INTERVERTEBRAL IMPLANT AND INSERTION DEVICE THEREFOR
An intervertebral implant includes a body with a first face, a second face connected to the first face, and an axis of rotation. The body defines a hollow space for connecting to an insertion device, the hollow space being accessible through an opening formed between the first and second faces. The opening is elongate and extends around the axis of rotation to facilitate pivoting of the implant relative to the insertion device about the axis of rotation to a first angular position and a second angular position. The implant further includes a first abutment surface that engages the insertion device in a form-fit manner at the first angular position, and a second abutment surface that engages the insertion device in a form-fit manner at the second angular position. The opening can also engage the insertion device to hold the implant at at least one additional angular position.
MODULAR CAGE SYSTEM
Disclosed are devices for the fixation and support of vertebrae, particularly spinal implant devices formed from modular components of different materials.
CONTINUOUS COMPRESSION FIXATION DEVICE FOR THE FUSION OF AN INTERCALARY STRUCTURAL AUGMENT
A method is disclosed for providing a continuous compression fixation device for coupling a first bony structure to a second bony structure. The method can include providing a body structure and providing a plurality of arm structures coupled to and extending from the body structure. The method can include deflecting the tips of the at least one of the plurality of arm structures and the at least one opposed one of the plurality of arm structures away; coupling the at least one of the plurality of arm structures to the first bony structure and the at least one opposed one of the plurality of arm structures to the second bony structure; and releasing the tips of the at least one of the plurality of arm structures and the at least one opposed one of the plurality of arm structures to provide the compressive force.
Annular assistance device
The present invention relates to a discal annular assistance device and the surgical instruments necessary for the insertion and removal thereof. This new device assists the annulus fibrosus following the exeresis of the nucleus pulposus of a lumbar intervertebral disc, to stop accelerated progression towards the discoligamentous instability of a vertebral unit operated on for a nucleus pulposus hernia.
PEDICLE-BASED INTRADISCAL FIXATION DEVICES AND METHODS
Pedicle-based intradiscal fixation devices, systems, instruments, and methods thereof. The implant or a portion thereof may be composed of a shape-memory material, which has a curved shape-memory orientation and a temporarily straight orientation. The implant may be configured to be inserted into a pedicle of an inferior vertebra, through the vertebral body of the inferior vertebra, and into the vertebral body of the superior vertebra to thereby stabilize the inferior and superior vertebrae.
INTRADISCAL FIXATION SYSTEMS
Intradiscal implants, systems, and methods thereof. The intradiscal system may include an expandable implant and one or more intradiscal implants. The intradiscal implants may be supplemental to or integrated with the expandable implant. The intradiscal implant may include one or more flexible anchors with a straight configuration and a curved configuration. The anchor may be bendable, for example, using a shape-memory material.
Intervertebral implant
An adjustable spinal fusion intervertebral implant is provided that can comprise upper and lower body portions that can each have proximal and distal wedge surf aces disposed at proximal and distal ends thereof. An actuator shaft disposed intermediate the upper and lower body portions can be actuated to cause proximal and distal protrusions to converge towards each other and contact the respective ones of the proximal and distal wedge surfaces. Such contact can thereby transfer the longitudinal movement of the proximal and distal protrusions against the proximal and distal wedge surfaces to cause the separation of the upper and lower body portions, thereby expanding the intervertebral implant. The upper and lower body portions can have side portions that help facilitate linear translational movement of the upper body portion relative to the lower body portion.
SURFACE TREATED MEDICAL IMPLANT DEVICES
A surgical implant having a surface treatment which contains primary cavities and secondary cavities. The primary cavities are larger than the secondary cavities and the primary cavities have an average length ranging from 20-500 micrometers. The surface treatment includes recasted material adjacent to a plurality of the primary cavities.
Artificial intervertebral discs
Artificial intervertebral discs include an annulus fibrosus portion and a nucleus pulposus portion. Annulus fibrosus portions disclosed and contemplated herein include a plurality of layers. Fibers within the layers are arranged to provide a crisscross pattern between adjacent layers. Nucleus pulposus portions disclosed and contemplated herein can include a flexible, sealed enclosure.
ARTHROPLASTY IMPLANT SYSTEMS FOR GENERATING AND APPLYING DYNAMIC COMPRESSION
Arthroplasty implant systems and procedures are disclosed herein. In an embodiment, an arthroplasty implant of an arthroplasty system includes a shape memory material connecting member attached to two points of fixation of the arthroplasty implant.
