Ligament fixation system, implants, and devices with a compression cap, and methods of use
Implants, devices, systems, and methods for achieving ligament fixation are disclosed. An implant comprises a cap member comprising an internally threaded opening extending from a first end thereof, an anchor portion comprising a first end that defines a tip of the implant and external threads, and a coupling portion extending between the cap member and the anchor portion. The coupling portion of the implant includes an externally threaded portion threadably coupled within the internally threaded opening of the cap member. The cap member of the implant is longitudinally moveable along the coupling portion. Insertion instruments for inserting an implant for ligament fixation are also disclosed. Methods of using an implant for achieving ligament fixation are also disclosed.
SELF-RETAINING SCREW AND SCREWDRIVER
A bone screw insertion device, comprises an outer sleeve extending from a proximal end to a distal end and including a channel extending therethrough and a driving member extending longitudinally through the channel of the outer sleeve from a proximal end to a distal end configured to engage a driving recess of a bone screw, the outer sleeve movable relative to the driving member between a first position in which the distal end of the outer sleeve extends over and covers a proximal portion of a bone screw engaged with the driving member, to a second position in which the distal end of the outer sleeve is longitudinally aligned with a proximal end of a bone screw engaged with the driving member.
Method of treating osteoarthritis of the knee
The method of treating osteoarthritis of the knee includes replacing the entire cartilage of the femoral condyle, proximal tibia, and two menisci using allograft, while retaining the native cruciate ligaments. The method includes resection of the proximal tibia and the femoral condyle. A first allograft is configured to replace the femoral condyle and includes whole cartilage with about 5 mm to about 7 mm of cancellous bone attached. The first allograft can have a slot or opening through which native cruciate ligaments may pass. A second allograft can replace the upper end of the tibia and menisci. The second allograft can include a slot or opening through which native cruciate ligaments may pass. The first and second allografts can be fixed using cancellous screws. The procedure can provide patients with full knee flexion, and thereby enable kneeling, e.g., as required in the Islamic prayers, full kneeling, or any other activity which requires full flexion of the knee and kneeling.
SUTURE ANCHOR
An anchor device and system for coupling soft tissue to osseous tissue includes a stopper member that supports a loop of suture material. A fixing member includes features that allow it to be rigidly coupled to surrounding bone and thus hold the stopper member in a cavity within the bone. The loop of suture material, in turn, supports a second suture device, which is coupled to, and thus retains, the soft tissue. In certain embodiments, the fixing member includes a wadding structure having a generally elastic property.
Demineralized bone fiber implant compositions and methods for rotator cuff and ACL repair
A composition and methods of making or use thereof include a plurality of fibers forming a shape for augmenting tendon to bone repair. The physical presence of the plurality of fibers provides initial fixation, while the use of an osteoinductive material provides long term enhancement of bone formation around the site of the tendon to bone repair.
Small joint fixation
A method of joining adjacent bone includes providing a medical device having a first implant portion, a second implant portion attached to the first implant portion, and a driver assembly having an instrument adapted to form an opening in bone. The driver assembly is integrally connected to and removably attached to the second implant portion at a connection, distal from the first implant portion. The driver assembly further has a wire driver extending therefrom, distal from the first implant portion. The method further includes inserting the wire driver into a wire driver tool; placing the first implant portion against a first bone structure; inserting the first implant portion into the first bone structure; removing the second implant portion from the driver assembly; using the driver assembly to form an opening in a second bone structure, adjacent to the first bone structure; and inserting the second implant portion into the opening.
Graft fixation screw with tangs
The graft fixation device with tangs combines a fixation screw body with tangs that extend from an internal position to an external position, the tangs piercing and gripping the bone and the graft. The use of tangs overcomes the prior art limitations of relying exclusively on compression, which increased the risk of failure, including failure modes such as the graft sliding out of the hole.
HEADLESS COMPRESSION SCREW DRIVER SYSTEM
A compression screw driver system including a drive member having a shaft extending from a proximal end to a distal end. A drive selection member is positioned about the shaft and is axially moveable along the shaft between an engagement position and a disengaged position. A distal portion of the drive selection member defines a first engagement structure. A compression sleeve is positioned over the distal end of the shaft. The proximal end of the compression sleeve defines a second engagement structure which complements the first engagement structure and the distal end of the compression sleeve defines a contact surface. In the engagement position the first and second engagement structures are engaged and the compression sleeve rotates with the drive member and in the disengaged position the first and second engagement structures are disengaged and the compression sleeve remains stationary while the drive member rotates.
Plug for bone tissue
A cylindrical plug to close a femoral opening drilled in a femur to receive an intramedullary cutting guide, to prevent bleeding from the opening after removal of the intramedullary cutting guide from the opening.
