Vacuum Pressure Regulators for Use During Blood Collection

A regulator for modulation of the flow rate of blood out of a patient's blood vessel during blood collection is disclosed. The regulator includes a housing having a housing inlet, a housing outlet, and a wall defining a housing interior. At least a portion of the wall includes a flexible member. A valve is associated with the flexible member and is in communication with the housing interior. The regulator is designed so that upon an application of a differential pressure within the housing interior, the flexible member and/or valve automatically move with respect to either the housing inlet or housing outlet to modulate a flow of blood moving through the housing. A manual over-ride device can be provided to enable a user to over-ride the automatic regulation and manually regulate the flow of blood through the housing.

A check valve includes an upper housing defining an inlet of the check valve, a lower housing defining an outlet of the check valve, and a cavity interposed between and defined by the upper and lower housings for fluidly connecting the inlet and the outlet. The check valve further includes a valve member mounted in the cavity to selectively permit fluid flow in a first direction, and prevent fluid backflow in a second direction opposite to the first direction. The valve member includes a valve body and a valve stem portion extending axially through a central axis of the valve body. The valve member may further include a plurality of feet disposed about and extending longitudinally from an outer circumferential perimeter of the valve body.

Fluid connector system

Fluid connector systems including first and second connector portions couplable together to form a fluid pathway therethrough, and can resist fluid flow through the connector when the connector portions are separated from each other. A connector portion can include a connector housing, a luer portion, and a deformable valve member. The deformable valve member is disposed within the connector housing and includes a spherical portion extending partially through a valve opening of the connector housing. The spherical portion defines a slit, and the deformable valve member is configured to selectively prevent fluid flow from the housing volume through the valve opening and to deform to expand the slit and permit fluid flow from the housing volume through the valve opening.

VALVE WITH INTERNAL MEMBER

A valve with an internal member is disclosed which allows exhaled carbon dioxide to escape from a breathing circuit when the circuit gas pressure drops below a threshold pressure. The valve operates by occluding one or more ports under a relatively high pressure and opening the one or more ports under a relatively low pressure. The internal member is attached to the body of the valve at two or more locations on the internal member. The internal member moves in a direction perpendicular to the gas flow through the valve.

Medical Device, Method And System For Temporary Occlusion Of An Opening In A Lumen Of A Body

A medical system is disclosed that has three basic components; a retractable sheet, a first balloon that has a centrally arranged hollow, and a collapsible/expandable support structure at the hollow. The first balloon is for instance mounted/molded onto the exterior surface of the support structure. The aggregate of support structure and the first balloon is positioned, and once the sheet has been retracted from the first balloon, the first balloon is inflated. The support structure may be self-expandable or expandable by an expansion unit, such as a further balloon arranged at its inside. The lumen of the support structure is chosen to be smaller than that of a main lumen. The outside diameter of the inflated first balloon is chosen to be larger than the interior diameter of the main lumen.

DIAPHRAGM CHECK VALVE

A check valve, including a valve and a valve support surface, to permit a fluid to move through the check valve in a first direction and resist a fluid flow through the valve in a second direction, the valve having a valve diaphragm and an isolating bridge, with a portion of the valve engaging against valve support surface to resist deformation or stretching of the valve when a backflow of fluid into the check valve occurs. The valve support surface having a first support surface and a second support surface, and the valve positioned with the valve diaphragm spaced apart from the first support surface, and the isolating bridge spaced apart from the second support surface.

INTRAVENOUS CATHETER WITH PRESSURE ACTIVATED VALVE

The anti-back-flow devices and methods prevent fluid from leaking proximally from a catheter, but allow ready access to the catheter using any male luer device. The devices include proximal surfaces that urge open a valve in response to force from a male luer tip. The valves are associated a female luer hub and adapted to function with standard and typical non-standard male luer fittings.
