The needle guide can be configured to guide a needle through the arcuate hole.

Implant positioning devices and methods

An implant positioning device including a guide and holder for fasteners used in orthopaedic fixation for use in affixing a plate-like member to a bone or other part of a patient. The guide and holder includes a base adapted to align with the plate in a manner to orient fasteners with the plate for fixation. A plurality of fastener holders are on the base and adapted to releasably hold a fastener in a manner where the fastener is exposed at a proximal end for access by a fastener driver and aligned at a distal end with an aperture on the plate through which the fastener is to be driven.

STERNOTOMY SPACING DEVICE

A device and a method for keeping the sternal edges apart for the procedure of delayed sternal closure is disclosed in which one or more, specifically shaped struts or stents are insinuated horizontally between the edges of the open sternum, keeping the two edges of the divided sternum apart by a distance determined by the length of the middle bar of the device. The disclosed device has lateral ends which are manually engaged to the medial ends of the sternal edges, by an insinuating movement while the said lateral ends of the apparatus hold onto the medial portion of the sternal edges by a passive, cupping grip which can be further secured by anchoring sutures. The whole of the disclosed device is in the form of a single piece, without any moving parts, joints, screws or nuts & bolts. The present device provides a method and an instrument which occupies minimum inter-sternal space and provides maximum sub-sternal space for accommodating cardiac oedema.

Sternum Fixation Devices and Methods

A sternum fixation device includes a plate having a first end and a second end, a right lateral edge and a left lateral edge, an inner side configured for placement against the sternum, and an outer side. A first lobe includes a band socket defined as a blind recess in the outer side of the plate. The band socket includes a right lateral stop and a left lateral stop opposite the right lateral stop. A right lateral channel is defined in the first lobe from the right lateral edge to the band socket, the right lateral channel defined above a right side floor in the socket. A left lateral channel opposite the right lateral channel is defined in the first lobe from the left lateral edge to the band socket, the left lateral channel defined above a left floor in the socket.

A Rib Fracture Fixation Device and Methods for Use Thereof

The disclosure provides example methods, systems and apparatus for stabilization of a rib. An example method includes: (a) accessing a medullary canal of a rib having a fracture, (b) advancing a guidewire into the medullary canal across the fracture, (c) advancing a delivery catheter containing a stent over the guidewire into the medullary canal and across the fracture, (d) retracting the delivery catheter relative to the stent, and (e) expanding the stent in the medullary canal.

System and method to fuse bone

An implant is provided that is operable to be disposed between and fuse two sections of a bone. The implant includes an inner layer and an outer layer. The outer layer at least partially surrounds the inner layer and is operable to abut against the two sections of the bone. The outer layer is porous and/or fibrous and is operable to receive at least one cellular growth factor.

Split sternum prosthesis
11191578 · 2021-12-07 · ·

The present disclosure relates to an implantable split sternum prosthesis to facilitate closure of the chest cavity and relieve pain after sternotomy operations. The split sternum prosthesis which after a surgical procedure is placed along the inline incision made in the sternum bone will also facilitate access to the chest cavity for patients in need of repeated surgical operations inside the chest cavity. The split sternum prosthesis comprises two elongated bone attachment plates, a first bone attachment plate and a second bone attachment plate. The first and he second bone attachment plates each have a bone attachment surface and a coupling surface. The first and second bone attachment plates are adapted be coupled together in a very close fit along their coupling surfaces.

BONE REDUCTION AND FIXATION PLATE
20220192719 · 2022-06-23 · ·

A bone reduction and fixation device (1, 70) comprises an elongated biplanar plate along most of its length having an L-shaped profile defined by a first plate surface (3A, 4A) and one or more second plates (3B, 4B), in which the first and second plates comprise a plurality of countersunk holes (8) configured for receipt of bone-fixing screws (10). The biplanar plate comprises two biplanar L-shaped end sections (3, 4) defined by end parts of the first plate and second end plates, and a monoplanar central section (2) defined by a central part of the first plate, in which the central part of the first plate has a thickness greater than the end parts. The L-shaped end sections help guide bone fragments into correct alignment and hold the alignment while the surgeon adjusts one of or both of the fragments laterally and medially to reduce the fragments. The L-shaped profile of the plate also provides for greater bending and torsional stiffness, allowing the plate to have a reduced thickness.

Pectus bar support devices and methods

A pectus bar assembly including a bar support and a pectus bar. The bar support can include a fastener and a fabric. A fabric can encircle a first rib and a second rib of a human ribcage. The fabric can include a first free end securable to the fastener and a second free end securable to the fastener to tension the fabric around the first rib and the second rib. The pectus bar can include an elongate body. The elongate body can include an anterior side and a posterior side opposite the anterior side. The posterior side can be supported by the bar support between the first rib and the second rib.

Implant positioning devices and methods

Implant positioning devices and fastener guides for implant positioning devices are disclosed for assisting in positioning orthopaedic fixation devices (such as bone plates, etc.). A fastener guide may include a body with slits in a first end of the body that form a guide arm proximal to the first end of the body. The guide arm is configured to releasably hold a fastener in the fastener guide. The fastener guide may also be coupled to a bone plate to facilitate ease of alignment and insertion of the fastener into a fastener apertures of the bone plate.
