Structure having variable diameter
The present invention relates to a structure having a variable diameter, the structure including: a bolt which extends in a longitudinal direction; a body which is disposed at one side of the bolt so as to surround the bolt; a core which is disposed in the longitudinal direction of the bolt; a plurality of extensions which is radially disposed outside the core; and a plurality of outer shells which surrounds the extensions so as to correspond to the extensions, in which the extensions are expanded outward or contracted in a direction toward a center thereof by the core in accordance with a rotation direction of the bolt, such that a diameter of an outer circumferential surface of the extensions is changed.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR BONE ADJUSTMENT WITH ANCHORING FUNCTION
A device for bone adjustment in a mammal. The device comprising two or more anchoring devices adapted to implanted intramedullary and attached to a bone in said mammal and an adjustment device for exerting force on said anchoring devices, said adjustment device being adapted to postoperatively adjust at least one of the distance between or orientation of, at least two of said anchoring devices. The operation device further comprises a motor and said operation device is adapted to operate said adjustment device. The operation device further comprises a gearbox connected to the motor, wherein an outgoing speed from the gear box is lower than the speed by the motor alone, accomplished by the gearbox, and wherein the outgoing speed of the gearbox is less than 10 turn per second during normal operation. The device also comprises a control device adapted to control the operation device, wherein the control device is: programmed to control the device according to a pre-programmed time-schedule, and programmed to control the device based on input from a sensor or measuring device sensing any possible physical parameter of the patient or any functional parameter of the system.
DISTAL INTERPHALANGEAL FUSION METHOD AND DEVICE
The various embodiments of the present invention provide a system, including methods, apparatus and kits for connecting bones and/or bone portions using a multi-part bone connector with one or more rotating joints.
Stent
A stent is disclosed that has an elongated body having a proximal end, a distal end, at least one open spiral channel formed on the exterior surface of the body to provide fluid communication between the proximal end and the distal end. The stent also has a central lumen open at the proximal and distal ends of the stent for the passage of a guide wire. A method for using the stent and a kit containing the stent are also disclosed.
Expandable intramedullary systems and methods of using the same
Intramedullary systems, expandable intramedullary nails, expandable anchors, and methods of using the same. The intramedullary system may include an expandable intramedullary nail configured to extend into an intramedullary canal of a long bone and/or one or more expandable anchors configured to extend at an angle transverse to the intramedullary nail. The intramedullary nails and/or anchors may include one or more integrated expansion mechanisms that allow for insertion in a contracted configuration and expansion into a deployed configuration to lock the relative position and prevent axial rotation and translation of the system.
DEVICE FOR OSTEOSYNTHESES OR ARTHRODESIS OF TWO-BONE PARTS, IN PARTICULAR OF THE HAND AND / OR FOOT
In one embodiment, the present disclosure is a fixation device including a median zone, a first fixation zone including a base region extending from the median zone and an end region distant from the median zone, and including an expandable region in between the base region and the end region, the expandable region adapted to move between a closed position and an expanded position, wherein the first fixation zone is adapted to be positioned within a bone hole and, with the expandable region in the expanded position, the expandable region is positioned against bone surrounding the bone hole, and a second fixation zone including a base region extending from the median zone at a position different from the base region of the first fixation zone and an end region distant from the median zone.
ORTHOPEDIC FASTENER DEVICE
Orthopedic fastener devices for fixation of fractured bones are disclosed. The orthopedic fastener device is in the form of an orthopedic fastener having an IM nail coated on its external surface with a bioabsorbable or biodegradable hydrogel. Also disclosed are hydrogel coated orthopedic fastener devices in the form of a K-wire or bone screw, a method for stabilizing a fractured long bone fracture by inserting an orthopedic fastener into the medullary canal of the bone and a kit for fastener implantation.
DEVICE FOR PRODUCING AN ANCHORAGE IN HUMAN OR ANIMAL TISSUE
An anchorage in tissue is produced by holding a vibrating element and a counter element against each other such that their contact faces are in contact with each other, wherein at least one of the contact faces includes a thermoplastic material which is liquefiable by mechanical vibration. While holding and then moving the two elements against each other, the vibrating element is vibrated and due to the vibration the thermoplastic material is liquefied between the contact faces, and due to the relative movement is made to flow from between the contact faces and to penetrate tissue located adjacent to outer edges of the contact faces. For liquefaction of the thermoplastic material and for displacing it from between the contact faces, no force needs to act on the tissue surface which is to be penetrated by the liquefied material.
Intramedullary Implant And Method Of Use
A bone implant includes a proximal end, a distal end, a first portion extending between the proximal and distal ends having a maximum and minimum portion height, and a second portion extending between the proximal and distal ends having a maximum and minimum portion height. The second portion is connected to the first portion at the proximal end and the distal end and at least one of the first portion and the second portion is moveable relative to the other of the first portion and the second portion so as to transition the bone implant between a relaxed state wherein the first and second portions are separated by a first distance and a contracted state wherein the first and second portions are separated by a second distance different from the first distance. At least one of the proximal end and the distal end have the minimum portion height.
