Systems and methods for bone stabilization and fixation

Systems for the minimally invasive repair, stabilization and/or fixation of a fractured bone, such as a rib, are disclosed. The systems include one or more rods/support members that are designed to extend along a dimension of a bone being repaired and secure the fractured bone. The support members can be photodynamic, and are formed using an expandable member that is filled with a light-sensitive liquid that is cured to form the rigid support member. Two or more clamps are used to secure the support member(s) to the rib or other bone. Minimally invasive surgical methods for securing the systems to a fractured bone are also disclosed.

STERNUM REPLACEMENT PLATE MADE IN ONE PIECE

Provided is an implant for sternum replacement including an upper face, a posterior face, extensions for fitting with the ribs and extensions for fitting with the manubrium, wherein that implant is manufactured in a single piece with high performance engineering polymers, with an anatomical adjustment tailored to each patient, which guarantees the reduction of the number of elements in contact with the patient, facilitating and speeding up the surgical procedure, at the same time, the required mechanical and flexibility properties, are guaranteed.

Quick release sternum closing fixator

A quick release sternum closing fixator has a locking roller, and a male fixing piece and a female fixing piece that can be plugged together. The male fixing piece has an elastic plug and the first claw hook plate. The elastic plug has the first serration on both sides and a tightening groove in the middle, thus forming two elastic claws. A tensioning device forces the two elastic claws to move against each other is provided between the said locking roller and the two elastic claws. After the locking roller rotates, when the elastic claws on the male fixing piece lose resilience due to the growth of human tissues, the two elastic claws can be forcibly pulled back to the initial state by rotating the locking roller, thus smoothly and quickly opening the sternum closing fixator.

Flexible guide for application of bone plates

Embodiments herein employ a flexible orthopedic alignment guide for surgical implantation of flexible bone plates. Specifically, the alignment guide is designed to be used in conjunction with flexible bone plates whereby flexible sections of the alignment guide aid in alignment of drill bits and fasteners with the fastener holes of the bone plate. The flexible guide is designed to flex in a similar manner to the bone plate, thus maintaining positive engagement without compromising hole alignment.
