The proximal end may also include one or more openings configured to receive one or more bone anchors that extend transversely through the proximal end of the intramedullary nail, and thereby configured to secure the proximal end of the nail. In some embodiments, the proximal opening may contain one or more relief cuts.
BONE-FIXATION DEVICE AND SYSTEM
The current invention features a rod screw for medical application that can be configured and used to fixate fracture of bones varying in shape and dimension, and treating maladies such as scoliosis, and securing an implanted device, to tissue such as bone. This is achieved by designing a flexible rod screw with a mechanism to lock the configuration in a rigid state. In an embodiment, a bone-fracture fixation device, such as a rod screw, includes a flexible body, a plurality of flexible members, and first and second interfaces. The flexible members are disposed longitudinally within the flexible body, such that the flexible body is rigid when the flexible members are fixed into position. And the first and second interfaces are respectively coupled to the flexible body, each of at least one of the first and second interfaces including a respective at least one hole each configured to receive a respective attachment member configured to engage a bone.
SURGICAL DEVICES FOR SMALL BONE FRACTURE SURGERY
Small bone surgical nail devices and methods for use m small hone fracture surgeries, for example, clavicle fracture surgery. The systems and methods can include a nail device with specific design features including, but not limited to differing designs, geometries, and configurations in multiple zones of the device, an associated optional end cap, and/or optional locking screws.
A FEMORAL NAIL AND INSTRUMENTATION SYSTEM
An instrumentation system (100) and an intramedullary femoral nail system (1) for antegrade or retrograde implantation with laterally inserted bone screws, the system comprising a nail stem (2) having a multi-featured proximal end (3), a distal end and a central conduit (22) configured to accommodate a fastener (4), wherein the multi-featured proximal end (3) comprises a plurality of holes (20) configured to accommodate at least two bone screws (50, 52), wherein the first bone screw (50) is at an angle that is horizontal relative to the central conduit (22) and is on a coronal plane, and the second bone screw (52) is at an angle of between 120° to 130° relative to the central conduit (22).
Modular spinal fixation device
A spinal fixation device is provided including a modular head assembly and a bone screw. The modular head assembly includes a housing, an anvil, an insert, and a snap ring. The housing defines a proximal surface and an opposite, distal surface, and the proximal and distal surfaces define a throughbore therethrough. The anvil is configured to be slidably received within a portion of the throughbore. The insert defines a proximal surface and an opposite, distal surface, and the distal surface defines a first counterbore therein that terminates at a first annular surface. The first annular surface defines a second counterbore that terminates at a second annular surface. The snap ring is configured to be disposed within the first counterbore of the insert when in a first configuration, and within the second counterbore of the insert when in a second configuration.
Platform fracture fixation implants
A proximal portion of an implant for repairing a multipart fracture of a proximal humerus includes an asymmetric body having a proximal end, a distal end, a medial side, a lateral side, an anterior edge, and a posterior edge a medial surface extending along at least a portion of the medial side and having a proximal end and a distal end; a protrusion forming the lateral side of the asymmetric body, offset in an anterior direction, and pointing toward a bicipital groove of the humerus when the proximal portion is implanted in the humerus, an anterior support surface configured to support a lesser tuberosity; a posterior support surface configured to support a greater tuberosity; an angled surface having a first side defined by the medial surface, a second side defined by the anterior support surface, and a third side defined by the posterior support surface; and an anchoring point.
ORTHOPEDIC NAIL SYSTEM
Embodiments are directed to an orthopedic nail that includes a shaft extending from a first end to a second end and defining one or more openings positioned proximate to the first end. Each opening can accept an orthopedic screw. The shaft can also define a first retention feature positioned proximate to the second end. The orthopedic nail can include a collar that couples to the shaft and defines one or more openings each configured to accept an orthopedic screw. The collar can define a second retention feature that engages with the first retention feature, where the first and second retention features allow the collar to be rotated with respect to the shaft and prevent the collar from decoupling from the shaft. The orthopedic nail can include a lock coupled to the collar and configured to engage with the shaft to prevent rotation of the collar with respect to the shaft.
Intramedullary nail assembly
An intramedullary nail assembly includes a body and an inlay. The body has an outer surface and an opposing inner surface. The outer surface extends from a leading end of the body to a trailing end of the body. The inner surface defines a cannulation that extends into the trailing end towards the leading end. The body comprises a leading body portion that defines the leading end, and a trailing body portion that defines the trailing end. The inlay is positionable within the cannulation of at least one of the leading body portion and the trailing body portion. The inlay includes an engagement member configured to engage the body to removably lock the inlay within the cannulation of the body.
FLEXIBLE INTRAMEDULLARY NAIL
A surgical nail, such as an intramedullary nail, includes a nail body that includes a proximal end, an elongate intermediate portion comprising an intermediate flexible portion; and a distal end. The proximal end and the distal end are coupled and offset from one another by the elongate intermediate portion. The wherein the intermediate flexible portion comprises at least two cables boned one to another and configured to maintain a fixed length. The at least one cable comprises two or more cables twisted around one another in a helical arrangement and welded together. The proximal portion and the threaded end portion can be coupled together by the intermediate flexible portion as a unitary, integrated element prior to any use of the surgical nail in an implant procedure. The intermediate flexible portion is configured to permit the proximal portion to bend at an angle relative to the distal portion as a unitary, integrated element.
