DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CORRECTING SPINAL DEFORMITIES IN PATIENTS

Devices and related methods for the dynamic correction of spinal deformities are disclosed. The devices and methods are particularly useful for correcting an abnormal curvature of the spine. In one exemplary embodiment, a method for correcting deformity via a spinal implant that can include a polymer between or attached to a top and bottom plate, which can exist in a wedge-shaped configuration in order to apply asymmetric forces to the spinal column, is provided. The implant may be inserted between adjacent vertebrae comprising part of the abnormal curvature, thereby restoring the normal curvature of a spine.

The present disclosure relates to an implant for insertion into an intervertebral space between a first vertebral member and a second vertebral member subsequent to a removal of a third vertebral member between the first vertebral member and the second vertebral member, the implant includes a first end, a second end and an implant body. The first end is to be secured to the first vertebral member. The second end is to be secured to the second vertebral member. The implant body is between the first end and the second end, wherein the implant body provides relative motion between the first end and second end.

HIP JOINT DEVICE, SYSTEM AND METHOD

An implantable medical device for implantation in a hip joint is provided. The medical device comprises: at least one artificial hip joint surface adapted to replace at least the surface of at least one of the caput femur and acetabulum. At least one artificial hip joint surface comprises: a positioning hole with at least one opening in said at least one artificial hip joint surface. The hole is adapted to be placed and dimensioned such that the medical device is adapted to be fitted using a positioning shaft and at least partly surround the shaft, for positioning the at least one artificial hip joint surface in a desired position in the hip joint. The hole is adapted to be fitted using the positioning shaft, when the shaft is stabilized and placed in at least one of the femoral bone and the pelvic bone for positioning said medical device inside the hip joint.

ELASTIC BIORESORBABLE ENCASEMENT FOR IMPLANTS

Disclosed herein are elastic, bioresorbable encasements for medical implants, methods for making the same and uses thereof.

Nuclear implant apparatus and method following partial nuclectomy

An expandable implant for augmenting a damaged or otherwise torn posterior annulus fibrosus. The implant is deployable into an evacuated posterior disc space following a subtotal nuclectomy. The implant includes an inflatable balloon which is fixed to the annulus fibrosus to protect against migration. When inflated with a curable polymer, the posterior wall of the implant is intimately disposed along the inner surface of the annulus fibrosus to provide a substantially fluid-tight seal of the annular tear or defect and reinforce the weakened posterior annulus. The anterior wall of the implant sequesters the nuclear remnant to guard against disc remnant herniation. The implant can restore intradiscal pressure and disc height. An integrated posterior reinforcement band creates a strong, yet flexible and resilient structure, resistant to penetration of the implant through the annular tear or defect.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TREATMENT OF INTERVERTEBRAL DISC DERANGEMENTS
20200000603 · 2020-01-02 ·

Various embodiments provide systems and methods for repairing or replacing intervertebral discs as a treatment for derangements. Systems and methods may comprise an inter vertebral disc implant for deployment into an intervertebral disc space wherein the nucleus has been at least partially evacuated from the deranged intervertebral disc. The intervertebral disc implant may be intraoperatively and postoperatively filled and/or re-filled with a growth matrix. The intervertebral disc implant may be differentially permeable to the growth matrix to provide directional growth and/or diffusion of the growth matrix to restore height to the intervertebral disc space. Systems and methods may further comprise an implant delivery device for deploying the intervertebral disc implant into the intervertebral disc space.

Systems and Methods to Account for Bone Quality to Reduce Stress Shielding in Implants

Systems and methods are provided for implant design and manufacturing to address stress shielding and/or implant fixation. The implant design and methodology may include accounting for the anatomy and quality of a bone of a subject to address stress shielding and/or implant fixation considerations for the subject. Implants or components may be asymmetrically designed to better match the associated anatomy as well as decrease stress shielding or improve implant fixation, such as by quantifying bone quality and matching properties of the implant or coatings of the implant to optimize engagement between the implant and the highest quality bone. Information derived from the methodology can be used to guide the design of the implant resulting in an asymmetric design that minimizes or eliminates stress shielding or improves implant fixation.

Spinal implant having a compressible insert

A spinal implant for insertion into and positioning in an intervertebral space is provided. The insert comprises a compressible support configured to change the height of the insert, wherein the insert comprises a first portion having a first surface and a compressible support adjacent to the first surface; and a second portion having a second surface and a second compressible support adjacent to the second surface. A method for fusing two adjacent vertebrae utilizing the spinal implant including the bone insert is also provided.

Prosthetic Intervertebral Discs

A prosthetic intervertebral disc and methods for using the same are provided. The subject prosthetic discs are characterized by including top and bottom endplates separated by a fibrous compressible element that includes an annular region and a nuclear region. The two plates are held together at least one fiber wound around at least one region of the top endplate and at least one region of the bottom endplate. The subject discs may be employed with separate vertebral body fixation elements, or they may include integrated vertebral body fixation elements. Also provided are kits and systems that include the subject prosthetic discs.
