MATTER MANIPULATOR WITH CONDUCTIVE COATING
A device including a tissue manipulator, a conductive coating and at least one connector area. For example, the tissue manipulator may be scissors, clip appliers or clips, staplers and staple or a vessel sealing device. The conductive coating may be applied to the clip, staple or jaws of the scissors or sealing device. Electrical energy can be supplied through areas of contact (connector areas)—such as between an anvil and a pusher of the stapler and the conductive coating on the staple. The conductive coating can be energized along the mechanical application of the manipulator to transform and facilitate attachment of tissue layers.
CONNECTOR
A coupling system and related methods are disclosed. The system has a first plug detachably coupled to a first housing, and a first socket detachably coupled to a second housing. The first socket is configured to receive the first plug. The system is movable between a first configuration wherein the first and second housings are not engaged and a second configuration wherein the first and second housings are engaged and the first plug and the first socket are coupled together.
Enhancing performance of a capsulotomy device
The present disclosure provides a capsulotomy device having a unique insertion sleeve configuration comprising beveling and two notches at the distal end of the insertion sleeve. The unique configuration assures that the motion the capsulotomy loop comprising the heating element goes through during deployment from and retraction into the insertion sleeve is minimized and predictable.
Colpotomy systems, devices, and methods with rotational cutting
A colpotomy system includes a colpotomy cup that extends to a distal surface and defines a longitudinal axis. The colpotomy system further includes a cutter operably coupled to the colpotomy cup and configured to travel along an arcuate path defined about the distal surface of the colpotomy cup. The cutter actuatable to separate a uterus from a vagina as the cutter rotates about the longitudinal axis of the colpotomy cup.
Endoscopic treatment tool
An endoscopic treatment tool comprises an elongated sheath and an elongated portion configured to be inserted in the elongated sheath and capable of being movable back and forth in directions. A loop portion is disposed on a distal end of the elongated portion and is constructed of a wire folded to form into a loop. The loop portion includes a first bent portion, a pair of second bent portions, a pair of third bent portions, and a fourth bent portion all of which are integrally formed from a distal end toward a proximal end of the loop portion. A first length that represents a length from the first bent portion to the fourth bent portion in the directions along the longitudinal axis ranges from one and half times to two times a first width that represents a maximum dimension of the loop portion in directions perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.
Lasso Catheter with Balloon
Embodiments of the present invention include a medical apparatus having an insertion tube, a flexible probe, a plurality of electrodes and a balloon. The insertion tube includes a distal end configured for insertion into a body cavity and containing a lumen passing through the insertion tube. The flexible probed is configured to be deployed from the distal end of the insertion tube and to assume an arcuate shape upon deployment within the body cavity. The electrodes are distributed along the probe, and the balloon is configured to have a portion of the balloon surrounded by the arcuate-shaped probe and to be inflated by passage of a fluid through the lumen while the probe is deployed in the body cavity.
Dissection scissors on surgical device
A surgical instrument includes an end effector and a housing mechanically coupled to the end effector. The end effector includes a first actuating device configured to perform a first surgical procedure and a second actuating device integrally associated with the first actuating device and configured to perform a second surgical procedure, the second surgical procedure being independently operable and different than the first surgical procedure. An outer portion of the first actuating device and an outer portion of the second actuating device form a portion of an outer housing of the end effector. The housing includes a first actuator, mechanically coupled to the first actuating device and configured to impart movement to the first actuating device and a second actuator, mechanically coupled to the second actuating device and configured to impart movement to the second actuating device.
ELECTROSURGICAL ACCESS SHEATH
An electrosurgical access catheter for assisting a physician perform an ancillary surgical procedure on a region of interest (ROI) in a patient has a tubular shaped elongate shaft and a ring-shaped active electrode located at the distal end. A passageway extends from the proximal section to the distal end of the shaft, and through the ring-shaped active electrode. The proximal section of the elongate shaft is detachably coupled to an electrosurgical controller such that the ring-shaped active electrode is operable with the electrosurgical controller and a dispersive electrode to electrosurgically make a circular-shaped incision through a tissue wall, carving a cylindrical-shaped tissue plug as the ring-shaped active electrode is advanced through the wall. The access sheath is advanced through the surgically created opening and without further dilation of the opening. The invention has particular applicability to the lung, and minimally invasive bronchoscopic procedures. Related methods are also described.
Resistively heated electrosurgical device
A medical device includes a hand piece, a heating power supply, and a therapy power supply. The hand piece includes a first electrode including a heater. The heating power supply selectively provides heating power to the heater. The therapy power supply selectively provides therapeutic power to the first electrode. The medical device is changeable between operating a first electrosurgical configuration and a second electrosurgical configuration. In the first electrosurgical configuration, the heating power supply provides the heating power to the heater to heat the first electrode and the therapy power supply provides the therapeutic power to the first electrode. A single conductor line carries the heating power to the heater and the therapeutic power to the first electrode.
Devices and methods for left atrial appendage closure
Described here are devices, systems, and methods for closing the left atrial appendage. The methods described here utilize a closure device for closing the left atrial appendage and guides or expandable elements with ablation or abrading elements to ablate or abrade the left atrial appendage. In general, these methods include positioning a balloon at least partially within the atrial appendage, positioning a closure assembly of a closure device around an exterior of the atrial appendage, inflating the balloon, partially closing the closure assembly, ablating the interior tissue of the atrial appendage with the inflated balloon, removing the balloon from the atrial appendage, and closing the atrial appendage with the closure assembly.
