Hip Joint Device
A medical device for fixation in a femoral bone of a patient is provided, the medical device comprises: a connecting portion adapted to be connected to a prosthetic hip joint contacting portion, an expanding portion, and a bone contacting surface on the expanding portion. The expanding portion could be adapted to be at least partially inserted into the femoral bone of a patient and to expand within the femoral bone, such that the bone contacting surface is placed in contact with the inside of the femoral bone for fixating the medical device to the femoral bone. By the fixation using an expanding portion a sturdy fixation is achieved without the need to go into or penetrate bone, or the need for fixation using bone cement.
TOOLING FOR CREATING TAPERED OPENING IN TISSUE AND RELATED METHODS
According to some embodiments, a tool for creating a wedge opening within a bone tissue is disclosed. The tool includes an outer member, a cutting member, and an inner member. The inner member moves within the inner passage of the cutting member where when the inner member is moved within the inner passage of the cutting member, the at least one cutter radially expands at an angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the tool.
Ankle prosthesis and methods of using the same
The present disclosure pertains to ankle prostheses. In an example embodiment, the ankle prosthesis comprises an adjustable and replaceable intermediate implant that is disposed between a tibial implant and a talar implant. The intermediate implant is adjustable relative to the tibial implant and can be interlocked therewith once adjusted. Methods of using, fitting, and adjusting the device are also described. Still other embodiments are described.
Interbody spinal fusion implant with support struts
An interbody spinal fusion implant includes a top wall, a bottom wall that is spaced apart from the top wall so that a cavity is formed therebetween, and a sidewall extending between the top wall and the bottom wall. At least a portion of the sidewall includes: a row of a plurality of spaced apart outer struts extending between the top wall and the bottom wall, and a row of a plurality of spaced apart inner struts extending between the top wall and the bottom wall, the row of inner struts being set back a distance from the row of outer struts toward the cavity.
Femoral hip joint spacer with irrigation device
A femoral hip joint spacer. The spacer has a prosthesis body with a ball head, a neck, a stem and an anchoring sleeve which encloses the stem on a proximal side of the stem with a circumferential fastening area, irrigation liquid inlet and outlet openings in the body surface, at least one irrigation liquid discharge opening on a distal side of the stem and at least one irrigation liquid intake opening on the ball head or on the neck. The discharge opening is connected in a liquid-permeable manner to the inlet opening but not to the outlet opening and the intake opening is connected inside the prosthesis body in a liquid-permeable manner to the outlet opening but not to the inlet opening. A cavity open on two sides is formed inside the anchoring sleeve and connects a proximal side to a distal side of the sleeve in a liquid-permeable manner.
HIP JOINT METHOD
The invention relates to a method for treating hip joint osteoarthritis with a medical device having a prosthetic part adapted to function as an articulating surface comprising a center axis generally coinciding with the acetabulum and the caput femur center axis when implanted. The method further comprises placing the prosthetic part in a through-going hole in the pelvic bone from the side opposite a concave portion of the acetabulum of the human patient, displacing at least one displaceable protruding supporting member connected to said prosthetic part such that the at least one displaceable protruding supporting member is configured to transfer load from the prosthetic part via the displaceable connection to the pelvic bone when being displaced relative said prosthetic part in a direction more perpendicular than parallel to the prosthetic part's center axis and being implanted.
QUICK CONNECT THREAD LOCKING MECHANISM AND CAM
Disclosed herein are a system and method for attaching an implant, such as an acetabular cup, to an adapter connector without requiring rotation of the connector or the implant, to allow for easy connection, manipulation, and insertion of the implant into a patient. An adapter connector or adapter inserter can include a collet and a collet spreader. The collet can include an exterior surface and an interior surface. The exterior surface can define a protuberance sized to engage an indentation in an adapter. The interior surface can define a collet cavity. The collet spreader can be located at least partially within the collet cavity. The collet spreader can include a flared surface and an engagement surface. The flared surface can be located at a first end of the collet spreader and arranged to engage the interior surface of the collet so as to cause the collet to expand.
Tooling for creating tapered opening in tissue and related methods
According to some embodiments, a method of creating for creating a reverse tapered opening within tissue comprises creating a cylindrical opening within a targeted anatomical site of a subject using a first device and removing additional tissue from the sidewalls of the cylindrical opening using a cutting member to create a reverse tapered opening within the targeted anatomical site using a second device, wherein, once the reverse tapered opening is created, a diameter or other cross-sectional dimension of a bottom surface of the opening is larger than a diameter or other cross-sectional dimension of a top surface of the opening.
DEMINERALIZED BONE FIBER IMPLANT COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR AUGMENTING FIXATION IN BONE REPAIR
A composition and methods of making or use thereof include a plurality of fibers forming a shape for augmenting fixation of a bone screw, or the plurality of fibers form a shape having a peg portion and a sheet portion to augment tendon to bone repair. The physical presence of the plurality of fibers provides initial fixation, while the use of an osteoinductive material provides long term enhancement of bone formation around the site of the bone screw or the tendon to bone repair.
Cup with conical permanent pegs
This invention related to a method of forming a polymer component and comprises blending polymer particles with antioxidant to form a mixture in which the antioxidant coats the polymer particles, irradiating the polymer particles to cross-link the polymer particles therein and forming the irradiated mixture into a consolidated component. The invention also relates to a method of forming an articular surface for a prosthesis and a prosthesis having a polymer articular bearing surface wherein at least one predetermined portion of the bearing surface is provided with cross-linked polymer bonds.
