A portion capsule for producing a beverage. The portion capsule has a capsule body including a cavity. A filter is located inside of the cavity. The filter is configured to stretch and/or yield upon contact with an external perforation means. A lid is attached to the capsule body.

A capsule containing a substance for the preparation of a beverage has an aluminum capsule body and a cover sheet hermetically closing off the capsule. The capsule body has a flange with a deformable sealing ring portion with an inner wall portion extending from and contiguous with an inner base portion of the flange, an outer wall portion extending from and contiguous with an outer base portion of the flange and a bridge portion interconnecting the inner wall portion and the outer wall portion. The bridge portion is located axially spaced from the base portions of the flange. A capsule is designed for insertion in a centrifugal beverage production device for preparing a beverage from a substance contained in the capsule by introducing liquid in the capsule and passing the liquid through the substance using centrifugal forces. The capsule includes a body having a bottom end and an open end spaced apart in the axial direction, an upper wall for covering the body at the open end along a direction transverse to the axial direction, and an enclosure between the body and the upper wall containing a predetermined amount of beverage substance. The capsule further includes an annular pressure-setting ring configured for adjusting the backpressure in the beverage production device. The pressure-setting ring provides an improved coffee in-cup quality. A set of capsules can have pressure-setting rings of different dimensions for setting different backpressure when engaged in a centrifuging beverage production device.

The invention relates to a cartridge (1) for preparation of a beverage upon injection of liquid into the cartridge, the cartridge comprising at least a first compartment (2) and a second compartment (3) for holding beverage ingredients, an injection area (4) for receiving a liquid injected into the cartridge, and flow dividing means (8) designed for providing a fluid communication between the injection area (4) and the first and second compartment (2, 3), wherein the flow dividing means (8) are designed to provide a preferred flow path for liquid from the injection area (4) to the first and second compartment [2, 3) and to outlet means (9, 10) of the cartridge.

A portion capsule for producing a beverage. The portion capsule includes a capsule body that has a collar edge and a capsule bottom; a filter element located inside of the capsule body, the filter element is elastic, the filter element has a flange that is attached to the collar edge of the capsule body, the filter element has a bottom; and a cover attached to the capsule body. The bottom of the filter element is spaced apart from the capsule bottom such that a free space remains between the filter element and the capsule bottom. The filter element is spaced apart from the capsule bottom in such a manner that only before a liquid is applied to a beverage substrate, does the filter element not touch the capsule bottom.

A beverage preparation capsule containing a beverage preparation ingredient, having a body with side walls formed from one or more substantially air- and liquid-impermeable sheet materials defining a chamber containing a beverage preparation ingredient and further defining an outlet channel having an upstream end in fluid communication with the chamber for escape of beverage from the chamber. At least a region of the outlet channel is filled by a filtration material for filtering the beverage escaping from the chamber. Also provided is a clamp assembly for preparing a beverage from such a capsule, the clamp assembly comprising two or more clamp members, wherein an inner wall of at least one of the clamp members comprises a concave base surface for receiving the capsule and one or more pressure pads projecting from the concave base surface for selectively constricting a region of the capsule.

A capsule for preparing a predetermined quantity of beverage with a beverage brewing device is disclosed. The beverage brewing device comprises a receptacle for receiving the capsule. The capsule comprises a cup comprising a circumferential wall, a bottom closing the circumferential wall at a first end, and a lid in use connected to the cup at a second end of the circumferential wall opposite the bottom. The wall, bottom and lid, in use, enclose an inner space comprising the extractable product. At least a portion of a surface of the capsule conceived to, in use, interact with the receptacle is provided with at least one projection for forming a sealing engagement with the receptacle.

A beverage system having a pod and a brewer, the brewer including a closure movable between an open position and a closed position. A chamber included in the closure that is defined by a set of walls including a pair of sidewalls. The pod includes a holder and a wrapper fully enclosing the holder. An exterior of the pod is defined by the wrapper and when the pod is received in the brewer the exterior is punctured.

The invention relates to a system for preparing a beverage from a capsule using a fluid supplied under pressure into the capsule comprising a beverage preparation device having an enclosing member with an annular element having a free contact end and a capsule containing a substance for the preparation of a beverage. The capsule comprises a sealing member having the shape of a step. i.e. a sudden increase of the diameter of a side wall of the capsule. The sealing member comprises a floor portion extending over an engagement distance and a side wall portion extending in a direction away from the floor portion. The engagement distance of the floor portion is such that the floor portion engages the free contact end of the annular element over its breadth if the capsule is positioned in the enclosing member of the beverage preparation device and the enclosing member is moved relative towards a capsule holder of the beverage preparation device. The floor portion is arranged to be plastically drawn over the free contact end of the annular element if the enclosing member of the beverage preparation device is closed by means of the capsule holder of the beverage preparation device. The invention also relates to a capsule for use in such a system.
