A machine for the preparation of liquid products via capsules comprising a delivery assembly with a preparation chamber, which comprises a first part and a second part. The second part of chamber comprises an injector device, which is configured for introducing a preparation fluid into a capsule and has a hollow body and includes a first body part and a second body part. Defined between the two body parts is a chamber, housed in which is a perforation device having at least one front perforation element that is axially aligned to a respective through hole, defined in a front wall of the second body part of the injector device. The second body part is slidable, against the action of elastic means, from an advanced position, in which the at least one perforation element does not project substantially beyond the front wall, to a retracted position, where the at least one perforation element projects substantially beyond the front wall. The elastic means comprise a bending spring that extends in a direction transverse to the direction of axial sliding (X) of the second body part with respect to the first body part.

Capsule containing a substance for the preparation of a potable beverage, the capsule having an aluminum capsule body having a side wall and an outwardly extending flange and a sealing member at the outwardly extending flange for providing a fluid sealing contact with an enclosing member of a beverage preparation device. The beverage preparation device comprises an annular element having a free contact end which may be provided with a plurality of radially extending open grooves. The present invention relates to a machine (1) for preparing aromatic beverages by means of extraction of a respective substance, such as espresso coffee and similar, that is characterized in that it comprises at least one extraction device (3) adapted for extracting an single dose of said substance provided in a package (2), for example in the form of a substantially rigid capsule or substantially flexible pod, and a previous opening disposition (5) disposed upstream of said extraction device (3) and adapted to provide passageways (53) in said single dose packages (2) before the latter are supplied to said extraction device (3).

A beverage system that includes a capsule and a beverage machine. The capsule includes: a base element; a flange that includes a top side and a bottom side; a cover fastened to the top side, the cover is bowed outwardly and includes a region configured to be pierced; a barrier layer to prevent moisture or aroma from escaping out of the capsule; and an identifier on the bottom side of the flange. The machine includes: a sensor/detector; an insertion shaft configured to receive the capsule; a pump controlled to supply water into the capsule only upon detection of the identifier and a determination by the machine that the capsule is suitable for use with the machine; a mandrel to pierce the cover; a groove that is laterally offset from the mandrel; and a seal that is at least partially seated in the groove and configured to bear against the cover.

The brewing system disclosed herein includes a moving inlet nozzle for use in intermixing hot water and coffee in a coffee cartridge. The inlet nozzle may include one or more flow ports that inject hot water into an inner chamber of the coffee cartridge at select angles, locations and pressures to create the desired fluidized mixture of hot water and beverage medium.

A single-serve capsule for making a beverage, having: a base element with a cavity, in which a raw beverage material is provided, the base element is made of a biodegradable material, a flange extending outwardly from the base element, the flange comprising a top side and an opposing bottom side, and a cover that is fastened to the top side of the flange to close the cavity, the cover is made of a same material as the base element. The single-serve capsule is free of a filter, and has an identifier, which makes it possible to individualize the respective single-serve capsule, the identifier is provided on the bottom side of the flange.
