Sterile medical instrument charging device
A system includes a medical device and a charging device. A sterile barrier may be interposed between the medical device and the charging device. The medical device includes an integral power source and an active element. The charging device is configured to charge the integral power source. The charging device may charge the integral power source through direct contact between features of the charging device and features the medical device. The charging device may alternatively charge the integral power source wirelessly, such as through inductive coupling. The medical device may include conductive prongs that are retained by the charging device. The charging device may physically couple with the medical device via magnets. The medical device and the charging device may be provided together in a sterile package as a kit. The kit may also include a reclamation bag to facilitate reclamation of electrical components.
ENDOSCOPIC INSTRUMENT
An endoscopic instrument is provided and includes a housing including an elongated shaft assembly extending distally therefrom. The elongated shaft assembly includes inner and outer shaft members. The inner and outer shaft members are removably coupled to the housing and the outer shaft member is movable with respect to the inner shaft member. An end effector is operably supported at the distal end of the outer shaft member and includes a pair of jaw members configured for treating tissue. A bushing operably couples to the inner and outer shaft members of the shaft assembly and selectively and releasably couples to the housing. The bushing includes one or more mechanical interfaces configured to engage one or more slots defined through the inner shaft member and one or more slots defined through the outer shaft member to release the inner and outer shaft members from the housing.
Surgical tool with reduced actuation force
A surgical tool including a housing having a proximal end and a distal end the housing including a guide rail. The tool also includes a yoke slidably coupled to the housing, a handle pivotally coupled to the housing, and a link coupling the handle to the housing, the link having a first end and a second end, the first end of the link rotatably coupled to the handle and the second end of the link rotatably coupled to the yoke and slidable within the guide rail. The tool further includes a yoke pivot pin pivotably coupling the second end of the link to the yoke and a handle pivot pin coupling the link to the handle, wherein the handle pivot pin is disposed proximal compared to the yoke pivot pin.
ACTUATION LOCKOUT FOR A SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
Embodiments of a surgical instrument including an actuation lockout system as well as its method of use are disclosed. In one embodiment, a surgical instrument includes a trigger and a driveshaft coupled to the trigger such that actuation of the trigger causes the driveshaft to move from a first position to a second position, thereby resulting in deployment of a surgical fastener. An actuation lockout system restrains distal movement of the driveshaft until a force greater than or equal to a threshold force is applied to the trigger.
Handheld electromechanical surgical system
A surgical device includes a handle assembly, an adapter assembly configured to selectively couple to the handle assembly, an annular reload configured to selectively couple to a distal portion of the adapter assembly, and a shipping cap coupled to the annular reload and configured to detach from the annular reload in response to a movement of a trocar of the adapter assembly. The annular reload has a memory having stored therein information about the reload. The handle assembly includes a controller configured to encode to the memory an occurrence of a detachment of the shipping cap from the reload.
Laparoscopic clipping machine for application of surgical clips on tissue structures
A laparoscopic clipping machine that is used to apply clips on tissue structures is enclosed in a housing and includes a pair of movable jaws mounted on a stem. Operational movement for clamping the clips is indirectly triggered by a movement of the handle. The clipping machine further includes at least one spring and a mechanism directly triggering the operational movement of the jaws having at least one pusher movably arranged in the axis of the stem supported in the axis of the stem on the spring. An adjustment mechanism adjusts the jaws output opening to at least two different positions adapted to at least two sizes of the clips, resulting in a different output angle between the jaws, wherein the adjustment mechanism includes a movable shutter element having at least two parts, the narrower part of the shutter element and the wider part of the shutter element.
Treatment tool
A treatment tool includes an long member; a treatment portion rotatable about a longitudinal axis of the long member; a twisting wire one end of which is connected to the treatment portion, the other end extending toward a proximal end side of the long member; an operating portion, at the proximal end side, that includes a body fixed to the long member, and an operating member configured to rotate around and move along the axis; and a mechanism configured to couple the operating member with the wire and convert a rotation of the operating member into traction of the wire. The body includes a portion configured to come into contact with the operating member to prevent the rotation in a case where the operating member is urged in a direction toward a distal end side of the long member together with the mechanism by a restoring force of the wire.
Endoscopic surgical clip applier and handle assemblies for use therewith
A handle assembly for use with a surgical instrument is provided and includes a housing, a movable handle, a plunger, and a linkage. The movable handle is pivotably mounted to the housing. The plunger is disposed at least partially within the housing. Distal translation of the plunger relative to the housing is configured to affect a function of the surgical instrument.
