A convertible hip belt and backpack system for efficient travel include an apparatus with the convertible hip belt. The system includes a backpack having a main compartment and right and left shoulder straps. The system further includes a convertible hip belt having a backpack mode and an independent mode. In the backpack mode, the convertible hip belt includes a right hip pocket and a left hip pocket detachably coupled to the backpack. The convertible hip belt includes a separable fastener that adjustably couples a strap end of the right hip pocket to a strap end of the left hip pocket. In the independent mode, the convertible hip belt is decoupled from the backpack and the right and left hip pockets are instead coupled to each other.

In a first configuration, the first portion of the first attachment mechanism is coupled to the first portion of the second attachment mechanism. In a second configuration, the first portion of the first attachment mechanism is coupled to the second portion of the first attachment mechanism, and the first portion of the second attachment mechanism is coupled to the second portion of the second attachment mechanism.

A system comprises a first body, comprising: a backpack suspension; a first storage region; and a first portion of a first attachment mechanism. A second body comprises: a second storage region; and a first portion of a second attachment mechanism. A third body comprises: a third storage region; a second portion of the first attachment mechanism; and a second portion of the second attachment mechanism. In a first configuration, the first portion of the first attachment mechanism is coupled to the first portion of the second attachment mechanism. In a second configuration, the first portion of the first attachment mechanism is coupled to the second portion of the first attachment mechanism, and the first portion of the second attachment mechanism is coupled to the second portion of the second attachment mechanism.

In aspects, the invention provides a modifiable backpack system comprising a backpack and an insertable two-position transformable divider wherein the insertable divider is selectively engageable with the backpack. In aspects the insertable divider comprises first and second panels having similar dimensions and connecting to each other through a flexible material, seam, or other hinge. In aspects the insertable divider repeatedly assumes a first or second stable position when the insertable divider is attached to the backpack and when sufficient force is applied to either the first or second divider panels such that both the first and second divider panels transitionally move about the flexible material, seam, or other hinge. In aspects the first and second divider panels are at least substantially perpendicular to each other in either the first or second stable positions. In aspects, the system provides an ability to relocate storage capacity from one formable compartment to another.

In aspects, the invention provides a modifiable backpack system comprising a backpack and an insertable two-position transformable divider wherein the insertable divider is selectively engageable with the backpack. In aspects the insertable divider comprises first and second panels having similar dimensions and connecting to each other through a flexible material, seam, or other hinge. In aspects the insertable divider repeatedly assumes a first or second stable position when the insertable divider is attached to the backpack and when sufficient force is applied to either the first or second divider panels such that both the first and second divider panels transitionally move about the flexible material, seam, or other hinge. In aspects the first and second divider panels are at least substantially perpendicular to each other in either the first or second stable positions. In aspects, the system provides an ability to relocate storage capacity from one formable compartment to another.

A transformable floor chair has a seat and a back. The seat has straps for carrying the chair when transformed into a transportation configuration. The straps are located on the underside of the seat when in a deployed configuration. A backpack including zippered enclosure is affixed to the rear of the floor chair back. The backpack remains usable and functional when in either the transportation configuration or the deployed configuration. When transformed into the transportation configuration, the upper portion of the seat is secured to the front face of the chair back, thereby sandwiching the chair between the straps and the backpack.

A transformable floor chair has a seat and a back. The seat has straps for carrying the chair when transformed into a transportation configuration. The straps are located on the underside of the seat when in a deployed configuration. A backpack including zippered enclosure is affixed to the rear of the floor chair back. The backpack remains usable and functional when in either the transportation configuration or the deployed configuration. In one example, a backpack chair includes a U-shaped frame to form a base for the backpack chair. The U-shaped frame has two sides connected to each other by a semicircular section. In a sitting mode where the backpack chair is for sitting, the two sides of the U-shaped frame extend in a horizontal plane and the semicircular section extends in a substantially vertical plane. In a backpack mode where the backpack chair is carried as a backpack, the two sides extend in a vertical plane and the semicircular section extends in a substantially horizontal plane. The backpack chair comprises a top member that includes a combined seat and back support for the U-shaped frame. In the sitting mode, the top member is attached to the U-shaped frame, and in the backpack mode, the top member is detached from the U-shaped frame.

In one example, a backpack chair includes a U-shaped frame to form a base for the backpack chair. The U-shaped frame has two sides connected to each other by a semicircular section. In a sitting mode where the backpack chair is for sitting, the two sides of the U-shaped frame extend in a horizontal plane and the semicircular section extends in a substantially vertical plane. In a backpack mode where the backpack chair is carried as a backpack, the two sides extend in a vertical plane and the semicircular section extends in a substantially horizontal plane. The backpack chair comprises a top member that includes a combined seat and back support for the U-shaped frame. In the sitting mode, the top member is attached to the U-shaped frame, and in the backpack mode, the top member is detached from the U-shaped frame.
