The forceps including an inner shaft located within an outer shaft and extending along the longitudinal axis, and a drive bar coupled to and extending distally from the inner shaft. The drive bar including a pair of drive bar struts extending from a distal portion of the inner shaft and positioned laterally inward of at least one of first and second set of flanges of the first and second jaws. A drive pin is securable to the pair of drive bar struts and the drive bar is translatable within the outer shaft to translate the drive pin to move the first jaw and/or the second jaw between open and closed positions.
Combination ultrasonic and electrosurgical instrument and method for sealing tissue in successive phases
An ultrasonic surgical instrument and method of sealing a tissue includes generating a desired burst pressure in the tissue, sealing the tissue, verifying that the tissue is sealed with further application of at least one of the ultrasonic energy and the RF energy. The ultrasonic surgical instrument further includes an end effector having an ultrasonic blade, an RF electrode, and a controller. The controller operatively connects to the ultrasonic blade and the RF electrode and is configured to direct application of ultrasonic and RF energies according to an initial phase, a power phase, and a termination phase for respectively generating a desired burst pressure in the tissue, sealing the tissue, and verifying the sealing of the tissue while inhibiting transection of the tissue.
SURGICAL CLIP APPLIER COMPRISING AN AUTOMATIC CLIP FEEDING SYSTEM
A surgical clip applier is disclosed which is configured to automatically feed a clip from a clip cartridge once the surgical clip applier is positioned in the patient.
ENDOSCOPIC SCISSORS AND ENDOSCOPIC HIGH FREQUENCY TREATMENT TOOL
A pair of endoscopic scissors includes a pair of scissor pieces facing and overlapping, the scissor pieces being pivotally supported by a turning pivot extending in overlapping direction such that the pair is opened and closed and having cutting portions that grips and incises biological tissue, and an operation wire that applies driving force to base end portion sides of the scissor pieces such that opening-closing operation of tip end portions of the scissor pieces is performed. One or more scissor pieces have a tip end portion having a claw that grips the tissue and is protruding in closing direction beyond respective cutting portion, a concave penetrating the respective cutting portion in thickness direction is locally formed in the respective cutting portion, and the respective cutting portion excluding the claw and concave is formed to have a flat and linear shape extending in tip end-base end direction.
Laparoscopic forceps assembly
A laparoscopic forceps comprising a handpiece including a distal end portion; a tubular member protruding from the distal end portion of the handpiece, the tubular member having a distal end, a pair of jaws having legs that are disposed within the tubular member and partially protruding from the distal end of the tubular member, the pair of jaws and the tubular member being movable relative to each other in a direction parallel to a longitudinal axis of the tubular member; wherein each of the pair of jaws has an arcuate section, and the pair of jaws are closable by advancing the tubular member over the arcuate section of the jaws; and an operable mechanism for creating relative motion between the pair of jaws and the tubular member along a direction parallel to the axis of the tubular member, wherein at the distal end portion of the tubular member there is a profile shape that is non-circular.
Saber tooth harvester
A surgical instrument includes a handle assembly, an elongate body, a tool assembly, and an electrical energy source. The handle assembly includes an actuation knob. The elongate body extends distally from the handle assembly and defines a longitudinal axis. In particular, tool assembly is operatively coupled to the handle assembly and extends from a distal end of the elongate body. The tool assembly includes first and second jaw members each including an electrically conductive cutting element. The cutting elements are operatively coupled to the actuation knob. In particular, the cutting elements are movable between a first position in which the cutting elements are disposed within the respective jaw members and a second position in which the cutting elements extend out of the respective jaw members and are in general vertical registration with each other such that electrical energy can be transferred from the first jaw member to the second jaw member.
TREATMENT INSTRUMENT AND TREATMENT SYSTEM
A treatment instrument includes: a first holding surface including a first high frequency electrode portion; a second holding surface configured to hold living tissue cooperatively with the first holding surface and including a second high frequency electrode portion; a blade configured to apply pressure to the living tissue held between the first and second holding surfaces by a projected surface; and a heater which is capable of heating the first holding surface to a second temperature higher than the first temperature and sufficient to incise the living tissue held between the first and second holding surfaces by the blade, upon receipt of energy supplied at the same time as or after energy supply to the first and second high frequency electrode portions.
GRASPING TREATMENT UNIT AND GRASPING TREATMENT INSTRUMENT
In a grasping treatment unit in which a first jaw is openable and closable relative to a second jaw, a frame member is provided in the first jaw. The frame member includes a plate-shaped base portion forming a grasping surface side end face in the frame member, and a column extension extending from the base portion toward a back surface in the frame member and having one end continuous with the base portion. The column extension defines a space in which the frame member is a defining surface between the base portion and the back surface of the first jaw.
Combination ultrasonic and electrosurgical instrument having electrical circuits with shared return path
A surgical instrument includes a shaft, an ultrasonic transducer, a waveguide acoustically coupled with the ultrasonic transducer and extending distally through the shaft, and an end effector arranged at a distal end of the shaft. The end effector includes an ultrasonic blade acoustically coupled with the waveguide, a clamp arm movable relative to the ultrasonic blade for clamping tissue, and an RF electrode operable to seal tissue with RF energy. The ultrasonic transducer is operable to drive the waveguide and the ultrasonic blade with ultrasonic energy. The surgical instrument further includes an ultrasonic electrical circuit operable to energize the ultrasonic transducer, and an RF electrical circuit operable to deliver RF energy to the RF electrode. A return path of the ultrasonic electrical circuit and a return path of the RF electrical circuit pass through a shared electrically conductive element.
