A crimp cap apparatus includes: a crimp sleeve having a peripheral wall defining an exterior surface and an interior passage sized to receive a tensile member having a predetermined outer diameter, the crimp sleeve being configured such that it can be crimped around the tensile member by an application of mechanical force which reduces its dimensions from a first size to a second, smaller size; and a cap having a bottom surface, a convex top surface, a central bore extending from the bottom surface to the top surface for receiving the crimp sleeve, wherein the cap includes a clamping structure disposed in the central bore and configured to permit elastic deflection in response to being pressed over the crimp sleeve the crimp sleeve and apply a clamping force there-to to secure the cap in place.

LORDOTIC ROD-WASHER IMPLANT FOR LUMBO-SACRAL FUSION

The preferred embodiment of the present invention is generally described as a lordotic pre-sacral rod implant, or implant construct, for use in association with spinal fusion procedures. In an embodiment, the lordotic pre-sacral rod implant incorporates a washer configured to press against the endplate of the L5 vertebral body and thereby force the vertebral bodies of the lumbosacral junction into a lordotic orientation.

Exemplary intramedullary implant systems are provided for performing surgical procedures. The intramedullary implant systems may be used for performing bone fracture, bone fusion, or osteotomy procedures within joints.

System and Method for Altering Growth of Bones
20230310034 · 2023-10-05 ·

The present inventions relate to a system and method for altering growth of bones. More precisely, the system is an orthopedic apparatus for correcting rotational deformities and limb length discrepancies. A system of cable-couplings with linking members is used, the linking members being posts or screws traversing bones. Due to the flexibility and adaptability of the system and its components, the cable-coupling members may be installed at varying angles and locations while allowing for growth arrest or rotational corrections of said bones. A method to limit growth using cable-couplings systems is also provided.

SUTURE-LOCKING WASHER FOR USE WITH A BONE ANCHOR, AND METHOD FOR SUPPORTING THE THUMB OF A PATIENT AFTER BASAL JOINT ARTHROPLASTY, AND OTHER NOVEL ORTHOPEDIC APPARATUS AND OTHER NOVEL ORTHOPEDIC PROCEDURES

The invention provides surgical methods, devices, apparatus, and systems for supporting the thumb of a patient after basal joint arthroplasty. The embodiments of the invention comprise at least one index metacarpal anchor, at least one thumb metacarpal anchor, at least one sling for positioning the thumb metacarpal anchor relative to the index metacarpal anchor, and at least one anchor washer for tightening and securing the sling(s) without the need to tie the suture(s) components of the sling(s) into knots. Index and thumb metacarpal anchors comprise at least one bone-engaging element for engaging the respective metacarpal. The anchor washer may incorporate one or more sling-engagement mechanisms. Increasing the number of sling-engagement mechanisms associated with the anchor washer increases the surface area of the sling(s) and provides multiple sling elements to provide redundancy and increase the pull force of the sling(s) attachment(s) used to affix the thumb and index metacarpal anchors into a position relative to each other.

Bone compression systems

Bone compression systems for internal fixation of bone portions include one or more spring washers having ultra high load capacity and ultra low displacement to close diminution gaps that develop in a discontinuity between the bone portions after fixation. The spring washers may be included in implant systems with bone screws and/or bone plates.

Deformable body and combination of such deformable body and a surgical screw element

The present invention provides a deformable body (2), wherein the deformable body comprises a force application surface (12) opposite a bone contact surface (52) to be pressed against periosteum of a bone surface (52) of a bone such that the bone contact surface adapts its shape to the shape of the bone surface, wherein the deformable body comprises one or more through-going openings (3) and/or one or more fixation locations (34) arranged to receive a fixation element such as as screw (20), and wherein the deformable body comprises an anaesthetic that is released from or through the bone contact surface. The anaesthetic can be bupivicaine, liposome bupivacaine, lidocaine or levobupivacaine. The anaesthetic can be arranged in one or more compartments (6, 7) which have different release rates. The screw can comprise a detent or rim to mate with the deformable body. A sleeve (80) can be arranged in the opening (3) to receive the screw. A pusher element (81) can push the deformable body from the sleeve into position on the screw shank (21).

RETENTION SYSTEM AND METHOD

A retention system includes a first member having an inner surface defining a first thread form. The first thread form includes a first stage having a first pitch and a second stage having a second pitch that is greater than the first pitch. A second member includes a shaft and a neck. The shaft includes an outer surface defining a second thread form configured to engage the first thread form to lock the second member with the first member. The neck includes a smooth unthreaded section. Methods of use are disclosed.

LENGTH ADJUSTABLE MODULAR SCREW SYSTEM

A length adjustable modular screw includes a neck assembly and a shank. The neck assembly has proximal and distal ends and includes an expander component and a collet component that are slidably engagable by insertion of the expander component in a through channel of the collet component along a common axis. The length adjustable modular screw also includes a shank suitable for insertion and retention within a bone, the shank including a threaded portion between proximal and distal ends and a socket adapted to coaxially receive at least a portion of the distal end of the neck assembly. The length adjustable modular screw has a length that is selected by splaying at least a portion of the distal end of the engaged expander and collet components of the neck assembly within the socket of the shank.
