AUGMENTATION DEVICE
The invention relates to an augmentation device comprising an annular cone surrounding a channel which extends axially along a longitudinal axis of the augmentation device from a proximal cone end to a distal cone end, wherein an outer diameter of the cone decreases from the proximal cone end in the direction of the distal cone end.
INTERVERTEBRAL SPACER THAT DYNAMICALLY PROMOTES BONE GROWTH
A dynamic intervertebral spacer includes a ring which is split on an anterior portion. A posterior portion of the ring acts as a torsion spring. After implantation, the ring is able to act as a spring between superior and inferior vertebral bodies, thus allowing dynamic bone growth in fusion procedures.
INTERVERTEBRAL CAGE FOR FUSION
An intervertebral fusion mechanism includes a disc cage having a scaffolding structure to support bone growth and a porous cancellous bone feeder anchor, connected to the disc cage, for providing a biological material transference interface between cancellous bone and the disc cage.
Hip Joint Method
A method of treating a hip joint of a human patient using a pelvic drill comprising a driving member, a bone contacting and an operating device for operating said driving member. The method comprise the steps of creating a hole passing through the pelvic bone and into the hip joint of the human patient, and providing at least one hip joint surface to the hip joint, through said hole in the pelvic bone of the human patient. In one embodiment the method includes inserting a needle or tube like instrument into the patient's body for filling a part of the patient's body with gas and thereby expanding a cavity within the body.
Implant With Structural Members Arranged Around A Ring
An implant may include a body including a ring, the ring further defining an opening, and the body defining a transverse plane dividing the implant into a superior half and an inferior half. The ring may also define a radial direction and a circumferential direction. The implant may further include a first outer member attached to the ring, wherein the first outer member extends radially from the ring, wherein the first outer member defines one or more arches, and wherein the ring further defines a central channel extending through the implant.
Guides and instruments for improving accuracy of glenoid implant placement
A patient specific shoulder guide is provided that includes a plurality of peripheral members coupled with a peripheral body. The peripheral members have a patient specific contact surface. An open space (e.g., a single open space) is or can be provided radially between a central channel and an inner periphery of the peripheral body. The open space(s) can extend from a side of a spoke to another side of the same or a different spoke. The spoke can be a single spoke in some embodiments. The single open space can extend more than 120 degrees between circumferential ends of the open space.
Mechanically coupled revision hip system and method
An acetabular hip implant includes a plurality of rings secured to an acetabular shell component. A method of fabricating a customized, patient-specific version of such an implant is also disclosed.
Hip joint method
An implantable medical device for implantation in a hip joint of a human patient is provided. The medical device comprises: at least one artificial hip joint surface adapted to replace at least the surface of at least one of the caput femur and acetabulum. At least one artificial hip joint surface comprises: a positioning hole with at least one opening in said at least one artificial hip joint surface. The hole is adapted to be placed and dimensioned such that the medical device is adapted to be fitted using a positioning shaft and at least partly surround the shaft, for positioning the at least one artificial hip joint surface in a desired position in the hip joint. The hole is adapted to be fitted using the positioning shaft, when the shaft is stabilized and placed in at least one of the femoral bone and the pelvic bone for positioning said medical device inside the hip joint.
Implant with structural members arranged around a ring
An implant for use in a spine includes a body and a plurality of structural members. The superior and inferior surfaces each include a ring and structural members arranged in a web-like pattern around the ring. Bone contacting members are arranged radially away from the ring and support members are arranged in a circumferential direction around the ring.
INTERPOSITION IMPLANTS FOR THE HAND
An implant that couples a first bone and a second bone includes a body that defines a first joint surface, a second joint surface, and a median plane. The first joint surface includes a first central region that articulates with the first bone. The second joint surface includes a second central region that articulates with the second bone, and the second central region is disposed on an opposite side of the median plane of the body relative to the first central region. The first and second central regions correspond to profiles of first and second axial segments, respectively, the first and second axial segments are each one of a cylinder, a cone, and a torus and are centered on first and second axes, respectively, and the first and second axes, as projected on the median plane, are substantially perpendicular to each other. The first joint surface further defines a first peripheral region adjacent the first central region and the first axial segment has a first cross section that has a smaller curvature in the first central region of the first joint surface than in the first peripheral region of the first joint surface.
