A surgical tool can include an outer tube, an end effector, an inner tube, and a distal plug. The outer tube can extend along a longitudinal axis and the outer tube can include a pair of outer arms. The end effector can be connected to the outer arms. The inner tube can be located within the outer tube and can extend along the longitudinal axis. The inner tube can be connected to the end effector and the inner tube can be translatable along the outer tube to operate the end effector. The distal plug can be securable to the outer tube between the outer arms proximal of the end effector. The distal plug can include a wire routing bore extending therethrough.

Advanced leverage instrument

An instrument including a first arm and a second arm. The first arm includes a first jaw including a first distal end. The second arm includes a second jaw including a second distal end. One of the first jaw and the second jaw includes a first protrusion. When the instrument is moved into a closed configuration, the first distal end and the second distal end make contact, which occurs after the first protrusion and the opposing jaw make contact.

A surgical tool can include a shaft, a pin, an end effector, and a translating member. The shaft can define a longitudinal axis. The pin can be located at a distal portion of the shaft. The end effector can be connected to the shaft. The translating member can be positioned laterally inward of the shaft. The translating member can include a track and the pin can extend into the track to limit translation of the translating member along the longitudinal axis with respect to the end effector.

Articulation joint features for articulating surgical device

An electrosurgical device comprises a body, an end effector, a cutting member, and a shaft. The end effector includes a pair of jaws that are operable to deliver RF energy to tissue that is clamped between the jaws. The cutting member is operable to sever tissue that is clamped between the jaws. The shaft extends between the body and the end effector. The shaft includes an articulation section that is operable to selectively position the end effector at non-parallel positions relative to the longitudinal axis of the shaft. Some versions include a rotation section that is distal to the articulation section. The rotation section is operable to rotate the end effector relative to the articulation section.

MULTI-FUNCTION SURGICAL INSTRUMENT

A surgical instrument includes a housing having a shaft extending distally therefrom, an end effector assembly disposed at a distal end of the shaft, a handle assembly coupled to the housing for manipulating the end effector assembly, a deployable assembly, at least one actuator for deploying and retracting the deployable assembly, and a closure member. The closure member is keyed to the actuator(s) and operably positioned relative to the movable handle of the handle assembly such that, upon rotation of the actuator(s) relative to the housing from an un-actuated position to an actuated position, the closure member is urged into contact with the movable handle to urge the movable handle from an initial position to a compressed position, thereby moving the end effector assembly to an approximated position.

A lever latching system comprising: a housing; a lever having a latch pin fixedly mounted to the lever, the lever being movably mounted to the housing so that the latch pin moves in an arc; and a latch plate movably mounted to the housing for linear movement with respect to the housing, the latch plate comprising a labyrinth for receiving the latch pin.

Forceps with two-part drive bar

A forceps having a first jaw and a second jaw, where at least one of the first and second jaws is capable of moving between an open position and a closed positions. The forceps including an inner shaft located within an outer shaft and extending along the longitudinal axis, and a drive bar coupled to and extending distally from the inner shaft. The drive bar including a pair of drive bar struts extending from a distal portion of the inner shaft and positioned laterally inward of at least one of first and second set of flanges of the first and second jaws. A drive pin is securable to the pair of drive bar struts and the drive bar is translatable within the outer shaft to translate the drive pin to move the first jaw and/or the second jaw between open and closed positions.

TREATMENT DEVICE

A treatment device equipped with high frequency capability has a pair of clasping jaws. The upper and lower jaws are openable-closable and serves as high frequency electrodes to clamp and seal and/or transect tissue. A blade traverses a channel in the upper and lower jaws and is used to open and close the upper and lower jaws. Additional structures and mechanisms contribute to the operation of the upper and lower jaws and add strength to the opening of the clasping jaws, which is useful in the procedure of peeling tissues using the opening movement of the clasping jaws.

A bipolar electrosurgical devices and methods of use for coagulation and ablation of tissue in a fluid-immersed working space is disclosed. The bipolar electrosurgical device can comprise a handle and an elongated shaft coupled to the handle. The bipolar electrosurgical device can further comprise a bipolar electrode arrangement and a return electrode. The bipolar electrode arrangement and the return electrode can be electrically insulated from one another. The bipolar electrosurgical device can further comprise an adjusting member carried by the elongated shaft. Movement of the adjusting member from a first position toward a second position can contemporaneously increase an effective surface area of the active electrode and decrease an effective surface area of the return electrode.

A surgical instrument includes first and second jaw members each having a proximal portion including a flag defining a cam groove having a hemispherical cross-sectional, and a distal portion defining a tissue-contacting surface. A cam drive mechanism includes a drive rod and a drive ball disposed at a distal end portion of the drive rod. The drive ball is captured within the cam grooves between the flags such that translation of the drive rod in a first direction slides the cam ball through the cam grooves to pivot the distal portion of at least one of the first or second jaw members relative to the distal portion of the other of the first or second jaw members towards an approximated position for grasping tissue between the tissue-contacting surfaces of the distal portions of the first and second jaw members.
