A medical device for at least partially covering and applying force on tissue includes a body having a spanning structure and struts respectively connected to lateral portions of the spanning structure. Inner ends of the struts extend into an area over which the medial portion of the spanning structure extends. The medical device is reconfigurable between extended and retracted configurations. The inner ends of the struts are closer to one another in the retracted configuration than in the extended configuration. The inner ends of the struts are closer to the medial portion of the spanning structure in the retracted configuration than in the extended configuration. Each strut includes an engagement zone configured to engage and apply force on the tissue, at least while the medical device is in the retracted configuration. A web can be connected to the struts and span between the inner ends of the struts.

Surgical reduction tool assemblies may be used for achieving compression between bone fragments or across joints when performing arthrodesis procedures, bone fracture procedures, etc. The reduction tool assemblies may be used to reduce a gap between bone fragments or between bones of a joint prior to attempting to achieve final compression with a bone plate.

BONE IMPLANT WITH MEANS FOR MULTI DIRECTIONAL FORCE AND MEANS OF INSERTION

An assembly used in osteosynthesis comprising a delivery instrument in combination with an implant wherein the delivery instrument releasably holds the implant in a first configuration prior to attachment of the implant to bone. The delivery instrument allows the implant to be affixed to bone before the implant is released from the instrument. And the instrument may comprise guide means for drills, depth gauges, screws, pins, pegs, blades and or drivers which are used or implanted when the implant is releasably attached to the instrument. After the implant is affixed to bone and released from the delivery instrument, the implant assumes at least a second configuration which provides compression and or distraction and or control of spatial orientation.

A medial column bone plate, comprises a first portion which, when the plate is positioned along a medial column of a foot in a desired position, extends along a navicular, the first portion including at least two first variable angle holes extending therethrough, each of the first variable angle holes configured to receive a bone fixation element therethrough at a user-selected angle relative to a central axis thereof and a second portion extending distally from the first portion so that when the plate is in the desired position, the second portion extends along a medial cuneiform, the second portion including at least one second variable angle hole configured to receive a bone fixation element therein at a user-selected angle relative to a central axis thereof and a first compression slot extending therethrough in combination with a third portion extending distally from the second portion so that the third portion extends along a first metatarsal of the medial column in the desired position, the third portion including a third variable angle hole configured to receive a bone fixation element therein at a user-selected angle relative to a central axis thereof and a second compression slot extending therethrough.

A spinal distraction system, according to one aspect, includes an adjustable spinal distraction rod comprising first and second members, the adjustable spinal distraction rod configured for non-invasive elongation of the first and second members. The system includes an anchor rod configured for mounting to a bone of a subject, the anchor rod having one or more spring-biased tabs disposed at one end thereof, and a connector having first end and a second end, the first end having a receiving cup configured for detachable mounting on the anchor rod, wherein the one or more spring-biased tabs are configured to engage with an inner surface of the receiving cup, the connector having a second end operatively coupled to an end of a first member and wherein the second member is configured for mounting to a second bone of a subject.

The present invention discloses an alignment guide apparatus, system, and method. The alignment guide apparatus includes a body, a fixation insert, a guide pin, and a screw. The body may include an arm with a first end and a second end, an attachment portion at the first end, and an alignment portion at the second end. The fixation insert may be configured to pass through the attachment portion and the guide pin may be configured to pass through the alignment portion. The screw may be configured to engage the guide pin. The alignment system may include a bone plate, an alignment guide, a screw, at least one first fastener, and at least one second fastener. A method for moving a joint is also disclosed.

The first clamp arm and the second clamp arm temporarily become secured together with an unfixed pivot post. The unfixed pivot post is unfixed between the first detachable clamp arm and the second detachable clamp arm. The first clamp arm includes a first base portion including a first extender and a first tip portion secured together with a first unfixed joint. The first tip portion includes one or more first tip portion guide edges. The first detachable clamp arm includes a first ratcheted tooth member extending from detachable clamp arm, to attach with a second ratcheted tooth member extending from the second detachable clamp arm.

The body portion includes a first slotted portion extending at least partially through the body portion and a plurality of teeth adjacent the first slotted portion for engaging a driver in the first slotted portion. The body portion also includes a second slotted portion extending at least partially through the body portion and a ramped portion at least partially surrounding the second slotted portion. The ramped portion tapers from an outer surface of the body portion toward an inner surface of the body portion.
