Accommodating intraocular (AIOL) assemblies for enabling post implantation in situ manual selective displacement of an AIOL along a human eye's visual axis relative to stationary anchor points. Axial displacement may be over a continuous range or alternatively at discrete axial stopping positions typically from about 100 ?m to about 300 ?m apart. Novels AIOLs designed to be at least partially folded for facilitating insertion into a human eye through a relatively small incision.

The present invention is an accommodative multifocal intraocular lens including an optical body, a haptic and a silicone connecting member, wherein the silicone connecting member is located between the optical body and the haptic, and combines the optical body and the haptic in an inserted manner through concave and convex grooves; two ends of the optical body are provided with concave grooves; an end, joined to the optical body, of the haptic is provided with a concave groove; two ends, along the width direction, of the silicone connecting member are provided with convex grooves, respectively, that is, a convex groove and a convex groove, respectively. The optical body in the present invention is a multi-focal optical zone, and the back-and-forth movement of the optical zone can effectively increase the change of the focal power of the multifocal lens.

ACCOMMODATING INTRAOCULAR LENS DEVICE

An accommodating intraocular lens (IOL) can be implanted either alone or as part of a two-part lens assembly. The IOL comprises an optic, a flexible membrane and a peripheral edge coupling the optic and the flexible membrane. The peripheral edge comprises an external circumferential surface having a height and a force transmitting area defined along a portion of the height of the external circumferential surface. A closed volume spaces apart the optic and the flexible membrane. The optic is axially displaced and the flexible membrane changes in curvature about a central axis when a radial compressive force is applied to the force transmitting area. A volume defined by the closed volume remains fixed when the optic is axially displaced and the flexible membrane changes in curvature and/or when the radial compressive force is applied to the force transmitting area.

INTRAOCULAR DEVICES AND METHODS FOR CORRECTION OF APHAKIA, RESTORATION OF ACCOMMODATION, AND TREATMENT OF GLAUCOMA

A device according to the present disclosure comprises an intraocular prosthetic. In some embodiments, the device comprises a lens portion and a plurality of arms that radiate outward from the lens portion. The lens portion can comprise a central ring used to hold an intraocular lens. Each arm can comprise a foot plate which allows the device to push out distally against a ciliary body. Among other things, an intraocular device according to the present disclosure can be useful in correction of aphakia, restoration of accommodation, and treatment of glaucoma.

An accommodating intraocular lens (IOL) comprises an anterior lens, a posterior surface and an articulating member joining the anterior lens and the posterior surface to define an enclosed cavity. The articulating member comprises anterior and posterior arms coupling the anterior lens and the posterior surface, respectively. The articulating member further comprising a peripheral portion. A posterior flex region is disposed about the posterior arm and at a distance from the peripheral portion. The posterior flex region permits the flexible posterior surface to articulate relative to the posterior arm, to decrease the radius of curvature of the posterior surface as the peripheral portions on opposing sides of the IOL move toward one another in a first state and to increase the radius of curvature of the posterior surface as the peripheral portions on opposite sides of the IOL move away from one another in a second state.

DIFFRACTIVE INTRAOCULAR LENSES FOR EXTENDED RANGE OF VISION

Apparatuses, systems and methods for providing improved ophthalmic lenses, particularly intraocular lenses (IOLs). Exemplary diffractive intraocular implants (IOLs) can include a diffractive profile having multiple diffractive zones. The diffractive zones can include a central zone that includes one or more echelettes and a peripheral zone beyond the central zone having one or more peripheral echelettes. The central diffractive zone can work in a higher diffractive order than a remainder of the diffractive profile. The combination of the central and peripheral zones and an optional intermediate zone provides a longer depth of focus than a diffractive profile defined just by a peripheral and/or optional intermediate zone.
