Method of treating a defective heart valve
A method of treating a defective heart valve includes inserting a delivery catheter through a small incision in a patient's groin, wherein the delivery catheter has a prosthetic device positioned along a distal end. The prosthetic device includes an insert member and an anchoring member. The insert member is positioned between the native heart valve and is allowed to self-expand. The anchoring member is preferably a stent connected to the insert member by at least one elongate member. The stent is deployed within an adjacent blood vessel for anchoring the insert member between the native leaflets. After deployment of the prosthetic device, the native leaflets of the heart valve form a tight seal against the insert member for preventing regurgitation through the native heart valve during ventricular systole.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SECURING TISSUE TO BONE
Disclosed herein are methods and devices for securing soft tissue to a rigid material such as bone. A tissue anchoring device is described that comprises an anchor body and a spreader such that tissue may be captured or compressed between outside surfaces on the anchor and inside surfaces of a bone tunnel to secure the tissue within the tunnel. Methods are described that enable use of the bone anchoring device to secure a tissue graft into the tibial and femoral bones during anterior cruciate ligament (“ACL”) reconstruction.
TISSUE CAPTURING BONE ANCHOR
A bone anchor configured for use in anchoring an implanting portion to an anchor point. A bone anchor can be of particular use in anchoring soft tissue to a bone. A bone anchor can have a wire loop and a suture. The wire loop of the bone anchor can be configured to capture a suture and to pull a portion of the suture through a hole in the anchor body aiding in anchoring an item, such as tissue to a bone. Transosseous suture anchor
A suture anchor may include an anchor body having an exterior surface, a proximal end, a distal end, a longitudinal axis extending between the proximal and distal end, an interior longitudinal passageway extending at least partway from the proximal end toward the distal end, a proximal opening communicating with the longitudinal passageway nearer the proximal end, and a plurality of distal openings communicating with the longitudinal passageway nearer the distal end. The suture anchor may also include a suture routed through the plurality of distal openings, with a first portion extending within the longitudinal passageway between the proximal opening and the distal opening, a second portion, contiguous to the first portion, extending out of the anchor body, a third portion, contiguous to the second portion, extending within the longitudinal passageway proximally to distally, and a fourth portion, contiguous to the third portion, extending along the exterior surface distally to proximally.
Apparatus and method for repair of disruptions between bones
An apparatus and method for the repair of disruptions between bones. The apparatus defines a combination of sleeves, strands and crimps are provided to secure the bones, using a dual sided drill guide to prepare the bones for installation of the apparatus, which is adjusted upon installation to suit the appropriate alignment and tension of the apparatus. The method includes the preparation of the bones, the installation of the apparatus and the adjustment of the apparatus to properly align and tension the apparatus for repair of the bone.
Tenodesis implants and tools
Methods and devices are provided for anchoring a ligament or tendon to bone. In one embodiment, a biceps tenodesis system is provided and includes a sheath inserter tool, an expandable sheath configured to couple to the sheath inserter tool, an expander inserter tool, and an expander configured to couple to the expander inserter tool. The sheath inserter tool is configured to advance the expandable sheath, with a tendon disposed therearound, into a bone hole, and the expander inserter tool is configured to advance the expander through an outer shaft of the sheath inserter tool and to drive the expander into the sheath. The expander is configured to be received within a lumen extending at least partially through the expandable sheath to thereby expand the sheath. In this way, the system delivers the tendon or ligament into the bone hole and locks the sheath and tendon within the bone hole.
Tenodesis anchoring systems and tools
Systems and tools are provided for anchoring a ligament or tendon to bone. In one embodiment, a sheath is provided having a first sidewall with proximal and distal ends and a second sidewall with proximal and distal ends. The distal ends of the first and second sidewalls can be coupled to one another by a hinge pin such that the first and second sidewalls pivot relative to one another about the hinge pin. A sheath inserter tool is also provided and it can be configured to couple to the sheath and to advance the expandable sheath, with a tendon disposed therearound, into a bone hole. An expander is also provided for expanding the sheath. In this way, a tendon or ligament is delivered into the bone hole and the sheath and tendon are locked within the bone hole.
Flexible tibial sheath
A radially expandable sheath is provided having a substantially closed distal end with at least two sidewalls extending proximally therefrom and defining a central lumen. Each sidewall can have a substantially concave outer surface adapted to seat a graft member, and each side wall is at least partially separated by a longitudinally oriented slot that extends from a proximal end along a substantial length of each sidewall. The slot preferably terminates at a position just proximal to the distal end. The device can also include a sheath expander that is adapted to be disposed in the central lumen of the radially expandable sheath and that is configured to flex the sidewalls to radially expand the sheath so as to fix a graft member within a bone tunnel.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SECURING TISSUE TO BONE
Disclosed herein are methods and devices for securing soft tissue to a rigid material such as bone. A tissue capture anchor is described that includes an anchor body and a spreader such that tissue may be captured or compressed between outside surfaces on the anchor and spreader and inside surfaces of a bone hole to secure the tissue within the hole. A bone anchor is described that includes an anchor body with expandable tines and a spreader that expands the tines into bone. The spreader captures tissue via a suture loop at the distal end of the bone anchor. Also described is an inserter that can be used to insert the anchor into bone and move the spreader within the anchor to expand the anchor and capture the tissue between the anchor and the bone. Methods are described that allow the use of bone anchors to secure tissue to bone.
