MULTIPLE SET SCREW INSERTION INSTRUMENT AND METHODS
This disclosure relates generally to surgical instruments used to deliver locking or set screws to secure a rod or spinal fixation element relative to an implanted bone anchor or other spinal fixation construct during spine surgery. In one embodiment, the inserter instrument can include an inner driver shaft, a ratcheted outer sleeve, and a handle configured to receive the shafts therein. The inner driver shaft can receive a plurality of set screws on a distal end thereof. A side latch, pawl, or button can engage with the ratcheted outer sleeve to facilitate step-wise advancement of the sleeve relative to the driver shaft for set screw delivery. Step-wise advancement can be controlled using another button that causes movement of the side latch
INSTRUMENT FOR INSERTING AN INTERSPINOUS PROCESS IMPLANT
An insertion device for deploying an implant includes an elongated main body having a distal locking portion for coupling to the implant and a proximal handle portion. The main body defines a central passage and the distal locking portion has outer ridges and slots to allow the outer ridges to flex radially inward when mounting to the implant. A plunger slides in the central passage for movement between an unlocked position for mounting the implant on the distal locking portion, a locked position for locking the implant on the distal locking portion, and an insertion instrument deployed position for deploying the actuation plunger to move the blades from the stowed position to the deployed position. A spike cap drive rotatably mounts on the main body having a socket end for engaging a drive nut on the implant to, in turn, move the spike cap.

A screwdriver assembly includes a screwdriver shaft and an insert. The screwdriver shaft extends longitudinally from a proximal end to a distal end and having a longitudinal channel extending therethrough. The insert has a longitudinal shaft received within the longitudinal channel and a distal end extending distally relative to the distal end of the screwdriver shaft. The insert shaft is rotatable relative to the screwdriver shaft. The distal end of the insert is sized and shaped to engage a head of a screw. The distal end of the insert is disengaged from the screw head by rotating the insert relative to the screwdriver shaft.

Embodiments are directed to fusion implants, insertion instruments, and methods of using the same for implanting one or more fusion implants across a sacroiliac joint and into an ilium and sacrum for fusing the sacroiliac joint. In some cases, fusion-promoting material may be inserted in the fusion implant for further promoting fusion across the sacroiliac joint. In some cases, neurophysiologic monitoring may be performed as the fusion implants are placed across the sacroiliac joint.

An orthopedic implant kit for tightening a set screw to a head of a pedicle screw for holding a spinal rod to the pedicle screw, the kit including a screw extender for holding the head of the pedicle screw, a set screw driver for engaging with the set screw to threadably tighten the set screw to the head of the pedicle screw, a first torque limiting mechanism for limiting a torque between the set screw driver and the screw extender to a first torque value or a first torque indication mechanism for indicating that the first torque has been reached, and a second torque limiting mechanism for limiting a torque between the set screw driver and the screw extender to a second torque value, the second torque value being higher than the first torque value.
