APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR JOINING BONES
20230057743 · 2023-02-23 ·

Apparatus and methods are provided for using a plate to fuse bones together, including reducing or stabilizing a fracture or osteotomy. Legs of the plate are inserted into pre-drilled guide holes in one of the bones and one or more screws are inserted through apertures and into another of the bones to secure the plate to the bones. A plate insertion tool can be used to temporarily tension the legs prior to insertion into predrilled guide holes in a bone by bending or pivoting the legs away from the body. A tensioning tool can be used to tension the plate after the legs are inserted into the guide holes in the bone and during the insertion of one or more of the screws.

Four corner fusion device

A method, system, and apparatus for bone fusion. Bone fusion can be performed using an elongated plate having a top face and a bottom face and defining a plurality of screw apertures therethrough. The elongated plate has a longitudinal dimension between a first and second ends and a lateral dimension between first and second sides. The screw apertures are defined in a generally straight line along the longitudinal dimension of the elongated plate, and three or more of the screw apertures are configured to facilitate different trajectories of bone screws through each of the three or more screw apertures. The screw apertures are configured to facilitate trajectories of bone screws to secure at least three bones to the elongated plate.

Retention system and method

A retention system includes a first member having an inner surface defining a first thread form. The first thread form includes a first stage having a first pitch and a second stage having a second pitch that is greater than the first pitch. A second member includes a shaft and a neck. The shaft includes an outer surface defining a second thread form configured to engage the first thread form to lock the second member with the first member. The neck includes a smooth unthreaded section. Methods of use are disclosed.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR BONE FIXATION

A fracture fixation system includes a connector having a proximal connecting end for connecting to a first end of a cord configured to extend around a bone to provide fixation to a fracture of the bone. The connector includes a distal connecting end opposite the connector relative to the proximal end for attaching to a second end of the cord extending around the bone. The proximal connecting end includes a proximal lock member, a distal lock member and a medial lock member between the proximal lock member and the distal lock member. The proximal lock member is located at a bottom of the proximal connecting end and the medial lock member is located at a top of the proximal connecting end.

The tine plate may include an elongate body and first and second ears extending from the elongate body, each of the first and second ears defining a screw hole therethrough, and a first tine extending from the first ear and a second tine extending from the second ear, the first and second tines each terminating at a sharp point.

SCREW, SYSTEM COMPRISING A SCREW AND A PLATE, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A SCREW

The invention relates to a screw (1), preferably a bone screw, comprising a shaft (2) with a tip (3), a head (4) and a thread (5). The shaft further comprises a longitudinal axis (A). An array of radial cross-sectional surfaces (Q) of the head (4) extend through the longitudinal axis (A) of the screw (1), the location of each radial cross-sectional surface (Q) being defined by an azimuth angle (6) in a plane (E) perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (A). Each radial cross-sectional area (Q) has an area defined by the longitudinal axis (A) and the outer surface of the screw (8). The thread (5) extends into the head (4) in such a way that the surface areas of the radial cross-sectional surfaces (Q′) in a first azimuth angle range (9) are constant and the surface areas of the radial cross-sectional surfaces (Q″) in a second azimuth angle range (10), which is different from the first, have a different, preferably smaller, value than the surface areas in the first azimuth angle range (9). The first azimuth angle range (9) is at most 350°, preferably at most 345°.
