Radio frequency ablation systems
The present invention relates to systems for use for radio frequency ablation. The systems can include one or more of an ablation tool, power source for use with the ablation tool and a backstop for use in conjunction with the ablation tool during surgical procedures. Preferred ablation tools comprise a series of three or more blade-shaped electrodes disposed in a linear, curved, curvilinear or circular array. The backstops are useful for reducing direct physical and thermal heat transfer injuries to the patient or surgeon during procedures using radiofrequency (RF) ablation devices.
APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR MINIMALLY INVASIVE DISSECTION AND MODIFICATION OF TISSUES
Tissue modification instruments. In some embodiments, the instrument may comprise a shaft extending along an axis. A tissue treatment tip may be positioned at a distal end of the shaft. The tissue treatment tip may comprise one or more energy delivery elements configured to deliver tissue-modification energy. The tissue treatment tip may comprise a non-branching tip that extends away from the axis to define a tissue treatment region that is wider than a width of the shaft. The tissue treatment tip may comprise a terminal end, which may be positioned at the distal end of the instrument in some embodiments or may be positioned proximal of the distal end of the instrument.
Devices and methods for performing subcutaneous surgery
Devices and methods for performing subcutaneous surgery in a minimally invasive manner are provided. The methods include application of reduced air pressure in a recessed area of a handpiece placed over a section of skin and drawing the section of skin and subcutaneous tissue into the recessed area. In a subsequent step a tool is inserted through a tool conduit in the handpiece and through the skin into the subcutaneous tissue, enabling the performance of the desired surgery. Common surgical procedures include dissection and ablation. The devices and methods can be directed at the treatment of skin conditions like atrophic scars, wrinkles, or other cosmetic issues, at treatments like or promoting wound healing or preventing hyperhidrosis, or can be used for creating space for various implants.
Deep vein thrombosis therapeutic methods
The invention provides methods for diagnosing and treating deep vein thrombosis and other conditions associated with occluded or constricted vessels. According to certain aspects, methods of the invention involve inserting a sensing device into a vessel having a thrombus therein, assessing, with the sensing device, one or more functional parameters within the vessel, determining an interventional therapy for treating the thrombus based on the assessing step; and performing the interventional therapy.
ELECTROSURGICAL INSTRUMENT WITH COMPLIANT ELASTOMERIC ELECTRODE
A surgical tool for performing telesurgical surgical operations such as cutting, shearing, grasping, engaging, or contacting tissue. The surgical tool comprises a pair of jaws cooperatively rotating open and close about an axis of rotation. The jaws further comprise one or more compliant electrodes electrically communicating with a conductor to deliver electrical energy to tissue engaged by the jaws. The electrodes formed of an elastomeric material impregnated with a conductive material or formed atop an elastomeric material allowing a certain amount of flexibility and thereby maintaining more consistent pressure on the tissue when the jaws engage the tissue.
APPARATUS AND SYSTEMS FOR MINIMALLY INVASIVE DISSECTION OF TISSUES
Lysing surgical instruments and related systems and methods. In some embodiments, the instrument may comprise a lysing tip comprising at least one bead. The at least one bead may comprise an at least substantially electrically non-conductive surface and at least one lysing member defining at least one lysing segment extending within a recess defined, at least in part, by the at least one bead. The at least one bead may also protrude both distally and proximally relative to the at least one lysing member.
Unitary Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting Devices
Unitary endoscopic vessel harvesting devices are disclosed. In some embodiments, such devices may comprise an elongated body having a proximal end and a distal end. A conical tip may be disposed at the distal end of the elongated body. In addition, the surgical instrument may include one or more surgical instruments moveable in a longitudinal direction along an axis substantially parallel to a central longitudinal axis of the cannula from a retracted position proximally of a distal end of the tip to an advanced position toward the distal end of the tip to seal and cut a blood vessel.
Electrocautery hemostasis clip
A device for treating a tissue includes a capsule extending longitudinally from a proximal end to a distal end and including a channel extending therethrough, the capsule releasably coupled to a proximal portion of the device and clip arms, proximal ends of which are slidably received within the channel of the capsule so that the clip arms are movable between an open configuration, and a closed configuration. A core member is coupled to the clip alms, the core member including a proximal portion and a distal portion releasably connected to one another so that, when the core member is subjected to a predetermined load, the proximal and distal portions are separated from one another. An electrically conductive control member is connected to the core member, a proximal end of the connected member connected to a power source for delivering an electrical current to the clip arms.
ENDOSCOPIC RESECTION CAP WITH BUILT-IN OSCILLATING DISSECTOR
A medical device for facilitating a minimally invasive surgical procedure may include a housing and an arm. The housing may be configured for engagement around an outer circumferential surface of an endoscope and may include a first cavity. The arm may include at least one cutting surface and may be movably received within the first cavity. The arm may be configured to perform a first predetermined movement along at least a first plane at a predetermined frequency.
Apparatus and systems for minimally invasive dissection of tissues
Lysing surgical instruments and related systems and methods. In some embodiments, the instrument may comprise a lysing tip comprising a plurality of beads and at least one lysing member defining at least one lysing segment extending between each pair of adjacent beads or between a tip of the instrument and an adjacent bead. Some embodiments may comprise rearward-facing lysing segments to facilitate retrograde lysing movement through patient tissue.
