DRIVETRAIN ASSEMBLIES FOR GENERATING POWER TAPPING MOTION USING FLEXURES

Drivetrain assemblies for personal care devices to generate controllable power tapping motion alone or with controllable sweeping motion. The drivetrain assemblies include a drivetrain shaft at least partially contained within a body portion. The drivetrain shaft is further configured to engage a brush head member. Some drivetrain assemblies include a single actuator for generating periodic linear movement, wherein the drivetrain shaft transmits the linear movement to the brush head member via a pivoting motion and/or a translational motion. Other drivetrain assemblies include the actuator for generating periodic linear movement and a motor on the drivetrain shaft to periodically rotate the shaft about a central axis. Still other drivetrain assemblies include a motor to rotate the drivetrain shaft about the central axis, an actuator to generate periodic linear movement, parallel flexible flexures to constrain the periodic linear movement, and parallel substantially rigid translation linkages to transmit the periodic linear movement.

Power toothbrush with multiple bristle motions producing an audible sound

A power toothbrush includes a handle having a driving system therein. The driving system is responsive to two drive signals. One drive signal produces a clinically effective cleansing action for the teeth, while the other drive signal is arranged to produce audible sounds from the toothbrush which are cognitively stimulating or relaxing.

ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSH, AND TRANSMISSION FOR AN ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSH

The transmission according to the invention for an electric toothbrush serves for the transmission and reforming of a rotational movement provided by an electric motor into a particularly careful and effective cleaning movement of a cleaning element. The ratio of the distance between the longitudinal mid-axis of an output shaft and the longitudinal mid-axis of a drive shaft of the transmission and of the distance between the longitudinal mid-axis of a shaft driving a cam of the transmission and the longitudinal mid-axis of the cam amounts to at least 10:1.

TOOTHBRUSH COMPRISING ASYMMETRICALLY ORIENTED TUFTS OF BRISTLES

A toothbrush includes a handle and a bristle-carrying head part, which are connected to each other by a neck part, the head part having a multiplicity of tufts of bristles consisting of bristles. An anchor is oriented at right angles to the longitudinal axis. Two or more tufts of bristles have a bristle tuft half with bristle ends standing up higher in relation to the bristle ends of the other bristle tuft half.

Embodiments of the present invention comprise a powered toothbrush comprising a bristle head, an outer gear, and a plurality of bristles. Both the bristle head and the outer gear may comprise a distal end, a proximal end, and a center. The distal end of the bristle head may mate with the proximal end of the outer gear. The outer gear may rotate about a first axis of rotation. The mating between the bristle head and the outer gear may cause the bristle head to orbit the first axis of rotation via one or more bristle paths while simultaneously completing one or more rotary movements about a second axis of rotation, which may move along the bristle paths with the bristle head.

BRUSHES USEFUL FOR CLEANING TEETH AND INTERDENTAL SPACES

An interdental cleaning member includes a brush having a plurality of bristles, each of the plurality of bristles comprising a bristle shaft, the bristle shaft extending from a shaft base to a shaft tip, and formed to have a thickness and resiliency configured to clean interdental areas and areas interposing a tooth and gum tissue surrounding the tooth.

DRIVE SYSTEM FOR PERSONAL-CARE APPLIANCE AND METHOD OF OPERATION THEREOF

A power toothbrush apparatus may include a body having a cavity and an opening leading to the cavity. An electric motor may be situated within the cavity and may include first and second biasing members; a stator casing situated between, and linearly biased by, the first and second biasing members, the stator casing may further include at least one opening and at least one electromagnet to generate a magnetic field; and a rotor which may have opposed ends and which may extend through the at least one opening of the stator casing, the rotor may further include an output shaft. The power toothbrush may further include a workpiece having a brush head coupled thereto and which may be coupled to one of the opposed ends of the output shaft.

Personal Care Products And Methods

In one embodiment, an oral-care system is provided. The oral-care system includes an electric toothbrush having a motor, a power source in electrical communication with the motor, and a bristle holder operatively connected to the motor. A display is in data communication with the electric toothbrush.

Bristle driven pulsation

An electric toothbrush having bristle driven pulsation includes a brush head having a bristle holder and bristle tufts attached to the bristle holder. The bristle tufts and corresponding bristles are disposed at a perpendicular and/or a non-perpendicular angle with respect to a mounting surface of the brush head. The electric toothbrush also includes an electric toothbrush handle removably attached to the brush head. The electric toothbrush handle includes a linear motor configured to drive the bristle holder via a gearing structure coupled to the linear motor and the bristle holder. The linear motor causes the bristle holder to rotate clockwise and counterclockwise at a rotation frequency which exceeds a rotation frequency threshold (e.g., 100 Hz, 120 Hz, etc.). The linear motor also causes the brush head to vibrate in a direction toward and away from a contact surface in synchronization with the rotation of the bristles.
