Hip joint device, system and method
An implantable medical device for implantation in a hip joint is provided. The medical device comprises: at least one artificial hip joint surface adapted to replace at least the surface of at least one of the caput femur and acetabulum. At least one artificial hip joint surface comprises: a positioning hole with at least one opening in said at least one artificial hip joint surface. The hole is adapted to be placed and dimensioned such that the medical device is adapted to be fitted using a positioning shaft and at least partly surround the shaft, for positioning the at least one artificial hip joint surface in a desired position in the hip joint. The hole is adapted to be fitted using the positioning shaft, when the shaft is stabilized and placed in at least one of the femoral bone and the pelvic bone for positioning said medical device inside the hip joint.
IMPLANT FOR USE IN A WEAR COUPLE INCLUDING A SPHERICAL WEAR PARTNER
The invention describes an implant for wear couples in endoprosthetics, the implant having an outer side, with an outer face, and an inner side, and a hemispherical wear region for accommodating a spherical wear partner being formed on the inner side. The aim of the invention is to reduce the height of the implant as much as possible and to ensure that, e.g., the pelvic bone does not have to be milled down as much. According to the invention, the implant is therefore designed in the form of a ring or annular structure and the outer face permits direct implantation in the body. In order to reduce friction between the spherical wear partner and the implant to a minimum, the implant has a specially designed inner geometry.
INSERT FOR USE IN A WEAR COUPLE INCLUDING A SPHERICAL WEAR PARTNER
The invention describes an implant for wear couples in endoprosthetics, comprising at least one shell, into which an insert, preferably a ceramic insert, is introduced. The insert has an outer side, with an outer face, and an inner side, and a hemispherical wear region for accommodating a spherical wear partner being formed on the inner side. The aim of the invention is to reduce the height of the implant as much as possible and to ensure that, e.g., the pelvic bone does not have to be milled down as much. According to the invention, the insert is therefore designed in the form of a ring or annular structure. In order to reduce friction between the spherical wear partner and the implant to a minimum, the implant has a specially designed inner geometry.
GUIDES AND INSTRUMENTS FOR IMPROVING ACCURACY OF GLENOID IMPLANT PLACEMENT
A patient specific shoulder guide is provided that includes a plurality of peripheral members coupled with a peripheral body. The peripheral members have a patient specific contact surface. An open space (e.g., a single open space) is or can be provided radially between a central channel and an inner periphery of the peripheral body. The open space(s) can extend from a side of a spoke to another side of the same or a different spoke. The spoke can be a single spoke in some embodiments. The single open space can extend more than 120 degrees between circumferential ends of the open space.
In-situ formed intervertebral fusion device and method
An orthopedic device for implanting between adjacent vertebrae comprising: an arcuate balloon and a hardenable material within said balloon. In some embodiments, the balloon has a footprint that substantially corresponds to a perimeter of a vertebral endplate. An inflatable device is inserted through a cannula into an intervertebral space and oriented so that, upon expansion, a natural angle between vertebrae will be at least partially restored. At least one component selected from the group consisting of a load-bearing component and an osteobiologic component is directed into the inflatable device through a fluid communication means.
Medical product and medical kit for use when treating a bone cavity, in particular for use when filling and/or closing a bone cavity
A medical product, preferably for use in treating, in particular filling and/or closing a bone cavity, wherein the product comprises a plurality of interconnected members, wherein each member has a peripheral boundary and the boundaries of adjacent members engage with one another. And a method for producing a medical product, preferably for use in treating, in particular filling and/or closing a bone cavity, wherein the product comprises a plurality of interconnected members, wherein each member has a peripheral boundary and the boundaries of adjacent members engage with one another.
SPINAL DISC REPLACEMENTS AND METHODS OF MAKING THEREOF
A spine disc replacement composition, biocompatible support structure, and methods of fabricating the spine disc replacement and biocompatible support structure are provided. The spine disc replacement composition includes the biocompatible support structure that includes one or more of an annular ring, a first plate, or second plate of a biocompatible material and a tissue-engineered construct that includes a bio ink, where the annular ring includes an inner surface, an outer surface, a first planar surface, and a second planar surface, and the biocompatible material is present in an amount of about 1% to about 100% by weight of the biocompatible support structure.
Total shoulder prosthesis having inset glenoid implant convertible from anatomic to reverse
Disclosed are prosthesis systems and methods that provide ways by which the articulating surfaces of the implant can be exchanged such that the anatomic surfaces can be converted to reverse surfaces, while not exchanging the fixation components. Also disclosed herein are methods by which the surgeon can implant an inset anatomic articulating glenoid implant whereby at a later date, can remove the anatomic articulating surface and replace it with a reverse articulating surface such that the primary means of fixation remains well fixed in the glenoid fossa at the moment of articular exchange.
HIP JOINT DEVICE AND METHOD
A medical device for treating hip joint osteoarthritis by providing a joint surface is provided. The medical device comprises at least two artificial hip joint surface parts, wherein said at least two artificial hip joint surface parts are adapted to be connected to each other to form an artificial hip joint surface during an operation. Furthermore a method of treating a hip joint of a human patient by providing said the medical device is provided. The hip joint comprising a caput femur and an acetabulum, the method comprises the steps of: cutting the skin of said human patient, dissecting an area of the pelvic bone on the opposite side from said acetabulum, creating a hole in said dissected area, said hole passing through said pelvic bone and into said hip joint of said human patient, and providing said medical device to said hip joint, through said hole in said pelvic bone of said human patient.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ORTHOPEDIC IMPLANT
A tibial implant may include a plurality of implant subunits. The implant subunits may be configured for individual insertion within a wedge-shaped-void of the tibia. The implant subunits may further be configured for assembly in order to provide an implant substantially covering an exposed portion of cortical bone formed when performing a surgical osteotomy. Methods and kits for insertion and assembly of implants are further described.
