An adjustably tensioned, transverse-suspended elastic element exercise device is disclosed. The transverse element is suspended between rigidly mounted frame or arm elements and sized so as to enable full range of motion exercises. The tension and height of the transverse elastic member can be adjusted to accommodate varying exercise levels and positions. The assembly may include handgrips and attachments to augment workouts. Electronic adjustability, metrics, programmability and Internet connectivity enhance the user experience. A method of using the device is also disclosed.

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for measuring the location, the amplitude, and/or the direction of forces applied to a walking or running surface. An example system includes a pressure-sensitive sheet that extends along a first axis. The pressure-sensitive sheet includes a top surface and a bottom surface. A vertical force applied at a location along at least one of the top surface or the bottom surface forms an electrical path between the top surface and the bottom surface having a resistance, r.sub.f, that is inversely proportional to an amplitude of the vertical force. The system further includes read out circuitry configured to provide information indicative of the amplitude of the vertical force and the location of the vertical force along the first axis of the pressure-sensitive sheet.

Systems and methods for dynamic resistance training are provided that include the use of a dynamic force module. The dynamic force module includes an actuator and controller adapted to control the actuator according to a force profile that specifies the relationship between an operational parameter of the actuator and a measured parameter associated with a user performing an exercise. The dynamic force module is also capable of communicating with a broader network system to facilitate storing and distribution of force profiles and user profile information. The network system further includes features for, among other things, generating and managing force profiles, uploading multimedia content, and tracking user progress.

In a first aspect, a method for monitoring a golf swing is provided that includes coupling a mobile telephone to a golf club and employing the mobile telephone coupled to the golf club to monitor acceleration of the mobile telephone as the mobile telephone swings while a user swings the golf club, collect acceleration information based on the monitored acceleration of the mobile telephone as the mobile telephone swings, analyze the collected acceleration information to determine one or more characteristics of the golf swing based on the collected acceleration information, and output information regarding the one or more characteristics of the golf swing on the display of the mobile telephone. In a first aspect, a system for monitoring a swing is provided that includes (1) a swing measurement device adapted to couple to a swinging object and to output a signal indicative of a characteristic of the swinging object; (2) a wireless transmitter coupled to the swing measurement device and adapted to wirelessly transmit the signal output by the swing measurement device; and (3) a wireless device adapted to receive the wirelessly transmitted signal and to provide information regarding the swinging object based on the received signal. The wireless device is a cellular telephone or personal digital assistant (PDA). Numerous other aspects are provided.

A treadmill arrangement, having a treadmill stand and an endless belt which runs over rollers mounted in the treadmill stand and is driven by a drive, with one surface of the endless belt serving as a walking or running surface. A motion state detection device is allocated to the treadmill to detect a motion state or a positional change of the legs and/or feet of the user relative to the treadmill stand and to obtain a control signal for the drive.

A tennis training system may include a target mat including an intersection point and radial lines extending from the intersection point to visibly define sections. A target device may align with the target mat. The target device may include a body, a target assembly coupled to a first end of the body to define a target opening, and a base coupled to a second end of the body opposite the first end.

An exercise device includes a base defining an inner volume and a top supported by the base, the top defining an aperture. The exercise device further includes a force sensor configured to measure force on the top and a motor disposed within the base and below the top, the motor including a cable extendable through the aperture. The exercise deice further includes a controller communicatively coupled to each of the force sensor and the motor. The controller is adapted to actuate the motor in response to forces applied to the top as measured by the force sensor. The controller may also actuate the motor in response to one or more additional parameters related to the speed or force with which the cable is manipulated (e.g., pulled by a user).

A mobile molding system, comprising a vehicle and one or more molds arranged on the vehicle configured for receiving one or more expandable nonwoven substrates, heating said one or more expandable nonwoven substrates so as to cause said one or more expandable nonwoven substrates to expand and fill the one or more molds with one or more expanded nonwoven containing articles of three dimensional shape, and releasing said one or more expanded nonwoven containing articles of three dimensional shape from the one or more molds is provided. A ball machine comprising an imaging system to capture image data and a processor configured to, for a frame of the image data, analyze the image data using a neural network to detect a plurality of persons, determine a coordinate position on a playing surface of each of the plurality of detected persons, extract features of each of the plurality of detected persons, generate a first set of feature vectors corresponding to the plurality of detected persons, associate a first feature vector to the coordinate position on the playing surface of a first detected person to generate a first unique identifier, associate a second feature vector to the coordinate position on the playing surface of a second detected person to generate a second unique identifier, and control the ball machine to launch balls based on first settings corresponding to the first unique identifier and second settings corresponding to the second unique identifier.
