CUTTING DEVICE, FORCEPS AND GRIPPING/CUTTING METHOD
20220175410 · 2022-06-09 ·

A cutting device including a first contact member and at second contact member assembled so as to be openable and closable, a contact mechanism that rotates the first contact member toward the second contact member to bring the first contact member and the second contact member into contact with a target portion, and a cutting mechanism for cutting the target portion in a state where the first contact member and the second contact member are in contact with the target portion by the contact mechanism.

Surgical tool assemblies with closure stroke reduction features

A surgical tool assembly that includes a surgical end effector that has first and second jaws that are movable between a fully open position and a fully closed position relative to each other. A proximal closure member is configured to move through a first closure stroke distance upon application of a closure input motion thereto. A closure reduction linkage operably interfaces with the proximal closure member and a distal closure member such that when the proximal closure member moves through the first closure stroke distance, the closure reduction linkage causes the distal closure member to axially move through a second closure stroke distance that is less than the first closure stroke distance.

Percutaneous tissue anchor techniques

An example anchor-manipulation tool includes (i) at a distal portion of the tool, an anchor-engaging element and an actuator, (ii) at an extracorporeal proximal portion of the tool, a controller, and (iii) a flexible longitudinal member extending between the proximal portion and the distal portion. The distal portion of the tool can be transluminally advanced to an anchor that is intracorporeally implanted in a subject. Subsequently, the anchor-engaging element can be engaged with an eyelet defined by a head of the anchor. Subsequently, the controller can be used to transition the tool into an articulatably-coupled state in which: (i) the eyelet at least in part inhibits movement of the anchor-engaging element away from the anchor, and (ii) the distal portion of the anchor-manipulation tool is deflectable with respect to the anchor. Subsequently, the anchor can be de-anchored by using the anchor-manipulation tool to apply a de-anchoring force to the eyelet.

SURGICAL INSTRUMENT INCLUDING A FLEXIBLE SUPPORT CONFIGURED TO SUPPORT A FLEXIBLE FIRING MEMBER
20230270437 · 2023-08-31 ·

A surgical instrument that includes an elongate channel that is configured to operably support a surgical staple cartridge therein. In at least one form, an anvil is pivotally coupled to a proximal end of the elongate channel such that the anvil is pivotal about a discrete, non-movable anvil axis defined by the elongate channel. A firing member is configured for axial travel within the elongate channel in response to an application of firing motions thereto. The firing member is configured to movably engage the anvil and the elongate channel to space the anvil relative to the elongate channel at a desired spacing as the firing member is axially driven through the elongate channel. A closure member is configured to move the anvil from an open position to closed positions relative to the elongate channel upon application of closure motions to the closure member.

LONG STAPLER RELOADS WITH CONTINUOUS CARTRIDGE

An end effector for a surgical stapling apparatus includes a cartridge assembly and an anvil assembly. The cartridge assembly includes a cartridge channel supporting a reload. The reload includes a plurality of separate and distinct cartridge units that removably interconnect with one another within the cartridge channel. The cartridge assembly can include a cartridge channel that supports the reload and a hinge assembly that pivotally couples to the cartridge channel.

Surgical instrument with increased actuation force
11337716 · 2022-05-24 · ·

A surgical instrument with improved end-effector gripping force. The instrument comprises a shaft, which may be inserted into a body of a patient. The articulated end-effector is mounted on the distal extremity of the instrument shaft and comprises a plurality of links interconnected by a plurality of joints, whose movements are remotely actuated by the surgeon's hands. This remote actuation is accomplished through mechanical transmission, mainly along flexible elements, which are able to deliver motion from a set of actuation elements, placed at a proximal extremity of the shaft, to the instrument's articulated end-effector. The articulated end-effector further comprises one or more cam-and-follower mechanisms that are able to amplify the force transmitted by the flexible elements so that the actuation force at the instrument jaws is maximized and the tension on the transmission elements minimized, thus increasing the fatigue resistance and life of the instrument.

Manual release assembly for robotic surgical tool
11737846 · 2023-08-29 · ·

A manual release assembly for a surgical tool includes a first release plate including a first pair of arms engageable with a first pair release gears arranged within a drive housing, a second release plate including a second pair of arms engageable with a second pair release gears arranged within the dive housing, and a first angled slot defined in the first release plate and a second angled slot defined in the second release plate. A release switch provides a transition pin extendable into the angled slots and manually movable between disengaged and engaged positions. When in the disengaged position, the arms are disengaged from the release gears, and when manually moved to the engaged position, the transition pin moves through the angled slots and urges the release plates in opposing lateral directions such that the arms engage and rotate the release gears.

SURGICAL FORCEPS

A working portion, a support portion, a bending portion, a linear portion and an operating portion connected with one another in this sequence. The operating portion includes a working operation portion configured to operate the working portion and a bending operation portion configured to operate bending of the bending portion. A single rod-like super-elastic wire that is made of a metal material having super-elasticity and that has a diameter of not larger than 0.5 mm is used as a working wire having one end mounted to the working portion and the other end mounted to the working operation portion. The super-elastic wires are also used as there or more bending wires having respective one ends mounted to the support portion and respective other ends mounted to the bending operation portion.

TREATMENT TOOL FOR ENDOSCOPE

A treatment tool for an endoscope includes an operating part and a transmitting part that transmits an operation of the operating part to a grip part of a distal end part and a bendable part. The operating part has an operating member that is movable in a first direction and a second direction orthogonal to the first direction. The transmitting part has a first transmitting member that is moved to an operating part side based on an operation of the operating member in the first direction and closes the grip part and a second transmitting member that is moved to the operating part side based on an operation of the operating member in the second direction and bends the bendable part.
