A locking-cap module may include a locking-cap having a first connecting flange and a second connecting flange opposite the first connecting flange extending from a side surface of the locking-cap. The locking-cap may further include a first retaining rail and a second retaining rail opposite the first retaining rail. The locking-cap module may further include a set screw configured to engage with corresponding threads of the locking-cap. In some embodiments, the first connecting flange and second connecting flange are configured to engage with a connector such that the top surface of the locking-cap is generally flush with a top surface of the connector when the locking-cap is in a locked position relative to the connector. In some embodiments, the set screw is initially coupled to the locking-cap by a pre-loaded connection. In some embodiments, an end user may visually verify that the locking-cap module is in the locked position.

BONE ANCHOR

An anchor assembly can be couplable to a bone and can include an anchor and a housing. The anchor can include a shank securable to bone and a head coupled to a proximal portion of the shank.

POLYAXIAL SCREW AND LOCKING CAP

Systems, methods, and devices for securing a spinal rod are provided. A clamp assembly comprises a tulip comprising an opening comprising an inner surface, wherein the inner surface is threaded; and a threaded locking cap disposed in the opening, wherein threads of the locking cap and the inner surface include various geometries.

POLYAXIAL BONE ANCHORING DEVICE

A polyaxial bone anchoring device includes a receiving part with a rod receiving portion defining a recess for receiving a rod, and a head receiving portion with a wall that defines an accommodation space for accommodating a head of an anchoring element, and a locking member positionable at least partially around the head receiving portion and movable from a first position where the head can pivot in the accommodation space to a second position where an angular position of the head is locked. The wall of the head receiving portion further defines at least one cavity in communication with the accommodation space that reduces a radial thickness of at least part of the wall located between the accommodation space and the locking member, and at least part of the cavity is separated radially from the accommodation space by a portion of the wall.

The present invention provides for a joint fixation device and method utilizing a bone screw having a bi-directional drill point that is constructed and arranged to cut and form a hole in a bone when the screw is rotated or oscillated in both directions around the longitudinal axis of the screw. The screw can then be rotated into a final position by rotation in a single direction; and removed by rotating the screw in an opposite direction.

BONE ANCHOR ASSEMBLY HAVING A TOOL DEPLOYABLE INSERT IN COMPRESSIVE OVERLAPPING ENGAGEMENT WITH A RETAINER

A bone anchor assembly includes a shank having a head and an anchor portion, and a receiver having a first channel to receive a rod and an axial bore with an upper internal thread, interference abutment surfaces below the upper internal thread, and a bottom opening. The assembly also includes an insert having a second channel to receive the rod and opposed lateral protrusions positioned above the interference abutment surfaces upon loading into a first position within the axial bore. The assembly further includes a resiliently expandable retainer positionable within the axial bore adjacent the bottom opening to capture and hold the head in the receiver. After the head is uploaded into the axial bore, the insert is downwardly deployable by tooling into a second position with the opposite lateral protrusions being forced below the interference abutment surfaces and with lower portions of the insert entering into compressive overlapping engagement with the retainer to hold down the retainer within the axial bore.

Coupling assembly for coupling a rod to a bone anchoring element, and polyaxial bone anchoring device

A coupling assembly for coupling a rod to a bone anchoring element includes a receiving part having a first end, a second end, a recess having a bottom for receiving the rod, and an accommodation space having an opening at the second end of the receiving part for accommodating a head of the bone anchoring element, and a retainer element configured to be inserted into the receiving part from the first end and to hold at least part of the head, the retainer element having a first portion and a spring portion compressible in an axial direction attached to the first portion. When the retainer element is in the accommodation space in a first position, the spring portion extends in the axial direction from the first portion of the retainer element to an axial position between the first end of the receiving part and the bottom of the recess.

METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR GUIDED SPINAL GROWTH

Various methods and apparatus for dynamic stabilization of bones, and especially of vertebra. Disclosed herein are bushings that permit axial movement of a rod, tether, or similar interconnection device relative to an anchoring head that is coupled to a bone. Some bushings further allow lateral relative movement or rotational relative movement, such additional relative movement being limited by the size and shape of the bushing, the size and shape of the interconnection device, the size and shape of the bushing container, the manner of attaching the anchoring head to the bone, or other considerations.
