A system for preparing a quantity of beverage suitable for consumption includes a second exchangeable capsule having a second body with a second flange-like rim and a second exit face attached to the second flange-like rim. The system further includes an apparatus for preparing a quantity of beverage suitable for consumption having a first brew chamber part having a cavity for holding the second exchangeable capsule and a second brew chamber part for closing the first brew chamber part around the second exchangeable capsule. The first brew chamber part has a first substantially annular abutment surface in the cavity and further has a second substantially annular abutment surface. A diameter of the second annular abutment surface is larger than a diameter of the first annular abutment surface. The second abutment surface is arranged for abutting the second flange-like rim there against when the cavity holds the second exchangeable capsule.
Beverage preparation machine with a controlled pump
A beverage preparation machine (1) comprises a source of liquid (2,3) and a dispensing outlet (4) connected via a pump (10) that includes a chamber (11) and a displaceable wall (12) delimiting the chamber (11). The pump (10) further has: an electric actuator (13) driving the displaceable wall (12) for causing an inflow of liquid from the source into the chamber (11) and for causing an outflow of liquid from the chamber (11) to the dispensing outlet (4); and a powering unit (14) that comprises an electric power source (142) and that is configured for supplying power to the actuator (13). The powering unit (14) further comprises: a sensor (143) for measuring an electrical parameter representative of a consumption of power by the actuator (13); and a control unit (144) that is connected to the sensor (143) and to the electrical power source (142) and that is configured to control the power supplied to the actuator (13) by the electric power source (142) as a function of: the measured parameter; and a desired liquid input into the chamber (11) and/or liquid output from the chamber (11), such as a desired flow and/or pressure of the liquid input and/or of the liquid output.

A system for preparing a quantity of beverage, including first and second capsules, and an apparatus including a first and a second brew chamber part, wherein at least a portion of the second brew chamber part is movable into a first and a second brewing position, wherein the first brew chamber part is movable between a loading position and a brewing position, wherein the first brew chamber part in the brewing position together with the at least one portion of the second brew chamber part in the first brewing position and in the second position define respective closed positions in which the first exchangeable capsule and the second capsule fit in the brew chamber, respectively. AUTOMATIC SINGLE-SERVING BEVERAGE BREWING SYSTEM
A brewing system comprises a grinder, a brewer, a capsule holder, and a controller. The grinder is configured to grind whole coffee beans into coffee grounds with adjustable coarseness. The grinder is configured to receive the whole coffee beans through a first opening above the grinder and dispense the coffee grounds through a second opening below the grinder. The brewer is configured to dispense water for brewing coffee through a third opening below the brewer, wherein the brewer is positioned laterally relative to the grinder. The capsule dock is configured to (a) hold a capsule containing a coffee filter and (b) translate the capsule from a first position under the second opening of the grinder to a second position under the third opening below the brewer. The controller is configured to control the grinder, brewer, and capsule dock.

A portion capsule base body defines a directed axis and is fillable with an extraction material. The base body has a bottom region, a circumferential side wall adjoining the bottom region and having an outer surface, an a circumferential collar region adjoining the side wall, and through which an opening is defined. The axis is centrally extending through the bottom region and through the opening, and defines an axial direction pointing from the bottom region through the opening. A distance measured perpendicular to the axis is referred to as the axial distance, and the side wall has at least one ramp element by which at least one ramp region is defined in which the axial distance of the outer surface is increasing along the axial direction.

The drawer assembly includes a platform located within the housing for positioning a capsule puncturing needle. The drawer assembly includes a drawer. A method of operating drawer assembly for a capsule based brewing machine includes translating a drawer along a track of a housing from an extracted position to an inserted position, changing a vertical distance between a top surface of the drawer and a lower surface of a platform, and puncturing a capsule with a puncturing needle.

The present invention relates to a dispensing device (10) for dispensing a food product from a exchangeable multi-dose container (1), the device comprising a support (9) for removably supporting the container (1), a sealable dosing chamber (4) for receiving, dosing and holding a dose of food product dispensed from the container (1), oxygen reducing means (5) designed for reducing oxygen level in the dosing chamber (4), characterized in that the device further comprises at least one piston (7) arranged to move relatively to the support (9) of the device, and configured to at least partially enclose the dosing chamber (4) in an initial sealingly engaged position of the piston with the support (9), the piston (7) being designed for selectively opening the container (1) by moving relatively to the support (8) and for enabling the dosing chamber (4) to be charged with the dose of food product in an extended and sealingly disengaged position of the piston (7) relative to the support (9).

A capsule beverage machine (1) has: a passage (2) for evacuating used capsules (100); a capsule collector (10) having a bottom (11) and sidewalls (12,12′) delimiting a cavity (13) with a cavity entry opening (14) and a cavity volume for storing the used capsules (100); and a seat (20) into which the evacuation passage (2) leads, the collector (10) having a collection position in which the collector (10) is removably located in the seat (20) for collecting capsules (100) delivered via the passage (2) and the entry opening (14). The seat (20) and the collector (10) are configured to adjust the cavity volume of the cavity (13) so that the cavity volume is smaller when the collector (10) is located in the seat and larger at removal of the collector (10) from the seat. The sidewalls (12,12′) include at least one sidewall (12′) that is movably mounted in the collector (10). The seat (20) and/or the movable sidewall (12′) has an interacting seat member (21). The member (21) protrudes from the movable sidewall (12′) towards a side (22) of the seat (20) or from the side (22) of the seat (20) towards the movable sidewall (12′). When the collector (10) is in its collection position, the member (21) is urged against the side (22) of the seat (20) or against the movable sidewall (12′), whereby the movable sidewall (12′) is displaced towards an inside (10′) of the cavity (13). The movable sidewall (12′) is allowed to move towards an outside (20′) of the cavity (13) when the movable sidewall (12′) is withdrawn from the seat (20).
