Surgical forceps and methods of use
Provided herein are systems, methods and apparatuses for surgical forceps for an easier and safer retrieval of foreign bodies in passages for better quality of care for patients.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT COMPRISING A RAPID CLOSURE MECHANISM
A surgical instrument comprising a first jaw, a second jaw rotatable relative to the first jaw, and a closure system for closing the second jaw is disclosed. The closure system comprises a multi-stage closure system. In at least one instance, the closure system comprises a first closure member which closes the second jaw quickly, but with low force, and a second closure member which closes the second jaw more slowly, but with a higher force.
Surgical instrument configured to operate in different states
A surgical instrument comprising a firing system configured to perform one or more staple firing strokes, a power system, and a control system is disclosed. The firing system comprises a cutting member and an electric motor configured to drive the cutting member through each staple firing stroke and retract the cutting member after each staple firing stroke. The control system comprises a powered operating state in which the power system has enough power to drive the cutting member through a staple firing stroke, a limited-power operating state for placing the surgical instrument in a default condition that has sufficient functionality to retract the cutting member, a firing system lockout configured to prevent the firing system from performing a staple firing stroke when the control system is in the limited-power operating state, and a display configured to indicate that the surgical instrument is in the limited-power operating state.
Apparatus for performing an electrosurgical procedure
An endoscopic forceps is provided and includes a housing having a shaft that extends therefrom. An end effector assembly is operatively connected to a distal end of the shaft and includes a pair of pivotably coupled first and second jaw members. The jaw members are movable relative to one another. A drive mechanism includes a driving structure. A link assembly includes two or more links that are operably coupled to each other and the drive structure. The two or more links are operably coupled to respective ones of the first and second jaw members.
Powered surgical instrument
A powered surgical stapler comprising a handle including an electric motor configured to output rotary motions, a shaft extending from the handle, an end effector extending from the shaft, a staple cartridge including a plurality of staples, and a firing member operably responsive to the rotary motions is disclosed. The end effector comprises a first jaw and a second jaw movable relative to the first jaw between an open position and a closed position. The firing member is configured to move the second jaw into the closed position. The firing member is further configured to move distally within the end effector at a first rate to eject the plurality of staples from the staple cartridge. The firing member is further configured to move proximally within the end effector at a second rate that is different from the first rate.
END EFFECTOR DETENTION SYSTEMS FOR SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS
A surgical instrument system can comprise a surgical instrument, a first end effector, and a second end effector, wherein the end effectors are attachable to the surgical instrument. The first end effector can comprise a first set of stored data pertaining to the first end effector, wherein the surgical instrument is configured to ascertain the first set of data and enter a first operating state. The second end effector can comprise a second set of stored data pertaining to the second end effector, wherein the surgical instrument is configured to ascertain the second set of data and enter a second operating state. The surgical instrument is further configured to enter a default operating state if said surgical instrument is unable to ascertain a set of stored data from an end effector.
SURGICAL TOOLS WITH OCCLUDED BLADE
Surgical tools that are capable of both manipulating a needle and cutting surgical thread during a suturing operation can sometimes be problematic due to inadvertent severing of the surgical thread. Surgical tools capable of exposing a bladed cutting surface only when severing of surgical thread is desired can substantially alleviate this issue. Such surgical tools may comprise an end effector comprising an end effector axle, a first jaw and a second jaw rotatably mounted to the end effector axle, and a first cutting body having a first blade and second cutting body having a second blade. The first cutting body is configured to move in tandem with the first jaw and the second cutting body is configured to move in tandem with the second jaw, such that the first and second blades are occluded when the first and second jaws are closed or partially opened.
Secondary battery arrangements for powered surgical instruments
A power system, for powering a surgical instrument including an end effector and a motor configured to generate at least one motion to effectuate the end effector, includes a primary power source configured to supply a first power to operate the surgical instrument, wherein the primary power source is detachable from the surgical instrument, a secondary power source configured to supply a second power to operate the surgical instrument when the primary power source is detached from the surgical instrument, wherein the secondary power source is rechargeable, and wherein the primary power source is configured to charge the secondary power system, and a power management circuit configured to selectively transmit the first power from the primary power source and the secondary power from the secondary power source to operate the surgical instrument.
METHOD OF HUB COMMUNICATION WITH SURGICAL INSTRUMENT SYSTEMS
A method for adjusting the operation of a clip applier using machine learning in a surgical suite is disclosed. The method comprises gathering data during surgical procedures, wherein the surgical procedures include the use of a clip applier comprising a crimping drive configured to be mechanically advanced through a crimping stroke. The method further comprises analyzing the gathered data to determine an appropriate operational adjustment of the clip applier and adjusting the operation of the clip applier to improve the operation of the clip applier.
Mechanical end effector
A mechanical end effector comprising at least two movable parts, wherein each of the movable parts is mounted on at least two supports, wherein a relative position of the movable parts with respect to each other is variable by changing the relative position of the supports with respect to each other, and wherein the supports of the movable parts comprise bendable members, wherein the bendable members are equipped with mechanical properties that arrange for flexing of the bendable members when a force applied by the supports of the movable parts exceeds a predefined value and the bendable members are embodied as cooperating bands to arrange that flexing of the cooperating bands provides a visual feedback to a user.
