SYRINGE NEEDLE REMOVAL APPARATUS
The injection needle removal device has: a cylindrical outer cylinder on an upper opening of an injection needle case; a helical track on an inner peripheral surface of the outer cylinder in a helical shape from an upper locking point to a lower locking point; a syringe holding cylinder helically advances in the outer cylinder along the helical track; an injection needle tightening ring on a lower end portion of the syringe holding cylinder, the injection needle tightening ring holds an injection needle base portion of a syringe in the syringe holding cylinder to clamp the injection needle base portion; and a locking mechanism that stops the syringe holding cylinder where the injection needle tightening ring is exposed from a lower side of the outer cylinder at the lower locking point. The injection needle tightening ring turns to remove the syringe needle base portion from the syringe body and to expand in a distal-end divided manner by a turning generated by a descending movement of the syringe holding cylinder proximate the lower locking point to discard the injection needle base portion into the injection needle accommodation case with the injection needle.
Needle tip storage and removal device
A needle tip storage and removal device comprises a storage compartment having a splined socket which engages complementary splines on a needle tip collar, the storage compartment being sealed by a peelable foil. Alongside the storage compartment is a removal compartment having a drive socket of similar configuration. The device assists safe removal and disposal of a used needle prior to fitting a new needle.
PEN NEEDLE REMOVAL DEVICE FOR A DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE
A removal device (121, 221) for removing and disposing of a pen needle (113, 213) connectable to a drug delivery device (111, 211) includes a body (123, 223) having a cavity (141, 241) for receiving the pen needle of the drug delivery device such that a patient end (116, 216) of a needle (115, 215) of the pen needle is covered by the body. An ejector (151, 251) is movably connected to the body (123, 223) for engaging the received pen needle (113, 213) and selectively ejecting the engaged pen needle from the body. The pen needle (113, 213) is securely retained within the removal device (121, 221) without exposing the needle (115, 215) of the pen needle until the pen needle (113, 213) can be properly disposed of, such as in a sharps container, thereby substantially preventing an accidental needle stick.
Apparatus and methods for reuse of injection needle for home users
A device for an injection needle that enables reuse of a single-use injection needle for multiple injection uses for a same user is described. The device has a needle cover with a disinfecting agent, a sanitizing agent and a lubricating agent that are positioned inside the needle cover. The needle cover sanitizes, disinfects and lubricates a single-use injection needle for reuse when the needle is moved inside the needle cover and positioned therein for temporary storage. The agents are held in a medium that enable the agents to be positioned inside the needle cover. The agents in the medium are stacked on top of each other in heights for different needle lengths. The first stack is a wick medium that absorbs excess fluid droplets from a needle head, the second stack is a medium that disinfects the needle, and the third stack is a medium that lubricates the needle.
COMPACT INJECTOR SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Devices and methods for a compact injector ar provided with a compact configuration for ease of carrying or storage, and an activated configuration ready for injection. In the compact configuration, a plunger and a needle are both retracted into the injector housing, and upon actuation to the activated configuration, the plunger extends proximally and the needle extends distally, ready for injection. An extendable needle shield is also provided to block visibility of the needle during injection, and to reduce the risk of inadvertent needle stick at other times, including disposal.
Drug delivery device with protective needle cap control and device activation mechanism
A drug delivery device includes an outer body receiving a cartridge with a needle, a needle cap adapted to be coupled to the outer body and to cover the needle and a control mechanism for activating the drug delivery device. The control mechanism includes a control element received within the outer body and axially and/or rotationally movable relative to the outer body between an initial position, a first activating position, and a second activating position. The control element is coupled to the needle cap and to the cartridge, the needle cap is retained on the outer body when the control element is in the initial position, the needle cap is released from the outer body and the needle is covered by the outer body when the control element is in the first activating position, and the needle is exposed when the control element is in the second activating position.
PEN NEEDLE ASSEMBLY APPARATUS
A pen needle assembly apparatus (60) includes a housing (30), a movable support (40) for supporting a pen needle (18), an ejector (80) for ejecting a used pen needle from the support, and an actuator (56). The support (40) is rotated relative to the housing (30) to index the pen needles to a position where the pen needle can be accessed and coupled to a delivery device (10). The used pen needle (18) is returned to the well (42) in the support and the support rotated toward the ejector (80) where the used pen needle is ejected to a compartment (50) in the housing for disposal. A cover (60) on the housing includes at least one opening (65) for accessing the pen needle when the support is rotated to position a pen needle relative to the opening in the cover.
SAFETY SYRINGE APPARATUS
An apparatus for use with a syringe to provide a safety syringe, the apparatus including: a sheath deployable for at least partially covering a needle of the syringe; a sheath actuator for deploying the sheath; and a ratioed mechanism linking the sheath and the sheath actuator and configured such that a magnitude of movement of the sheath is greater than a magnitude of movement of the sheath actuator during deployment of the sheath.
POLYMERIC INJECTION SYSTEMS
An injection system includes a molded body member having a body connection member at a distal end thereof. The system also includes a needle hub assembly coupled to the distal end of the injection system body. The needle hub assembly includes a needle hub coupled to the body connection member, a needle coupled to the needle hub, and a barbed band disposed around a proximal end of the needle hub and having a barb. The barbed band allows rotation of the needle hub assembly relative to the body connection member in a first direction, while preventing rotation of the needle hub assembly relative to the body connection member in a second direction.
TAMPER-EVIDENT CLOSURE ASSEMBLY
A tamper-evident closure assembly includes a connector having a receptacle defined by an outer surface of the connector, the receptacle having a depression and a wall adjacent the depression; a cap configured to attach to the connector and to rotate around the connector; a locking mechanism disposed on the cap, the locking mechanism having a locked configuration and an unlocked configuration, the locking mechanism having a tab movable between the locked configuration and the unlocked configuration; and a plug disposed on the tab, wherein when the locking mechanism is in the unlocked configuration, the plug is disposed outside of the receptacle on the connector, and when the locking mechanism is in the locked configuration, the plug is disposed at least partly within the receptacle, such that the cap is prevented from rotating around the connector.
