An integrated targeted kyphoplasty system includes a piercing head, a tube body and a tube body handle. The tube body has an end connected to the piercing head and is provided with a balloon and a guider at an end of the balloon, and another end connected to the tube body handle and provided with a guide knob for controlling the guider to be bent and a pressure pump connector communicating the balloon. The piercing head is provided with a cement outlet, a cement channel is in center of the tube body, and the tube body handle is provided with a cement inlet. The cement outlet, cement channel and cement inlet communicate with each other. The device requires for only one piercing to complete entire KP surgical treatment without changing any tools, greatly decreasing radiation exposure rate of the patient during operation and the pain caused by multiple operations.

Implantable nuclear prosthesis, kits, and related methods

The present disclosure includes devices, apparatuses, kits, and methods for replacing a nucleus pulposus of an intervertebral disc with an implantable nuclear prosthesis filled with a curable silicone material in situ. Configurations of the present spinal implant devices include a flexible body defining an outer fillable enclosure that defines an outer chamber, an inner fillable enclosure that defines an inner chamber, and a proximal plug configured to be coupled to the inner fillable enclosure.

Photodynamic articular joint implants and methods of use

Photodynamic devices for replacement of an articular head of a bone are provided. In an embodiment, a photodynamic device includes a photodynamic support member and an articular member attachable, either fixedly or removably, to the photodynamic support member and having a bearing surface. In an embodiment, the articular member includes a recess designed to receive the photodynamic support member. In an embodiment, the photodynamic support member includes an opening into which a shaft of the articular member can be inserted to attach the articular member to the photodynamic support member.

Directional kyphoplasty device and method of using such a device

A device for correcting a compression-type fracture including a housing at a proximal end of the device, a cannula extending from the housing and through a directional balloon, and a tip at a distal end of the cannula, wherein the cannula has an outer tube for supplying fluid to the balloon and an inner tube positioned within the outer tube for supplying cement through at least one opening in the distal end of the cannula. A method of using the device where the device is inserted into a fracture site, the balloon is inflated to elevate fragments of the fracture, cement is injected into the opening created by elevating the fragments of the fracture and the device is removed from the fracture site. The balloon may be deflated before the injection of the cement or simultaneous with the injection of the cement.

Placeholder suitable for medical use

A medical placeholder. The medical placeholder has at least one hollow body which is expandable and which defines an interior space, a gas infeed hose which is connected or connectable in a gas-permeable manner with the interior space of the hollow body, and a gas discharge hose which is connected or connectable in a gas-permeable manner with the interior space of the hollow body. The hollow body consists partly or completely of at least one plastic material which is permeable to oxygen and carbon dioxide. A one-way valve is arranged in the gas infeed hose and a pressure relief valve is arranged in the gas discharge hose. Also disclosed is a method for gas-flushing a surface of a medical placeholder.

Apparatus and associated methods relate to a balloon kyphoplasty surgical device comprising an extrusion tube having internal fluid channels and a support wire, a port arrangement positioned on a proximal end of the extrusion tube and a balloon arrangement positioned on a distal end of the extrusion tube, the balloon arrangement resulting in a cubic shape when inflated by the port arrangement. An exemplary implementation may be configured with multiple inner balloons housed in an outer balloon to create a specific shape. Some designs may be configured with multiple ports designed to individually and independently inflate each inner balloon and outer balloon. The outer balloon may be inflatable. The outer balloon may be sealed off, constraining inflation of the inner balloons to create a cubic-like shape when the inner balloons are inflated within the sealed outer balloon, resulting in improved vertebral structure stabilization by increased surface area lifting the bone.

A method of reinforcing a femoral neck comprises creating a bore proximate to at least one of a Ward's triangle and a greater trochanter, creating at least one cavity in a cancellous bone region of the femoral neck, inserting a substantially collapsed support structure through the bore and into the at least one cavity, expanding the support structure, and allowing at least a portion of the load from the femoral neck bone to be transferred to the support structure. The support structure compresses at least a portion of the cancellous bone upon expansion. A cavity created by the expansion is adapted to receive a filler material such as, but not limited to, bone cement.

An inflatable bone tamp includes an outer shaft defining a passageway. An inner shaft is positioned within the passageway. The inner shaft defines a lumen. A balloon has a first end coupled to the outer shaft and a second end coupled to the inner shaft such that material can flow through the lumen and into the balloon and exit the balloon through a channel between the inner and outer shafts. A valve is positioned within the channel. The valve is configured to move from a closed orientation in which the valve blocks the channel and an open orientation in which the does not block the channel. Kits, systems and methods are disclosed.

CORTICAL RIM-SUPPORTING INTERBODY DEVICE AND METHOD

An inflatable central distractor is inserted in to a disc space between two vertebral endplates. A perimeter balloon is inserted into the disc space in such a manner as to surround the central inflatable distractor. The perimeter balloon and the central inflatable distractor are simultaneously expanded such that as the central inflatable distractor expands the perimeter balloon surrounds the central inflatable distractor and such that the central inflatable distractor and the perimeter balloon, when expanded, contribute to forcing adjacent vertebral endplates apart.
