PROTECTIVE CONTAINER FOR STERILIZED MEDICAL IMPLANTS
A protective container for a sterilized medical implant includes a base including a hollow body having a closed end and an opened end. The base including a thread. A cap is secured about the opened end of the hollow body. The cap includes a thread that cooperates with the thread provided on the base such that relative rotation of the base and the cap causes relative axial movement of the base and the cap. A sealing member is compressed between the base and the cap to provide a seal therebetween as a result of relative axial movement of the base and the cap.
Orthopedic bone plate system
A bone plate has first and second sides, each with the same structure. The plate includes nodes separated by deformable bridges. Each node defines a screw hole, and wings extending laterally therefrom. The wings taper in thickness between the first and second sides. Screw holes are threaded into the nodes. The plate can be shaped to the bone by deformation at the bridges or removal of portions of the plate at bridges.
PEDICLE SCREW TULIP HEAD
A bone fastener includes a tulip head including sides spaced by an opening and a lower portion below the opening and extending from the sides. The lower portion is formed with a lower central opening configured to allow a portion of a pedicle screw to pass. The lower portion is formed with at least one aperture offset sideways from the lower central opening.
Automated screw identification system and method with labeled pegs
A peg, suitable for insertion into a hole in a surgical tray, includes a cap piece, a directional member, and a columnar protrusion. The cap piece includes a machine-readable object that contains data representing information about one or more surgical assets. The directional member has a directional feature which points in a particular direction and which may be oriented to point to one or more surgical assets having the properties represented by the data on the machine-readable object. The columnar protrusion is suitable for being securely inserted into a hole in the surgical tray, such as by being pushed into a hole in a rubber footer. Removal of a surgical asset from the tray is performed by reading data from the machine-readable object that points to the surgical asset and using that data to modify a count of the type of object contained in the tray.
DEVICE FOR HOLDING AND RELEASING AN OBJECT, CORRESPONDING ASSEMBLY AND RELEASE METHOD
A device for holding and releasing an object (2), such as a medical implant, is proposed. The device comprises two hook systems (11, 12) to which said object (2) is able to be coupled so as to allow said hook systems (11, 12) to jointly hold said object (2). Said hook systems (11, 12) are configured such that, in the state in which said object (2) is coupled to said hook systems (11, 12), at least one of the hook systems (11, 12) is subjected to a return force (F11, F12) that makes it possible to keep the object (2) coupled to said hook systems (11, 12). Also proposed are a corresponding assembly and a corresponding releasing method.
SURGICAL BONE SCREW METHOD AND APPARATUS
A bone screw cutting system can include a cutting assembly having a plurality of blades. The system can further include a position adjustment assembly coupled to the cutting assembly and configured to receive a bone screw blank and position the bone screw blank relative to the cutting assembly. The cutting assembly is configured to cut a bone screw blank received by the position adjustment assembly and to form a self-tapping end portion at a cut end of a resulting cut bone screw.
One Step Surgical Screw Fixation Technique and Design
A surgical screw that is self-countersinking, self-tapping/fluted, self-drilling, and having a knurled shank designed for one step insertion. The screw has a stepped driving portion.
Packaging for trochanteric femoral nail telescoping head element
A system includes an implant and a packaging device assembled with the implant to hold an outer sleeve and a head element of the implant in a desired position relative to one another. The packaging device includes clip arms sized and shaped so that, when the arms are held toward a closed configuration, the implant is housed therebetween in the desired position and proximal ends of the arms form a space via which an insertion device is insertable to be coupled to the implant, and a housing defining a space within which the clip is housed. The housing includes a retaining feature for retaining the clip therein and a camming element which, when a proximal force is exerted on the implant via the insertion device coupled thereto, causes the arms to move away from one toward an open configuration to release the implant therefrom.
Universal sterile packaging assembly
A universal sterile packaging assembly for an orthopedic device includes an outer blister having a first recessed central region and an inner blister having a second recessed central region. The second recessed central region includes a protrusion configured for securement of a medical part thereto. The inner blister is sized to fit within the first recessed central region. The assembly also includes a first lid securable to the inner blister and a second lid securable to the outer blister so as to enclose the inner blister within the outer blister.
