EXPANDABLE ABLATION DEVICES AND METHODS OF USE
A medical system having a medical tool, including a handle, a shaft extending from the handle and defining a lumen, a wire attached to and extending from the handle through the lumen, expandable elements at a distal end of the wire. An electrical generator is coupled to a proximal end of the wire and supplies a first waveform to the wire and the expandable elements as the expandable elements expand from an unexpanded state to an expanded state within a tissue. The electrical generator supplies a second waveform to the wire and the expandable elements when the expandable elements are in the expanded state within the tissue. The first waveform cuts tissue, the second waveform ablates tissue using radiofrequency ablation or irreversible electroporation.
ELECTRODE DEVICE FOR WRAPPING VESSEL IN THE BODY AND METHOD THEREFOR
An electrode device for wrapping a vessel in the body according to an embodiment of the present invention comprise an electrode part that surrounds the vessel and denervates or modulates at least some nerves of the vessel; and a guide part that guides movement of the electrode part, wherein the electrode part includes: a first layer that is bent in order for the electrode part to be wound around the vessel; a second layer that is placed on the first layer and is bent in order for the electrode part to be wound in close contact with the vessel; an electrode that is placed on the second layer and denervates or modulates at least some nerves of the vessel with energy from an energy source generator.
Vessel sealing with fine dissection function
An electrosurgical forceps includes a first elongated shaft member including a first handle member and a first jaw member having a first tissue contacting surface, and a second elongated shaft member including a second handle member and a second jaw member having a second tissue contacting surface. At least one of the first and second handle members is movable relative to the other between an open position, a first approximated position where the first and second tissue contacting surfaces are diametrically opposed to one another, and a second approximated position where the first and second tissue contacting surfaces are laterally offset from one another. A handle connector assembly is selectively engageable with the second handle member and is configured to selectively communicate electrosurgical energy between the first and second tissue contacting surfaces when the first and second handle members are disposed in the first approximated position.
Electrosurgical forceps
An electrosurgical forceps includes first and second shaft members and first and second jaw members extending distally from the respective first and second shaft members. A pivot couples the first and second shaft members with one another such that the first and second shaft members are movable relative to one another between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position to move the first and second jaw members relative to one another between an open position and a closed position. The jaw members are configured to facilitate tissue treatment, tissue division, and blunt tissue dissection.
DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FACILITATING NERVE ABLATION
An ablation device includes a handle, an elongated body extending distally from the handle, and an end effector assembly selectively deployable relative to the elongated body. The end effector assembly includes a shaft having a curved configuration defining an inside portion and an outside portion. A plurality of electrode tines extends from the inside portion. At least one electrode tine and the shaft are configured to conduct RF energy therebetween and through tissue to treat tissue. Another end effector assembly includes a tongue having a concave side corresponding to an inside portion and a convex side corresponding to an outside portion. A plurality of electrodes is disposed on the concave side of the tongue and an insulating layer is disposed on the convex side of the tongue. At least one electrode and the tongue are configured to conduct RF energy therebetween and through tissue to treat tissue.
Medical instrument electrically energized using drive cables
An electrically energized medical instrument uses one or more drive cables to both actuate mechanical components of a wrist mechanism or an effector and to electrically energize the effector. Electrical isolation can be achieved using an insulating main tube through which drive cables extend from a backend mechanism to the effector, an insulating end cover that leaves only the desired portions of the effector exposed, and one or more seals to prevent electrically conductive liquid from entering the main tube. Component count and cost may be further reduced using a pair of pulleys that are shared by four drive cables.
ACCESS NEEDLE SYSTEMS AND METHODS
An access needle is provided. The access needle includes a needle housing and a needle shaft having a portion disposed within the needle housing. The access needle also includes a lumen within the needle shaft, an entry port at a proximal end of the needle shaft, and a needle tip at a distal end of the needle shaft. The access needle also includes an exit port on a sidewall of the needle shaft, wherein the exit port is disposed nearer the distal end of the needle shaft than the proximal end, and wherein the lumen extends from the entry port to the exit port. A system and a method for using the access needle are also provided.
ABLATION TARGETING NERVES IN OR NEAR THE INFERIOR VENA CAVA AND/OR ABDOMINAL AORTA FOR TREATMENT OF HYPERTENSION
A method for the treatment of a patient for the purpose of lowering blood pressure and/or treating other medical conditions such as cardiac arrhythmias. A catheter having an ablation element is placed inside the body of a patient and is directed to a targeted location either on in the abdominal aorta where the right or left renal arteries branch from the aorta at or near the superior junction or ostia or on the inside of the inferior vena cava near the junction with the right renal vein or in the left renal vein at a position spatially near where the left renal artery branches from the abdominal aorta. Catheters designed for use in the method where these targeted locations are also disclosed and claimed.
