A device for transferring fluids in a closed system transfer device using flash for last drop extraction and to reduce coring. The device including a piercing member having a distal end and a proximal end and defining a longitudinal fluid channel. A first opening positioned at the distal end of the piercing member wherein the first opening is in fluid communication with the longitudinal fluid channel. A cover or flash positioned over the first opening. The cover including a pre-cut pattern wherein the cover opens along the pre-cut pattern upon application of a distally directed force from the longitudinal fluid channel. The distal end including the first opening having a steep taper to facilitate last drop extraction.

Apparatus and method for locating a nerve block site by establishing a reference plane and delivering anesthetic to the site

The present disclosure relates to a local anesthetic delivery device for delivering anesthetic to a nerve block site comprising a surgical mechanism for establishing a reference plane for identifying the nerve block site, wherein the surgical mechanism establishes the reference plane at the peritoneum and uses a known fixed distance to the nerve plane above to accurately locate the nerve block site and deliver anesthesia.

Plungerless aspiration and/or injection device and method using the same

A plungerless aspiration and/or injection device and a method of using the same are disclosed herein. The plungerless aspiration and/or injection device includes a housing; a needle portion disposed in the housing, the needle portion configured to be selectively retracted and extended by a user, the needle potion comprising a needle tip configured to be inserted into tissue of a patient for aspiration, injection, and/or implantation; and a bulb portion disposed in the housing, the bulb portion defining a fluid containing cavity that is fluidly coupled to the needle portion, and the bulb portion being elastically deformable so that the user is able to perform the aspiration, the injection, and/or the implantation on the patient by manipulating the bulb portion.

INTRODUCER NEEDLE WITH NOTCHES FOR IMPROVED FLASHBACK

An introducer needle may include a proximal end, a distal tip, and a needle lumen extending therebetween. The introducer needle may include a wall defining the needle lumen, a first notch formed through the wall, and a second notch formed through the wall. A catheter system may include a catheter adapter, a catheter extending distally from the distal end of the catheter adapter, a flash chamber coupled to the introducer needle, and the introducer needle, which may extend through the catheter. The first and second notches and the flash chamber may facilitate pressure-driven blood flow into the catheter for improved flashback and detection of transfixation when the catheter is primed prior to insertion into vasculature of a patient or otherwise.

TRANSCERVICAL ACCESS SYSTEMS FOR INTRAUTERINE FLUID EXCHANGE, SUCH AS PLACEMENT OF HYDROGELS FORMED IN SITU
20220142653 · 2022-05-12 ·

Transcervical access systems for providing transcervical movement of fluids are described. The transcervical access systems are effective for transferring a broad range of fluids, including the delivery of hydrogel precursors, saline, and imaging fluids, to the uterine cavity. The transcervical access systems are also effective for removing fluids from the uterine cavity, such as residual bodily fluids, residual fluids from a procedure, or tissue. The transcervical access systems described include flow limiters, such as egress limiters and/or cervical plugs. Methods of use of the transcervical access systems are also described. Methods include using the transcervical access systems to transcervical access the uterine cavity and install hydrogel. The transcervical access systems and associated methods can be useful for providing degradable hydrogel in the uterine cavity, including the cervical canal, for the prevention of adhesions following intrauterine procedures.

Multiple injection needle assembly

Some embodiments are directed to a needle assembly including at least N injection needles where N is at least four and a multiple of two. The needle assembly also includes a first liquid port adapted to be connected to an injection device, and N second liquid ports connected to one of the N injection needles. N/2 main liquid pathways each have an entrance connected to the first liquid port and an exit, further including N/2 secondary liquid pathways that have two extremities each opening on one of the N second liquid ports, and a mid portion connected to the exit of one of the main liquid pathways. The main liquid pathways and the secondary liquid pathways define N liquid flow paths between the first liquid port and the N second liquid ports dimensioned so a pressure drop between them is similar.

Device and method for high-control-steerable tip needles having rudder/keel and tip steering/angle changing means

A system of needles having rudders or keels is provided having perforations, such as kerfs, to allow the needles to be bent by the manipulations of wires imbedded within the needle body. The pulling or pushing of the embedded wires, or stylets, causes the needle tip to be bent, while within the body, to allow the needle to be steered past impediments towards the target necessitating treatment. Wires can be pulled or pushed and in some instances both a push and pull wire are provided to give the needle precision steerability. The needles are provided with a keel or rudder, or can be shaped such as with a teardrop cross-section, to give a degree of stabilization to the course the needle, and attendant tubing, takes within the patient. The kerf cut section of the needle, which can be on one side, two sides or all about the circumference of the needle, allows the needle to be bent one way and then, as needed, another way to allow the needle to be steered within the body.
