivery device which includes an adjusting unit for presetting of an insulin dose and an applicator unit that can be triggered to deliver the preset insulin dose to a user. In order to ease burden of insulin dosing, a dose converter is adapted to receive an actual setting for the insulin dose as an input and to provide as an output a carbohydrate value equivalent to an amount of meal carbohydrates which can be compensated by the respective insulin dose. A display is used for displaying the carbohydrate value in parallel to the insulin dose.
Injection Device
A controlled multidosing delivery device for use with a syringe includes a housing, a plunger rod and a drive shell. The housing having an axially extending chamber including openings at either end, the distal end being adapted for attachment to the syringe barrel. The plunger rod includes a contact button at the proximal end of an elongated shaft and a pusher feature at the distal end. The drive shell is disposed for axial translation within the axially extending chamber. The drive shell includes a head disposed for translation along the axis to provide dose delivery, a plurality of engagement surfaces for engagement by the pushing feature, and a retention feature that inhibits proximal movement of the drive shell when engaged. Depression of the contact button axially translates the elongated shaft and pusher feature in engagement with the at least one of the engagement surfaces to translate the drive shell in the distal direction, whereby the retention feature engages to maintain axial position of the drive shell in the housing following dose delivery, and a biasing structure translates the plunger rod in the proximal direction following translation of the drive shell.
Injection Device and Detector Arrangement
The disclosure relates to an injection device for setting and injecting pre-set or user-selectable doses of a medicament, the injection device comprising an elongated housing defining a longitudinal direction and configured to accommodate a cartridge containing the medicament, and a detector arrangement operable to detect a relative movement between a first element and a second element. The first element is subject to a first movement relative to the second element along a first longitudinal direction for setting of a dose, the first element is subject to a second movement relative to the second element along a second longitudinal direction for dispensing of the dose, one of the first movement and the second movement is a helical movement, and the other one of the first movement and the second movement is a sliding movement in the longitudinal direction. The second element comprises at least one reference element fixed to the second element.
