Rotatable declotting apparatus and method
The present disclosure provides a method, system, and apparatus that adds rotational functionality to a conventional clot maceration device. The rotational functionality can be imparted by a wide variety of mechanical devices, such as by a hand operated rack and pinion type gear system or an electrically driven motor. An outer member (such as a catheter) of a declotting apparatus may be rotated while an inner member remains substantially fixed in position. The degree of rotation of the inner member may be between 60 and 180 degrees in a clockwise and counterclockwise rotation. In one embodiment, the rotating mechanism is coupled to a sliding and/or lateral mechanism to impart both lateral and rotational movement to the declotting apparatus. The deformable members of a basket or jacket of the declotting apparatus may form a helical structure and/or each comprise a bundled wire.
Surgical instrument including an adapter assembly and an articulating surgical loading unit
An adapter assembly includes a cam housing defining a proximal cam slot and a distal cam slot, a first elongate shaft, and a second elongate shaft. The first elongate shaft has a proximal end portion received in the proximal cam slot, and a distal end portion configured to be coupled to a surgical loading unit. The second elongate shaft has a proximal end portion received in the distal cam slot, and a distal end portion configured to be coupled to the surgical loading unit. The first and second elongate shafts are configured to move in opposing longitudinal directions in response to a rotation of the cam housing to articulate the surgical loading unit.
ACTUATOR FOR RELEASING A TISSUE THICKNESS COMPENSATOR FROM A FASTENER CARTRIDGE
A fastener cartridge assembly for use with a surgical end effector. The fastener cartridge assembly can comprise a cartridge body having fastener cavities, fasteners removably positioned in the fastener cavities, a layer of material releasably secured relative to the cartridge body, a connector configured to secure the layer of material to the cartridge body at a location distal to at least one fastener cavity, and an actuator. The layer of material can be a tissue thickness compensator. When actuated, the actuator can overcome the connector, and can overcome the connector prior to the removal of the fasteners from the fastener cavities. The actuator can be actuated at a location proximal to at least one fastener cavity, and can extend distally past at least one fastener cavity toward the connector.
Articulation mechanism for surgical stapling device
A surgical device includes an adapter assembly and a tool assembly that is coupled to the adapter assembly by a pivot member to facilitate articulation of the tool assembly in relation to the adapter assembly. The adapter assembly supports a drive assembly for actuating or firing the tool assembly. The adapter assembly includes an articulation mechanism that adjusts the position of the tool assembly in relation to the drive assembly to compensate for changes in stroke length of the drive assembly that result from articulation of the tool assembly.
Manual release assembly for robotic surgical tool
A manual release assembly for a surgical tool includes a first release plate including a first pair of arms engageable with a first pair release gears arranged within a drive housing, a second release plate including a second pair of arms engageable with a second pair release gears arranged within the dive housing, and a first angled slot defined in the first release plate and a second angled slot defined in the second release plate. A release switch provides a transition pin extendable into the angled slots and manually movable between disengaged and engaged positions. When in the disengaged position, the arms are disengaged from the release gears, and when manually moved to the engaged position, the transition pin moves through the angled slots and urges the release plates in opposing lateral directions such that the arms engage and rotate the release gears.

A treatment tool for an endoscope includes an operating part and a transmitting part that transmits an operation of the operating part to a grip part of a distal end part and a bendable part. The operating part has an operating member that is movable in a first direction and a second direction orthogonal to the first direction. The transmitting part has a first transmitting member that is moved to an operating part side based on an operation of the operating member in the first direction and closes the grip part and a second transmitting member that is moved to the operating part side based on an operation of the operating member in the second direction and bends the bendable part.

A surgical tool can include a handle, an outer tube, an end effector, an inner tube, and a guide tube. The outer tube can be connected to the handle and can extend along a longitudinal axis. The end effector can be connected to the outer tube. The inner shaft can be located within the outer tube and can extend along the longitudinal axis. The inner shaft can be connected to the end effector and the outer shaft. The handle can be operable to translate the inner shaft with respect to the outer tube to operate the end effector. The guide tube can be located within the outer tube between the handle and the end effector. The guide tube can include a conduit extending therethrough.

A surgical instrument is disclosed. The surgical instrument includes a shaft, a sensing array and a fluid detection circuit. The sensing array is positioned within the shaft. The fluid detection circuit is electrically coupled to the sensing array, and is configured to determine when a fluid originating from an environment external to the shaft is present within the shaft.

An apparatus includes a body assembly, a shaft defining a longitudinal axis extending from the body assembly, an acoustic waveguide having a flexible portion, and an articulation section coupled with the shaft. A portion of the articulation section encompasses the flexible portion of the waveguide. The articulation section has a first member and a second member translatable relative to the first member. An end effector has an ultrasonic blade that is in communication with the waveguide. An articulating control assembly has a motor. The motor is operable to translate the first and second members to thereby deflect the end effector away from the longitudinal axis at the articulation section.

A surgical instrument includes a shaft assembly and an articulation control assembly. The shaft assembly includes an articulation section that is configured to deflect a distal end portion from the longitudinal axis. The articulation control assembly includes an articulation control member and a transmission assembly. The articulation control member is rotatably mounted relative to the shaft assembly. The transmission assembly is operatively connected between the articulation control member and the articulation section of the shaft assembly. The transmission assembly is configured to transmit selective manipulation of the articulation control member to the articulation section and selectively actuate the articulation section. The articulation control assembly is configured to lock without selective manipulation of the articulation control member to thereby inhibit actuation of the articulation section and unlock with selective manipulation of the articulation control member to thereby actuate the articulation section.
