The check valve further includes a valve member mounted in the cavity to selectively permit fluid flow in a first direction, and prevent fluid backflow in a second direction opposite to the first direction. The valve member includes a valve body and a valve stem portion extending axially through a central axis of the valve body.

CONNECTOR WITH INTEGRATED NON-RETURN CHECK VALVE FOR EXTENSION TUBING AND UROLOGY COLLECTION SYSTEMS
20190091461 · 2019-03-28 · ·

A connector-with-integrated-check-valve for minimizing microbial migration to catheter-tubing is formed from three parts: a connector-for-catheter-tubing that is hollow and with an internal valve seat; an elastomer gate (sometimes with disc and stem); and a connector-for-extension-tubing that is hollow and with support-surfaces. When one end of the connector-for-catheter-tubing is attached to one end of the connector-for-extension-tubing, a pocket is formed where the seat is disposed opposite and facing the support-surfaces; the gate is disposed within this pocket; such that when the gate contacts this seat due to urine backflow (reflux), the connector-with-integrated-check-valve is closed to such urine backflow; and where a remaining end of the connector-for-catheter-tubing is attachable to catheter-tubing; and where a remaining end of the connector-for-extension-tubing is attachable to the extension-tubing, such that there is a continuous urine flow path from the catheter-tubing, to the connector-with-integrated-check-valve when open, and to the extension-tubing.

FLUID FLOW CONTROL SYSTEMS FOR MEDICAL APPLICATIONS
20190030314 · 2019-01-31 · ·

In one aspect, fluid flow control systems, such as for medical applications, may include a resistance barrier and a flexible ring that may receive a device. The resistance barrier may exert barrier forces on the device, and the flexible ring may exert ring forces on the device, in order to create a fluid tight seal.

Flow based pressure isolation and fluid delivery system including flow based pressure isolation and flow initiating mechanism
10137294 · 2018-11-27 · ·

A method for protecting a pressure transducer from fluid pressure damage using a pressure isolation mechanism is disclosed. The method includes associating the pressure transducer with an isolation port of the pressure isolation mechanism, placing a pressurizing device for delivering fluid under pressure in fluid connection with an inlet port of the pressure isolation mechanism, and actuating the pressurizing device to cause fluid flow in the inlet port such that a free floating, fluid flow responsive valve member positioned in an internal cavity of the pressure isolation mechanism engages a seal seat therein to attain a closed position, preventing fluid flow between the inlet port and the isolation port and thus prevent overpressure in the isolation port. Hemodynamic pressure signals read with the pressure transducer may be transmitted at least in part through a body of the valve member, or a portion thereof, when in the closed position.

CHECK VALVE ASSEMBLY

A check valve assembly is configured to couple to a first container that retains a first fluid and a second container that retains a second fluid. The check valve includes a fluid inlet housing including a first fluid inlet port defining a first fluid inlet channel, and a second fluid inlet port defining a second fluid inlet channel. A fluid outlet housing is coupled to the fluid inlet housing. The fluid outlet housing includes a fluid outlet port defining a fluid outlet channel. A first diaphragm is seated over the first fluid inlet channel. At least a portion of the first diaphragm is configured to unseat over the first fluid inlet channel to allow the first fluid to pass from the first fluid inlet channel into the fluid outlet channel. A second diaphragm is seated over the second fluid inlet channel. At least a portion of the second diaphragm is configured to unseat over the first fluid inlet channel to allow the second fluid to pass from the second fluid inlet channel into the fluid outlet channel.

Transfer catheter for ultraviolet disinfection

Disclosed herein are devices and methods related to UV disinfection of a transfer catheter during peritoneal dialysis. The transfer catheter comprises a first and second end, the second end comprising a transfer valve. The transfer valve body comprises an inlet, outlet, and a flush hole. The valve core comprises a notch configured to allow fluid flow between the various flow paths. The valve core and body are positioned off axis with respect to the fluid flow path. The transfer catheter can allow for a small volume kill zone, which can minimize the amount of UV required to disinfect the catheter.
