Wearable cardiac defibrillator systems and methods and software for contacting non-witnessing responders

A WCD system is configured to detect when a therapy administered to a patient by the WCD system is unsuccessful, and in response determine whether to send notifications to remote non-witness responders. The WCD system may be configured to decide to send such notifications after the WCD system determines it has administered a predetermined number of unsuccessful shocks to the patient. The predetermined number of unsuccessful shocks may be the maximum number of unsuccessful shocks the WCD system will administer to a patient, or every Xth shock (e.g., 3.sup.rd shock). The WCD system can be configured to periodically resend the notification. The notifications may be in form of SMS, voice messages, emails, app notifications, etc. sent to cell phones, smartphones, computers, laptops, tablets etc. of the responders either directly, via a server, or via a CAD-coupled server.

A cabinet capable of attenuating or blocking wireless signals contains, a medical device, such as an AED, an internal directional antenna mounted to an internal surface of the cabinet, an external omnidirectional antenna mounted to an external surface of the cabinet, and an electrical connection between the internal directional antenna and the external omnidirectional antenna. The internal and external antennas are configured to transmit wireless signals at particular frequencies and to receive wireless signals at the particular frequencies. The internal antenna is a high gain directional antenna, and the external antenna is a lower gain omnidirectional antenna.

IMPEDANCE MEASUREMENT CIRCUIT ARCHITECTURE
20220266044 · 2022-08-25 ·

A lead impedance stimulation architecture and a dual current source and sink methodology to output a biphasic current pulse and measure a resulting induced voltage across the stimulation electrodes to determine lead impedance. A common mode capacitance on the electrode interface may have little impact on the stimulation architecture of this disclosure allowing for fast voltage rise time and consistent and accurate impedance measurement. In addition, the dual source and sink includes a monitor circuit on each of the source and the sink circuitry. In the event of an open circuit indicating a lead breakage, loose connection, lead migration, insulation leak, and so on, the monitor circuit may provide an output to indicate specifically which electrode is unable to reach the correct current stimulation amplitude. In this manner the techniques of this disclosure, may also detect a lead break in a single lead impedance measurement.

Implantable medical devices with flexible interconnect having strain relief

Implantable medical devices including interconnections having strain-relief structure. The interconnections can take the form of flexible circuits. Strain relief gaps and shapes are integrated in the interconnections to relieve forces in each of three dimensions. In some examples, the region of an interconnection which couples with a component of the implantable medical device is separated by a strain relief gap from a connection to a second component and/or a location where the flex bends around a corner.

A dumpster and portable toilet system that includes a chassis with a dumpster mounted thereto, a portable toilet housing portion and a transportation vehicle. The chassis has an attachment region. The dumpster portion has an enclosure that is adapted for receiving refuse. The portable toilet housing portion is removably attachable to the attachment region to form a dumpster and portable toilet system. The portable toilet housing portion has a recess formed therein that is adapted to receive a portable toilet. The transportation vehicle has a hoist mechanism for placing the dumpster and portable toilet system onto the transportation vehicle and moving the dumpster and portable toilet system off of the transportation vehicle.

ELECTRODE DESIGNS IN IMPLANTABLE DEFIBRILLATOR SYSTEMS

A subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (S-ICD) comprising shocking electrodes configured to reduce the defibrillation threshold. The S-ICD may include a canister housing a source of electrical energy, a capacitor, and operational circuitry that senses heart rhythms and an electrode and lead assembly. The electrode and lead assembly may comprise a lead, at least one sensing electrode, and at least one shocking electrode. The at least one shocking electrode may extend over a length in the range of 50 to 110 millimeters and a width in the range of 1 to 40 millimeters.

WCD SYSTEM VALIDATING DETECTED CARDIAC ARRHYTHMIAS THOROUGHLY SO AS TO NOT SOUND LOUDLY DUE TO SOME QUICKLY SELF-TERMINATING CARDIAC ARRHYTHMIAS

A wearable cardioverter defibrillator (“WCD”) system may output a loud sound after detecting and validating a shockable cardiac arrhythmia. In such embodiments, however, the WCD system might not sound a loud alarm before validating the arrhythmia thoroughly, i.e. for a longer time, thus giving the arrhythmia a further chance to self-terminate. The WCD system may thus detect more robustly the cardiac arrhythmias that do not self-terminate quickly. Such arrhythmias that self-terminate quickly may occur from likely harmless events occurring multiple times in the daily life of the patient, such as the patient becoming “winded” from climbing stairs. In embodiments the WCD system may notify the patient only discreetly, or even not at all. The lack of sounding such a loud alarm responsive to such events reduces the overall number of times in which the patient experiences unwanted attention by others, embarrassment, loss of privacy and dignity, and so on.

Intuitive overlaid readiness indicator for defibrillators
09808639 · 2017-11-07 · ·

A fail-safe visual indicator (62) for indicating the readiness status of a medical device is described. The visual indicator incorporates iconic status indications (67, 70) which are easier to understand for users of all nationalities and languages. The status indications are superimposed upon each other in order to reduce the space required on the medical device for the indicator.

Electrocardiogram identification

A defibrillating system includes a processor coupled to a memory. The processor and the memory are configured to identify a treatment event associated with treatment of a victim with the defibrillating system, and transmit a representation of a portion of an ECG signal associated with the identified treatment event. In some cases, the processor and the memory are configured to identify the portion of the ECG signal associated with the identified treatment event. In some cases, the portion of the ECG signal is of a predetermined length of time having a start time and an end time based on a time associated with the identified treatment event.
