Surgical instrument and method
A surgical instrument includes a first member that includes a first element engageable with an inner surface of a head of a bone fastener and a second element engageable with an outer surface of the head. The first member defines a first-member longitudinal axis and the bone fastener defines a bone-fastener longitudinal axis. A second member defines a second-member longitudinal axis and is movable relative to the first member and engageable with the second element to dispose the first element and the second element with the head in a co-axial, capture orientation. wherein the first-member, bone-fastener, and second-member longitudinal axes are aligned. Systems, spinal constructs, implants and methods are disclosed.
Screw inserter instruments and methods
Screw inserter instruments and methods for implanting a bone screw are disclosed herein. In one exemplary embodiment, a screw inserter instrument can include a driver shaft, a retaining sleeve disposed around the driver shaft, and a locking sleeve disposed around the retaining sleeve. The locking sleeve can have a first position in which rotation of the driver shaft causes corresponding rotation of the retaining sleeve while the locking sleeve is held stationary, and a second position in which rotation of the locking sleeve causes corresponding rotation of the retaining sleeve while the driver shaft is held stationary.
Bone implant
A system and method for forming a hip implant offering minimal invasiveness is described. The system comprises means for positioning the implant under optical and X-ray control, an implant and an applicator for screwing and expanding the implant. The implant includes an insert body and an expansion tube with cut-outs and slits defining legs. The legs expand radially through windows in the insert body when the expansion tube is pushed against the sloped distal portion of the insert body. The expansion process may be ensured by using an anti-rotation device to prevent the insertion tube from rotating within the insert body. Applicator and implant are provided with means preventing cold welding during the implantation process.
Surgical instrument and method
A surgical system includes a bone fastener having a head and a shaft. The head has a drive interface surface including elliptical edges. A surgical instrument includes an inner drive and an outer sleeve that is engageable with an outer surface of the head to dispose the inner drive and the outer sleeve with the head in a co-axial, capture orientation. The inner drive has a drive interface surface including a plurality of spaced apart lobes. Each lobe has an elliptical edge engageable with one of the elliptical edges of the drive interface surface of the head. Spinal constructs, implants and methods are disclosed.
SELF-RETAINING SCREWDRIVER WITH ENGAGING TIP FEATURE
A screwdriver assembly includes a screwdriver shaft and an insert. The screwdriver shaft extends longitudinally from a proximal end to a distal end and having a longitudinal channel extending therethrough. The insert has a longitudinal shaft received within the longitudinal channel and a distal end extending distally relative to the distal end of the screwdriver shaft. The insert shaft is rotatable relative to the screwdriver shaft. The distal end of the insert is sized and shaped to engage a head of a screw. The distal end of the insert is disengaged from the screw bead by rotating the insert relative to the screwdriver shaft.
BONE ANCHOR FOR TRIANGULAR ILIOSACRAL OSTEOSYNTHESIS
The invention relates to a bone anchor for triangular iliosacral osteosynthesis. The bone anchor includes an ilium screw having a first longitudinal direction and an iliosacral screw having a second longitudinal direction. The ilium screw, in a thread-free portion, has a preferably elongated-hole-like through-opening transversely to the first longitudinal direction, and the iliosacral screw has such a smaller outer diameter in relation to the ilium screw that the iliosacral screw can be guided through the through-opening and can be screwed proceeding from the ilium into the sacrum, through the ilium screw.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INSERTING A FASTENER INTO BONE
An insertion guide for guiding a fastener having a head and a shaft. The insertion guide includes a sidewall constructed of a biocompatible material having an entrance end, an exit end, and a cavity extending from the entrance end to the exit end. The sidewall has a guide portion and a fastener connector portion. The guide portion of the sidewall extends from the entrance end toward the exit end, and the fastener connector portion of the sidewall extends from the exit end toward the guide portion. The sidewall in the guide portion is configured such that the cavity has a first cross-sectional distance greater than the head of the fastener. The sidewall in the fastener connector portion has a second cross-sectional distance greater than the shaft, and less than the head.
SPINAL IMPLANT SYSTEM AND METHODS OF USE
A spinal implant includes a first member configured to penetrate tissue and a second member. The second member has an abutment engageable with a surgical instrument and at least one peripheral capture element engageable with a moveable arm of the surgical instrument. Systems, spinal constructs, surgical instruments and methods are disclosed.
MEDICAL DRILL AND IMPLANT DEVICE AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME
The present disclosure is directed to a drill and implant device and method for using the same. The device is configured to drill a hole into an object, such as a bone; stop once a desired depth has been reached; and subsequently insert an implant, such as a screw or pin, into the hole. The device drills the hole and inserts the implant under its own power. The device may perform desired actions automatically or manually.
INTERFIXATED VERTEBRAL BODY REPLACEMENT AND INSERTION METHODS
Implants and instruments for providing an ideal trajectory for the insertion of instruments and screws during implantation of an interbody implant in a spinal surgery are disclosed.
