The present invention may be embodied as a system or method for dynamically exercising a user's neck muscles. The system includes a headset, an arm attached thereto, a weight, and at least one motor to move the weight, for example, about the arm. The weight may be mounted eccentrically on a radial track that is rotatable by one motor and moved linearly by another motor. The direction of the arm, the distance between an apex of the headset and the weight, the eccentricity of the weight on the axis, and the speed of rotation of the motor are all parameters that can be adjusted by the caregiver or user, either manually or via controlling software.

A sports and performance media positional detection system, comprising: at least two elements, with at least one element involved in the sporting activity; a power source; and machine-to-machine communication, which are collectively arranged such that if any two or more elements interact, their electromagnetic properties can be detected thus allowing the position of the interacting elements to be communicated to a decision maker. The system can be applied to at least one stationary element, which can be the playing surface, lines defining the boundaries, or a set of goalposts; and at least one moving element, which could be a ball, footwear, or the participants themselves. A safety signal is sent to a relay coupled to a plurality of power leads of a motor wherein a default state of the relay is to short the plurality of power leads together and wherein the safety signal maintains the relay in an open state. The safety signal to the relay is deasserted in response to a determination that an unsafe condition has occurred.

A golf swing playing aid device for use on a conventional golf club having a handle, an impact head and a shaft. The golf swing playing aid device may include a grip member having an outer portion and an inner portion. The outer portion may be adapted to be grasped by a hand of the user. The inner portion may be configured to slide along the golf club shaft. The playing aid device may include an electronic device including a rotational sensor adapted to detect a change in rotation relative to at least one axis, and a controller operably coupled to the rotational sensor. The controller may read the rotational sensor to determine the change in rotation relative to at least one axis. When the change in rotation is greater than a threshold amount, the controller may provide an indication to the user, thereby indicating over-rotation of the golf swing.

A system and method for evaluation, detection, conditioning, and treatment of neurological functioning and conditions which uses data obtained while a person is engaged in simultaneously in a range of primary physical tasks combined with defined types of associative activity, such as listening, reading, speaking, mathematics, logic puzzles, navigation of a virtual environment, recall of past stimuli, etc. The data from the physical and associative activities are combined to generate a composite functioning score visualization indicating the relative functioning of areas aspects of neurological functioning; including those in which deficiencies may be present, which are early indicators of possible neurological conditions. Through algorithmic recommendations combined with expert and user input, a conditioning regimen targeting neurological aspects of interest paired with periodic testing allows the user to track their progress in these areas over time.

A device for training and rehabilitation of a limb is provided. The device provides a board with an ability to magnetically levitate a movement base above the board to allow for controlled movement of a limb or other body part of a user needing training and rehabilitation in various directions.

Embodiments described herein are related to a sports training device. The sports training device may include a base structure having a supporting element and a shaft coupled to the base structure such that the shaft is selectively raised or lowered relative to the base structure. A resilient rod may be coupled to the second end of the shaft and disposed. The resilient rod may be capable of bending to absorb an impulse and returning to a first resting position along. A longitudinal rod structure may be coupled to the resilient rod. The longitudinal rod structure may be disposed along the first axis and capable of rotating with the bending of the resilient rod. A reference object may be coupled to an end of the longitudinal rod structure. The reference object may be disposed along or proximate to a target trajectory of a sports ball.

A weight training apparatus includes an electrical hoist and a cable coupled to the electrical hoist. A first end of the cable is coupled to the electrical hoist and a second end is configured to attach to a barbell assembly. A sensor is configured to output a signal indicative of a lift position of the barbell assembly. A controller is programmed to compare the lift position to an predetermined vertical locations and activate the electrical hoist to change the lift position of the barbell assembly based at least in part on at least one of the lift position or vertical lift velocity relative to the predetermined vertical locations.

In a first aspect, a method for monitoring a golf swing is provided that includes coupling a mobile telephone to a golf club and employing the mobile telephone coupled to the golf club to monitor acceleration of the mobile telephone as the mobile telephone swings while a user swings the golf club, collect acceleration information based on the monitored acceleration of the mobile telephone as the mobile telephone swings, analyze the collected acceleration information to determine one or more characteristics of the golf swing based on the collected acceleration information, and output information regarding the one or more characteristics of the golf swing on the display of the mobile telephone. Posture training systems provide hands-free shoulder and back\spine alignment assistance for facilitating correct posture and alignment of the shoulders and spine of an athlete throughout swing or other physical rotational movements, and methods of their use. The posture training systems include vests that provide information during and throughout the rotational movement about spine-tilt angle relative to the ground, plane of the shoulders during torso rotation, perpendicularity between the spine and a line drawn between the shoulders, as well as departures from or maintenance of any of the initial parameters.
