Rib plate and rib plate system
A monolithic rib plate is described. The rib plate comprises multiple first screw orifices located substantially along a first line and connected by first bridges, multiple second screw orifices located laterally on one side of the first line and connected by second bridges, wherein one or more of the second bridges have a smaller cross-section than the first bridges, and third bridges, each connecting one of the second screw orifices with one of the first screw orifices. Also described is a rib plate system comprising the monolithic rib plate and at least one of one or more polyaxial locking screws, a tool for removing the second bridges, a tool for bending the monolithic rib plate, and one or more orifice bridge plates.
IMPLANT WITH INTRAMEDULLARY PORTION AND VARIABLE ANGLE EXTRAMEDULLARY PORTION
In one aspect, an implant configured to attach a first bone section to a second bone section comprises an intramedullary portion and an extramedullary portion. The intramedullary portion is configured for insertion into the first bone section. The ex-tramedullary portion is configured to abut a surface of the second bone section and includes a first fastener aperture configured to eceive a bone fastener inserted in the second bone section. The intramedullary portion and the extramedullary portion are coupled such that the extramedullary portion is rotatable with respect to the intramedullary portion.
Locking element for a polyaxial bone anchor, bone plate assembly and tool
A locking element is configured to be used with a polyaxial bone anchor. The locking element including a central axis, a bottom side, a top side opposite to the bottom side, and a peripheral surface portion that extending completely around the locking element that has an external thread. The bottom side defines a first recess facing toward the bottom side for accommodating and applying a force in a direction toward the bottom side to at least the portion of the head of the polyaxial bone anchor. The top side defines a second recess having a non-circular cross-section in a plane perpendicular to the central axis for torqueable engagement with a driver.
BONE FIXATION SYSTEM AND ELEMENTS THEREOF
A fixation system (900) for the fixation of a first bone fragment (932) relative to a second bone fragment (934); the fixation system (900) comprising at least one first bone engagement element engagable with the first bone fragment (932), wherein the first bone engagement element has an elongate body portion, a proximal end, a distal end, and a passageway extending through the body portion from the proximal end to the distal end, at least one further bone engagement element engageable with the second bone fragment (934) and having a tensile element (920) securement portion for affixing a tensile element (920) to the further bone engagement element; wherein the tensile element (920) passing the first bone engagement element when engaged with the first bone fragment (932) is fixed relative to the further bone engagement element when engaged with the second bone fragment (934) by the tensile element (920) securement portion; such that the first bone fragment (932) is affixed relative to the second bone fragment (934) from tensile stress in the tensile element (920).
Orthopedic Plate With Locking Compression Slot
Assemblies and methods for fixation of bone or bone fragments using an orthopedic plate having a slot that causes the bone or bone fragments to compress as a screw is inserted into the slot and rotated therein. By anchoring the orthopedic plate to a first bone or bone fragment and rotating the screw into the second bone or bone fragment at an angle that may be up to approximately fifteen degrees from perpendicular to the top surface of the orthopedic plate, the screw head causes the orthopedic plate to traverse away from the first screw thereby causing the first bone or bone fragment to be drawn toward and/or compress with the second bone or bone fragment.
Anchoring Apparatus
This invention provides an anchoring apparatus comprising a primary anchor and a secondary anchor. The primary anchor defines a primary bore, a tail section, and a head section. The head section defines a pair of substantially parallel bores extending through the head section of the primary anchor. The secondary anchor is sized and configured to mate with the head section of the primary anchor at a head section opening of the primary bore.
Implant and method for posterior sacroiliac fusion
An implant and method for posterior sacroiliac fusion having a plate for placement across the posterior surface of the sacroiliac joint, a transverse pin to slide through the plate and transverse the joint as well as provide an aperture to receive bone graft, and a sacral screw to be inserted through the plate.
Orthopedic implant in the form of a plate to be fixed between two bone parts
The invention relates to a plate fixed between two bone parts by way of screws engaged in holes formed in the thickness of said plate. The plate comprises an angled member or rib which is inclined according to an angle of between about 30° and 60° in relation to the plane defined by the plate. The angled member or rib has a hole for engaging a screw and is located in the central part of the width, over a determined part of the length of the plate, so that the screw brings the two bone parts into a compressive position.
Bone plate
Variable angle holes in bone plates that are structured to facilitate the formation of axial compression or tension of a bone, or which can assist in bone distraction. The variable angle hole can extend about a central axis and includes an inwardly extending wedge wall. The variable angle hole can be sized to receive insertion of a fixation element at a location at which a central longitudinal axis of the fixation element is axially offset from the central axis of the variable angle hole by an offset distance at least when the fixation element is initially driven into bone at least in a transverse direction. The wedge wall can be configured to be engaged by a portion of the fixation element in a manner that axially displaces at least one of the bone plate, the fixation element, and/or bone(s) in a direction that can generally reduce or increase the offset distance.
Moveable bone plate implantation system and method of use
The present invention discloses a moveable bone plate implantation system, controlled movement assembly, and method. The moveable bone plate implantation system includes a movement instrument, translation member removeably coupled to the movement instrument, and a bone plate detachably connected to the translation member. The controlled movement assembly includes a translation member and a bone plate. The translation member includes a shaft with a first end and a second end and a head portion at the first end. The head portion includes an engagement groove recessed into the head portion and a lip extending out from a bottom portion of the engagement groove. The bone plate includes an engagement aperture for receiving the engagement groove and the lip engages a bottom surface of the bone plate during translation of the bone plate. A method for moving bones is also disclosed.
