Kits and methods are disclosed.

BONE MATERIAL DISPENSING SYSTEM WITH LOCKING MEMBER

A bone material dispensing device is provided. The bone material dispensing device comprises a housing having a proximal end, a distal end, and a longitudinal axis. The proximal end having a first opening and the distal end having a second opening. The first opening and the second opening configured to slidably receive at least a portion of a plunger. A locking member is provided that is pivotably connected to an upper surface of the housing and extends adjacent to the upper surface of the housing. The locking member comprises a locking surface extending adjacent to the distal end of the housing configured to engage a portion of a tubular member, a funnel, or a combination thereof. The locking member is movable in a locking position to lock the portion of the tubular member, the funnel, or the combination thereof with the housing. A bone material dispensing system and a method of implanting bone material with the bone material dispensing system are also provided.

Curable Material Dispensing System And Methods Of Operating And Packaging The Same

A system for dispensing curable material. A lead screw is rotatably fixed relative to a first control surface and includes external threads. A locking nut includes internal threads threadably engaging the external threads. An engagement feature of the locking nut is adapted to be selectively engaged with an actuator having a second control surface. The threads provide for rotation of the locking nut about a translation axis when the actuator is in a disengaged position. Rotation of the locking nut permits the lead screw to move proximally along the axis and the compressed curable material to at least partially decompress within a dispensing volume. The threads further provide for distal advancement of the lead screw along the axis when the actuator is in an engaged position rotatably fixing the locking nut about the axis. Methods for operating and packaging the curable material dispensing system are also described.

ORTHOPAEDIC SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS FOR DIRECT ANTERIOR APPROACH HIP ARTHROPLASTY AND METHODS OF USE

Orthopaedic instruments for use in a direct anterior approach orthopaedic surgical hip replacement procedure on a patient's femur are disclosed. One such orthopaedic instrument may be embodied as a cement nozzle sized for insertion in a medullary canal of the patient's femur. The cement nozzle may include a first lumen for introducing a bone cement composition into the medullary canal. The cement nozzle may also include a second lumen for removing one or more bodily fluids from the medullary canal during introduction of the bone cement composition. The first and second lumens may each be curved along a distal portion of the cement nozzle.

A kyphoplasty system includes various instruments which can be selectively used in a surgical theater (e.g., during a surgical operation on a patient) or a surgical training environment. The kyphoplasty system can include one or more of a kyphoplasty apparatus, a prone table mat, a connector system, a bone introducer needle, and a biopsy device. The kyphoplasty system may also include a training system for use in the training environment.

Remotely-activated vertebroplasty injection device

A remotely-activated injection device for use in vertebroplasty is provided to inject a flourescent probe material into a patient. The injection device includes a pump defining an injection chamber having an exit opening; an actuator; and a cable having a first end coupled to the actuator, and a second end remotely engaging the pump. The actuator remotely controls the pump by responsive movement of the cable to thereby cause injection of a flourescent probe material from the injection chamber of the pump through the exit opening to the patient.

A system for delivering bone cement into a bone is provided. The system can include a hydraulic system actuatable to deliver a bone cement mixture from a bone cement container, through a cannula and into a bone. The hydraulic system can have more than one pressure relief mechanism for decreasing pressure in the hydraulic system to cease delivery (e.g., substantially instantaneously) of the bone cement into the bone.

DISPENSING SYSTEM AND METHOD

A dispensing system includes a device having a body extending along a longitudinal axis between opposite proximal and distal ends. The body includes a proximal chamber, a distal chamber and a wall between the chambers. The body includes a first port in communication with the proximal chamber and a second port in communication with the distal chamber. A shaft is movably positioned within the body. The shaft extending through the wall and comprising a proximal plunger positioned within the proximal chamber and a distal plunger positioned within the distal chamber. Wherein pressure introduced through an opening in the proximal end moves the shaft such that the proximal plunger moves a material within the proximal chamber out of the first port and the distal plunger moves a material within the distal chamber out of the second port. Kits and methods of use are disclosed.

Use of vibration with orthopedic cements

Methods of employing bone defect filling, e.g., orthopedic cements, such as calcium phosphate cements and the like, are provided. A feature of the subject methods is that vibration is employed in conjunction with the use of the cement, e.g., in preparation of the cement, in preparation of the target site, in delivery of the cement to the target site, and/or following delivery of the cement to the target site. Also provided are devices, systems and kits that find use in practicing the subject methods. The subject methods, devices and systems find use in a variety of different applications.
