DYNAMIC TENSIONING DEVICES FOR ORTHOPEDIC COMPRESSION
Constructs, devices, and methods for dynamically compressing tissue. An exemplary construct comprises a dynamic tensioning device configured to be implanted in a subject and defining a suture-coupling site. The dynamic tensioning device may be deformable superelastically from a resting state to a stretched state. A suture may be connected to the dynamic tensioning device at the suture-coupling site.
THREE DIMENSIONAL DISTRACTORS
A helical distractor, including: a distractor body having an open tubular shape including: a fixed footplate attached to a first end of the distractor body; first and second body edges; first and second key grooves in the first and second body edges, respectively; and an end cap at a second end of the distractor body; a movable foot including: body threads; a first key configured to engage the first key groove; a second key configured to engage the second key groove; and a movable footplate; an advancement screw with a threaded portion inside the distraction body, wherein the threaded portion is configured to engage the body threads of the movable foot, wherein the movable foot moves along the distractor body when the advancement screw is rotated, and wherein the distractor body is configured to cause the movable foot to rotate as it moves along the distractor body.
Compression force magnifier
A compression force magnifier comprising: an engaging surface for attaching to a bone plate; a ramped component above the engaging surface, the ramped component having a bottom surface adjacent the engaging surface and an angled upper surface; and a hole extending through the ramped component and the engaging surface.
Vertebral implant system and methods of use
A vertebral implant system is provided comprising a staple and a vertical member. In some embodiments, the vertical member is an adjustable member. In some embodiments, the adjustable member is configured to be adjusted by a small diameter tool or an electromagnetic mechanism. In some embodiments, the adjustable member is a strain inducer adjusted by a radio frequency receiver and transmitter. In some embodiments, the vertical member is a plate or a bracket. In some embodiments, the vertebral implant system is configured to be installed from an anterior, oblique, or lateral angle to the vertebral body. In some embodiments, a self adjusting screw plate alignment system is provided comprising a bone screw having threaded and tip portions, a plate with a through hole, a locking element and a securing element configured to frictionally anchor the tip portion of the bone screw in the plate through hole.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR A SMART, IMPLANTABLE CRANIO-MAXILLO-FACIAL DISTRACTOR
Systems and methods for improved cranio-maxillo-facial distraction are provided. The disclosed subject matter can include a distraction device adapted for subcutaneous implantation in a patient, and a handheld device operationally coupled to the distraction device. The distraction device can include a distraction element, adapted to attach to opposing bony fragments of a bone and perform distraction osteogenesis on the bone, and a rotatable magnetic element, coupled to the distraction element such that rotation of the magnetic element controls the distraction element. The handheld device can include a magnetic element, operationally coupled to and magnetically aligned with the magnetic element of the distraction device, such that rotation of the magnetic element of the handheld device causes corresponding rotation of the magnetic element of the distraction device. The disclosed subject matter also provides techniques for implanting a distraction device to opposing bony fragments of a bone and using such a device.
BONE FIXATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR FIXATING BONES
Bone fixation systems and methods include a surgical plate formed of a shape memory material, and an insertion tool for bending the plate. Receptacles are formed in the plate inwardly of an outer periphery. The plate further includes a body central portion located inwardly of the outer periphery, disposed between the first and second receptacles. The insertion tool includes first and second arms configured to engage the receptacles, and a rod disposed between the arms and configured to engage the body central portion. The rod is movable between a first rod position, in which the surgical plate has the initial shape, and a second rod position, in which the rod engages and displaces the plate body central portion so that the surgical plate has the flexed shape. In some embodiments, the insertion tool may be operated to modify a length of the surgical plate.
Implants and related methods for bunion correction
Implants, systems and related methods for correcting bunions are disclosed. The implants, systems and methods may include a first bone engaging implant configured to couple to a first bone, and a second bone engaging implant configured to couple to a second bone that is adjacent the first bone. The implants, systems and methods may further include a flexible cable member extending between the first and second implants that allows motion between the first and second implants but for movement of the first and second implants away from each other. The length of the cable member may draw the first bone towards the second bone and decrease an angle formed between therebetween. The cable member may be rigidly or slidably coupled to the first and second implants.
Bone fracture fixation clamp
A bone fixation clamp includes first and second clamp members, a stud, and a locking nut. The first member extends along a curve corresponding to an outer surface of a first portion of bone and includes an opening extending therethrough along an axis extending adjacent to the bone. The second member extends along a curve corresponding to an outer surface of a second portion of bone. The stud is receivable within the opening of the first member. The nut includes a threaded channel threadedly engaging a portion of the stud so that, when the first and second members are in the operative configuration, the nut is threadable over the stud to fix the first and second members over bone. The nut includes an anti-loosening feature which, when the nut is threaded over the stud, results in an interference with threading along the stud.
Alignment guide apparatus, methods and systems
The present invention discloses an alignment guide apparatus, system, and method. The alignment guide apparatus includes a body, a fixation insert, a guide pin, and a screw. The body may include an arm with a first end and a second end, an attachment portion at the first end, and an alignment portion at the second end. The fixation insert may be configured to pass through the attachment portion and the guide pin may be configured to pass through the alignment portion. The screw may be configured to engage the guide pin. The alignment system may include a bone plate, an alignment guide, a screw, at least one first fastener, and at least one second fastener. A method for moving a joint is also disclosed.
Band tensioning system
A band tensioner includes a shank, a head, and a tensioning mechanism disposed within the head. The shank is configured to secure the band tensioner to a first bony element and the head is secured to an end of the shank. The tensioning mechanism is configured to lengthen and shorten a flexible implant relative to the head of the band tensioner.
